She probably took Joe for a dumb frat boy. Joe, on the other hand, saw her as someone who doesn't have healthy boundaries and who usually gets away with dumb shit because every else is either too polite to put her in her place, or just not good enough at the debate game to jump all her bullshit hurdles. He was probably just having fun stepping on her toes.

over and over You presented a single source and the other poster's reply was in the context of that. There is no "over and over" here, just a single instance of polite skepticism. And we can neither assume that you're better or worse than us at checking facts, which is why we need to be skeptical of your sources. If you present us with a single, heavily ideologically slanted source, we can't possibly be expected to simply assume that you've done your due diligence.

Well... what I had done when I was twelve or so was an alternative. Of course, I am going to discuss alternatives if I do wind up getting this done, but I'm also going to have a certain skepticism towards those alternatives because they haven't worked for me in the past.

As much as I respect this, I wish I'd been circumcised as an infant. Not for religious reasons, because my family isn't Jewish, but because my dad had to have his foreskin "fixed" years before my birth and it still wasn't perfect. I was just justifying "globally". Yep, I understood the intent. As an argument, though, it was very tautological. That is, what the argument boiled down to was that the patriarchy is global because of the way in which it is global. It's more reiteration than argument. Coming from /r/all, but the general stance of men's rights groups regarding patriarchy is that it doesn't exist in the sort of generalised, overarching fashion in which it is described by modern feminism. If the existence of a patriarchy in, say, the US isn't viewed as a foregone conclusion, a statement like "but patriarchy hurts men too!" would be viewed as a patronising and very flimsy cop-out.
