I think more likely, while that would certainly happen either way, is that she craves the drama. I had a girl I knew who was going through a breakup(I told her she should leave based on the awful shit he did) and what made her feel better was to hear drama about other people. Literally straight up asked me to tell her some gossip/drama. It's a rush for them.
