As I said, doesn’t mean it can’t happen - just that it’s unlikely to be a good thing for the younger person in most cases. 15 and 22 is not a huge age gap and was not uncommon in days gone by in more traditional communities when 15 was not considered as immature as it is now. My grandparents had large age gaps (16 and 10 years) - but the woman was always in her 20s when things started. And that was rural New Zealand in the 1950s... An 18 year old boy is not an emotionally and physically experien…

Yes, it’s creepy no matter what he looks like. Why would that change his motivation? I’m not saying there are zero exceptions - if the girl is mature and a practical sort, and they have a lot in common, it might be very good for them both. But most of the time it’s not like this. It feels like the younger person is being taken advantage of and that’s always going to make people uncomfortable. I’d say the same if it was a 38 year old woman and a 17 year old guy. It’s too out of balance to not be …

He never married the 17 year old, who he dated when he was in his late 30s for 4 years. He married a woman in 1999 who was 28 at the time to his 45. I think the problem most women have with a guy in his mid to late 30s or above dating a teenage or early 20s young woman, is the immaturity and inexperience compared to him. He’s likely not interested in her personality so much as he is in her body and inexperience - once she gets older and more worldly, his interest likely shifts to another younger…

True. I’ve always struggled with the ‘them or us’ mentality - it’s just so unforgiving. But it is a way of gathering people behind your particular flag. Just when you get down to conversations between individuals, black and white thinking doesn’t make much sense.

Yes, that’s true. But they are muddy waters - life is muddy waters really! Attempting to clarify things is better than muddying them further to me.

Yeah, it feels like we’re damned if we do damned if we don’t with some guys around here! Be explicit about what you do and do not want, but we don’t like assertive women and we won’t take you seriously anyway until we try pushing and see how far we can go...we’ll only take no as no if you kick and scream! We want ‘truly nice’ women, but that’s so we can take advantage and do what we want without fuss. If you are ‘nice’ and let us do what we want but then later realize we were behaving like an ab…

If you are very mildly autistic, it might be tough. Of course you shouldn’t have to tell someone you’re autistic if you don’t want to. Honestly I have no experience with mildly autistic people, so I’m not the one to give advice about this. Sorry.

Well, I beg to differ. People do giggle and say no and don’t mean it. Maybe shy was the wrong word to use. I’m a people pleaser and goodness knows I’ve been taken advantage of in minor ways because of it. Decent people don’t push though and thankfully I’ve only gotten close to decent men. I’m far from a rape apologist! Most of the guys I’ve discussed these sorts of things with around here over the past week think I’m the exact opposite of a rape apologist... I’m just trying to make it clear that…

That’s weird of her to say you’re raping her...I guess it’s a fantasy she trusts you with. It’s also a bit weird it took you a few times to discuss it with her - I’d be immediately freaked out by someone saying I was raping them...But I suppose her actions didn’t mesh with her words?

There’s a big difference between initiating and ignoring clear boundaries. I don’t know, maybe I am crazy...it seems so hard to talk about nuance around here. Most of this stuff is common sense and quite instinctual to the people I’ve come across IRL. Things don’t need to be explained down to the most black and white minute detail...

I said women should change. I believe they should. It’s not a one way street of men always being in the wrong and women being innocent. Communication needs to be clearer for some people. You didn’t state what kind of ‘no’ this was about - how was I supposed to infer you were discounting emphatic no’s? Fact is, calling all ‘No’s’ negotiable can indeed open the door for force. I could say ‘no way, I don’t want to do that’ and if a guy sees that as negotiable, he could go on ahead and ignore it and…

I think, as with most things, it’s more complicated. A ‘no’ said in a shy, flirty manner is very different from an emphatic ‘NO!’The problem seems to me that some men can’t tell the difference. Most men can though - they know when it’s safe to push a little and when it’s absolutely a no-go. Everyone likes a little game of cat and mouse - men like to be teased a little and women like to tease a little. Most of us know where the boundaries are with it. The danger with making a blanket statement th…

Do you guys know what it’s like to have a dick in your ass? It’s a lot more than a finger and requires lube and prep. Have you seriously stuck your dick in a girls ass with just one finger for prep and no warning? That is sexual assault pure and simple - and you could actually cause injury. Men who do that totally deserve an assault charge. Men who joke about it or think it’s no big deal, can fuck off!
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/18 09:12 AM

“popped his dick in for a second” Come on, that is an extreme thing to do with no lube and no prep! A finger, ok, I wouldn’t call it assault (though it could still hurt - and I would never do it to a guy without warning) - but a dick unexpectedly in my butt with no prep and not an accidental ‘slip’ - yep, that’s assault. It could result in a tear - surely that’s not something you expect a woman to just ‘deal with’? I have no issue with being pushed a little in bed on things I’m a bit unsure abou…

I’m sorry this happened to you. Personally, I would take the fact that he did stop after you pushed him as cause not to prosecute. It will be so hard for you to prove anything and it’s unlikely worth the trouble. Chew him out for it and break up with him. If he is remorseful, then I think he didn’t want to hurt you, he genuinely believed you wanted to be pushed. You don’t feel the law should equalize people so no one is disadvantaged by factors they can’t control? I don’t understand why we’d start with testosterone for men but with pregnancy for women? Many women don’t get pregnant until they’re well into adulthood or maybe at all - so it’s kind of a weird comparison with male testosterone...Female menstrual cycle is probably more comparable. Well, ok then - what can we rely on? Purely our own opinion and personal experiences? No studies into psychology are correct, so what else do we have to go on? There has not been a lot of research into the freeze response, but here’s one study I found I admit, this is not actually a good analogy for freezing up during assault but this is the footage from the train track toddler incident - people don’t know what to do, but one guy acts very quickly. I’m no psychologist, but it seems to me that you don’t have to be ‘mentally ill’ (although a significant proportion of the population do have anxiety or depressive disorders) to not respond ‘properly’ or fre…

I agree with aspects of this - especially your last paragraph. I just feel that the rest of your ‘not equality’ stuff is like Animal Farm - ‘All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others’. This means some have an entirely unfair advantage and only some forms of equality are taken into account. So, how do we go forward and give both men and women the best chance of just and fair treatment and personal freedom?

