Being Forced to Represent MyselfSorry that you’re going through this, it isn’t a good feeling. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/12/20 01:21 AM
Being Forced to Represent MyselfI represented myself. I read the court etiquette to not make a fool of myself. I visited the law library and read the family law code. I took notes of past decisions on issues I wanted to convey in court. I used the family court self help folks a lot. I tried to prepare as much as possible. Look at your requests and be logical and reasonable about the result you want. More important, leave any and all emotions at the door. If you can get the ex to agree outside of court proceedings, it’ll save y… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/20 04:55 PM
Wife isn’t following the judges orders wtfBeen there done that. If it’s under your name and you don’t want your credit screwed, gotta pay it. Think of it as a down payment on your sanity. In the end, it’ll cost you money either in lawyer fees or paying the bills. And who knows, it might cost you your health by stressing over this. It did for me. I live with this motto: “It’s just money. Just gotta find a way to make more of it.” | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/20 04:40 PM
Life during separationOh boy, I remember that dreary point in my life - staring at four walls in an apartment with a laptop, 5 or so duffle bags and my green basic training issued shirts as my pillow. Life sure did flip upside down for me then after nearly a 12-year relationship. In singledom, I had all the time in the world to do anything I wanted. So, what did I do? Drink. Hit the bars. Pick up on girls. Try and build my confidence as a man. I chatted up girls/women online. I picked up on them, flat out told them I… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/20 04:32 PM
How to cope with STBX constantly sulkingSorry to hear this brother. I know the weight of the world is on your shoulders. I think I might be thinking it’s time to leave the house and live elsewhere. If money is an issue and no family or friends can help, might be time to sit the whole family down and discuss what’s going on and the plan forward. I’d be concerned with her lawyering up at a later date and telling them you did something to her that you didn’t do. The divorce is going to get ugly more likely than not, even though she’s ami… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/20 04:11 PM
I feel an imminent demiseMan, I started welling up reading your post. Took me back to the days and months when I made the decision to leave my ex and then, near three year-old twins. Hang in there brother. I’m open and honest with my kids. I tell them the truth and for the life of me, NEVER play mind games with them about what their mom says and what I say. I try to focus on building them up, being a dad for the short amount of time I have them. I expose them to music they’ve never heard, talk about concepts that I know… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/20 04:03 PM
