Yep, I’m 46 and at least half my friends are divorced. Honestly the hardest age is 30-40, when most of your friends are married and going crazy with small kids and have no time for anything.

The odds always look better on the way in...then the math hits the wall at light speed. Then you do your best to position yourself to have the most positive influence on your kids as you can, because you’re not an asshole, you’re just tired. Everyone except the guys here will lie to you about it...I don’t think they’re malicious, it’s just cognitive dissonance. Or frankly, because their wives have access to their phones. Just take any married guy with two kids out to the pub and put a couple pin…

Keep a journal and never share it with anyone. As you age, you may feel a sense of regret over things you did or things you didn’t do. Being able to go back into your journal and realize that you made the best decision (hopefully) for yourself at the time, based on who you were and what you knew then, is invaluable.

I volunteer at a couple of places a few times a month. You go, you do your thing and get some social interaction, and then you can leave. For people who have some anxiety, it’s good to have finite limits on it...you know you’re “only” going to be there for a couple of hours.

Most marriages are “over” at that mark anyway, whether they end in divorce or not. Some people hang on, stay together for the kids, can’t afford to split, etc, but the marriage is still effectively over. These are the stats you don’t hear about, but look around and you’ll see it.

I’m dating myself (45) but what comes to mind is Phil Collins in the 80s when he was receding and kept it long in the back...not a great look. He cut it and tightened it up and instantly looked 10x more sophisticated.

Remember, Cypher was only willing to plug back in if they 1) erased his memory and 2) made him “somebody important, like a movie star.” Since those options aren’t available to you (us), then the only other thing to do is turn and face the pain and process moving toward acceptance. Know this, brother, just like The Matrix, everyone was lied to whether deliberately or by default. That’s why we are ultimately here I think, to help each other at each stage (find kindred spirits) and fight off the se…

In my experience (44) if you find something you enjoy doing (doesn’t necessarily have to be a burning passion), you’ll usually have no problem putting in the time to become good at it. And once you’re good at it, you’ll have no problem making a decent living. A buddy of mine from high school makes about $100k a year as a small job remodeler (bathrooms, tile installation, odd jobs and such). He does awesome work and has a three month backlog...I give his number to anyone who ever asks if I “know …

You’ll hear this one a lot as well, “you should have kids, you’d be such a good father.” Well, I would have been a good doctor too, but medicine wasn’t my thing. It’s the same logic and the best response when they try to man you up for marriage and kids.

“Good investments are easy to find: you identify the bad investments, avoid those, and you’re left with a basket of fairly reasonable choices.” Imagine if you had followed your plan and proposed, and then found out about her infidelity in five years when you had a couple of children with her. Many of your married friends are in that boat, whether they realize it or not. When I think back to 21, I realize that the most important thing (not the only thing, just the most important), is to AVOID THE…

The recent furor over MGTOW reminds me of the scene on the bridge from Forrest Gump, where the reporters are trying to figure out what cause he is trying to promote. "I just felt like running." They can't believe that's all it is.

I'm not clinical, but we all get the blues from time to time. For me, it's about productivity. Make some money, take an extra shift, help a buddy clean out his garage...anything. The simplest path out of feeling down, I have found, is to do something productive.

How can you believe this? I'm incredulous. Where are you "not" seeing this, because I see it every day.

I'm not in the trades (white collar, good income), but when I think of the things around my house/life that I can handle myself versus when I call someone, plumbing is the first thing that comes to mind, electrician second. I can put up and wire a ceiling fan, change out plugs and switches, replace a disposal, things like that. But if I have a leak, broken dishwasher, etc, I'm calling a plumber. Same with HVAC issues. Just dropped $2,100 to replace a condenser in my AC; the guys were straight up…

And in about four or five years, all three of these woman will be featured in an article that continues to ask "where have all the good men gone?" Regardless of your religious views, the complete lack of decorum and, most importantly, the solipsistic lack of consideration for the deeply held beliefs of others, only reinforces what all of us here already know and experience everyday with modern western women. In the "old days," it would have been the older women out there banging their pots and p…

I absolutely agree. But for a lot of guys who are new and out of shape, that can seem like the deep end of the pool. My point (the basic principle) was that you've got to do SOMETHING, you've got to start somewhere. If lifting seems a bit intimidating, then hit the pavement or work up to doing 100 push-ups first, but don't make excuses. But yeah, I agree with you.

This is a good, well thought out post. Gentlemen (readers), don't confuse principles with rules. "Take care of yourself and get some exercise" is a principle; saying "bro you gotta hit the gym," is a rule. A vigorous walk, a good bike ride, or 20 minutes at the high school swimming pool will do you just as good. Everyone has a philosophy of life, whether they realize it or not. Lists and posts like this are helpful to those new to the red pill who have recently had their old philosophy shattered…

You should read that quote in its full context, before you quote the short version. It in no way diminishes your post or your point, but there is much more to that Burke quote than meets the eye. And remember, he was addressing a late 18th century British parliament...of educated men, who got his point. We need to be careful as we toss these ideas around, gentlemen. If we are to be taken seriously, then we need to be serious men.

There's a difference between being alone and being lonely. "Alone" is a mental state, like MGTOW. It is a way of saying "I am." It is an open and conscious choice. If you find yourself feeling "lonely," just recognize it for what it is: you are feeling disconnected from the other people roaming this planet. The cure for loneliness is to simply be around other people. It's as simple as going to the grocery store or wandering the mall. Just be around other people; walk into a store and try on a pa…

"I care about everything so much...". That means you have empathy, but you are turning it in on yourself and creating anxiety, instead of recognizing that when someone doesn't say "hello," it means they lack the empathy you have. That's why it hits you so hard. It sounds like you've been through quite a journey with your parents, that it was bad but they've made up for it. If you feel like they are supporting you now, that you're in a good spot with them, then reach out. If not, or if your embar…
