Surprisingly, this post has more upvotes than the petition has supporters on change.org and I do think there has been n times more people view it than those who upvote it. Men earn most of the wealth in the family generally. They have more wealth. So, if they initiate for a divorce they stand to lose far more from it and vice versa. Also, there are a ton of policies which incentivise single motherhood and state kinda takes some care of the child.

Good god, I am sorry, I meant that, if she had texted you on whatsapp, then it will hold up in a court of law as a valid means of communication. Some evidences are not even admitted into the court, with whatsapp communications, that's not a problem. They can and will be readily admitted in Indian courts.

If she has texted you on whatsapp, its pretty much legally admissible in court(the court will admit it as evidence if you are charging her with harrasment).
