I never implied or said it was because people were racist though. A lot of people here are criticizing me for claiming that the salesmen are racists or that I don't understand that it's possible white men are more knowledgeable. OBVIOUSLY that's an assumption. The question this raises is WHY are white men more knowledgable and what structural causes are there for men to have different forms of knowledge and preferences which advantages them, at least in this specific situation.

But it's not like men's shampoo smells bad? And I think that the rewards for hygiene are the same? And some cheap ass head and shoulders isn't bad quality. Anyway, I don't think I agree with your greater point thought. I think that it's important to note that the sexism facilitated by the system does overall disadvantage women, and has (in Western societies) for hundreds of years. I agree, no every individual is "out to get ya" but it's hard to distinguish those whoa re and those who aren't when…

I think there's probably a root cause why "most woman dont bother to lean enough about cars / try to negociate" whereas men presumably do— and likely are assumed to do. Assuming it isn't a biological fact that women know less about cars. The fact that such root cause is exploited by car salesmen and others who price things differently— and probably reinforce that root cause— is what is sexist. Or rather, I don't know if people are being purposefully sexist, but that particular gender differences…

The fact that such root cause is exploited by companies which price things differently— and probably reinforce that root cause— is what I think this ad in question is trying to address.

I obviously don't think people are necessarily discriminating women: it could be the case that salesmen quote higher prices to uninformed customers, and it either a)happens to be the case that women are overall less informed than men or b)salesmen assume they are because of gender stereotypes. The points about paying more for everything comes down to two stands of studies. One is that women are offered lower sallaries and higher rental + car costs in situations where you don't pay/are paid a universal ammount (for example the way car dealers have some freedom of how much to price their cars for, or the way home owners can tell you the cost of rent). The other is that gendered products tend to be priced differently, usually with men's being cheaper. For example

There's been a couple of studies where actors of different genders and skin colors follow the same script when buying cars. All the ones I've seen show the same result: white men are offered the lowest prices, and black women the highest. Remember in many cases car salesman have some wiggle room as to how much they will ask for a car.

I think this is interesting though: Of the 11 Anheuser-Busch North America executives (which includes Budweiser), only one is a woman (Katie Barrett, U.S. General Counsel). Of the 17-person Anheuser-Busch InBev leadership team, there is also a single woman (Sabine Chalmers, Chief Legal & Corporate Affairs Officer). There are only two women on the company’s board of directors.
