This was my experience at my last job - which was also very start-uppy and just like you said. I did maintain great friendships with some women coworkers, but it was impossible to do that with men if I wanted to be taken seriously.

For real! I mean, it's such a small thing, but come on. I was thinking the exact same thing, "why aren't you living on the lower levels if you hate seeing people on the elevator from way above?" ​ I don't know why this one thing annoyed me so much, I think it's just cause I realize how much I hate dealing with men's fragile emotions in the public space - it literally feels like it's near constant at all times.
