It would not be necessary for any employee of the school to have his number for any reason. Any communication should go to the parents, who can then communicate it to their kids. If the school has such a list for students numbers, then as far as I'm concerned the school administration is partially responsible for furnishing this possibility.

Every hourly job I've had have ranges that start somewhere and go up depending on experiencing, merit, etc. Every hourly job I've had has had very large ranges in different positions a single position. EDIT: Poor word choice

I may be arguing semantics here, but I feel that it's just as inaccurate to say this. Hourly rates vary between the individual. It's not illegal to pay a woman less than a man; it's illegal to pay her less because she's a woman. Just like it's illegal to pay a man more because he's a man.

I've made no such comment. The quoted study that perpetuates the wage gap doesn't go into the hourly rates of the average individual. The study shows that over a period of time women on average came out with less money. But no one talks about what hourly rates look like, average hours worked, career, unpaid time off, overtime hours worked, etc. These factors are very important in accurately reporting on any kind of discrepancy, and their being left out is damaging to the truth.

The distinction is earnings. It seems like you're too hung up on the word paid, when the point is that the other earned more, despite earning it at a slower rate. EDIT: To expand upon this, if you ask me how much I'm paid, I'll tell you my hourly rate. If you ask me how much I make, I'll tell you what my annual salary is.

There are really too many individual factors to make this statement 100% true. The thing that's illegal, is making decisions about pay based on any federally protected class. His teacher said that he can't right about drugs and violence. Guess what the kid included in his assignment? He posted an edit with his assignment where he states that it's possible to buy guns and drugs with the bitcoins. I guarantee that if he had omitted that part, his teacher would have had no problem with it.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my high school guidance counselor years ago. While I was speaking with her about how to find financial aide for college, she told me that I was unlikely to find any help. When I asked why, her response was "Because you're a white male, you're more privileged than women or other races." The issue isn't just that they had sex. It's that an adult had sex with a minor over whom she had direct authority. The reason op posted this, is because the rapist is being pitied, saying it was just a momentary lapse of judgment. While in the reverse, a 28 year old man with his 16 year old female student would not have had an article written with the same tone of apologetics and a request for leniency.