Check out the stuff on kink.com - that’s what I’m talking about. They talk to the girl first about her hard limits and things she’s willing to try or wants to do. They go over safe words and signals and ensure she is fully onboard and knows she can stop or slow down whenever she wants to. The scenarios are often the fantasy of the woman. That’s what BDSM is - it’s fully consensual and the sub actually has full control over when it stops. I’m not interested in watching men actually rape women or …

You could well be right that the numbers are inflated by men pretending to be women. But it’s hard to deny a significant amount of BDSM porn and erotica is produced for women and also often by women. Must be something to it and I doubt all those women are damaged in some way. Some of us are just a bit brain kinky... Men being more nasty...? I often think that to - I think the most extreme fetishes are male driven generally (the most extreme everything generally is) - but mainstream BDSM porn is …

I can’t tell you why I quite like ‘violent’ porn - it just gets me going more than vanilla stuff. It depends on what mood I’m in. And it has to be the sort of BDSM that has explicit consent and is really controlled by the woman through her limits. I wasn’t abused as a child and I’ve never been in an abusive relationship or been raped or assaulted. Outside of pretty common forms of harassment, I have no experience of hostility from men. Is it a dick envy thing? I don’t think so. There are certain…

I think you’re being a bit naive about women here. I’m a non-brain damaged women who prefers ‘nasty’ porn over vanilla. Vanilla is easy to get IRL - it’s safe and standard and pretty boring to watch. The nasty stuff is a fantasy that is much harder to come by safely and confidently IRL and is more visually exciting. I don’t watch truly sadistic stuff, it has to be explicitly consented to by the women and is often all her idea in the first place. I think that’s hot. She seems like the victim of m…

You’re right, we do need to talk about bad sex more often - that would be good for everyone. Feeling uncomfortable is different than feeling assaulted. Anyway, I just believe in giving the benefit of the doubt to someone who says they had a sexual encounter in which they felt unsafe and threatened - I don’t need to pick it apart and make them feel regret over their response. I don’t think people should be going to prison over an uncomfortable encounter - but we need to be giving people informati…

Are we talking physically weak or mentally - or both? I think in general people don’t like spineless people - they can be liabilities. We seem to be very unforgiving of psychological weakness in anyone. Historically I guess women get away with weakness more because physically it’s just a fact and that led to a perception of mental weakness too. Men seem to hate spinelessness just as much as women do - perceived weak guys are mercilessly teased and ridiculed by other men. ‘Weak’ men are often pit…

Yes, but everyday sexual intercourse usually doesn’t involve physical aggression without warning. I give up trying to explain this. It’s not as if this is a common occurrence - most people have sex just fine without being aggressive without consent and without freezing up. I’m just talking about the situations where it gets out of hand and how immediately many people blame a woman for her response. Let’s just lay it to rest and agree to disagree, you’ve made good points and I think I have too.

Women are weaker, physically, for sure. So are children. Some men are vastly more physically strong than other men. So this physical weakness means someone is not worthy of the same respect or protection under the law? Laws are there to protect everyone from a myriad of threats because otherwise you’d just have strong men at the top and everyone else at their mercy... Equal, but different is how I see it. Men have weaknesses women don’t have, women have weaknesses men don’t have - when we work t…

I expect acknowledgement that some things are different between women and men and it needs to be taken into account in disputed situations like this. If that constitutes a double standard, so be it. Well, how do we define a sufficiently threatening scenario where it’s ‘valid’ to freeze up? The problem is, what is threatening to you may be more or less so than how others define it. With medical consent you have the procedure, risks and expected outcomes clearly explained to you and then you sign your consent. That makes sense because things are likely going to happen that are not normal for you. Sex is generally going to be ‘normal’ - nothing beyond kissing, fondling, oral sex and vaginal in…

I’m talking about someone becoming sexually aggressive - not just a ‘normal’ sexual encounter. You may well expect that a man is going to initiate sex, but you likely don’t expect to be treated roughly. If you’ve never had a rough sexual encounter before, then that is a threatening situation that could cause you to freeze up. You have to remember that 99% of the time a man is stronger, and a woman is well aware of that - if you don’t know the man well and be starts to roughly grab you, put his h…

If this is true, then many, many people need chaperones - including many men. Freezing up is an involuntary response to a threatening situation for a lot of people. We can’t control how we respond to trauma and we can’t know how we’ll respond in any any given situation until we actually experience it. And in one situation you might be quite decisive and fight or flee as you should?’, but in another you might find yourself paralyzed by indecision... Did you see a video recently of a toddler falli…

That consent is indeed awkward and full of grey areas I guess. And the normal strawmanning of ‘but women do x and it’s ok’ and ‘you should just not have sex without a contract because women can’t be trusted’. Several of these have popped up. I guess refute was the wrong word - strawmanning would have been better.

Yep, we just come from totally different mindsets. I respect your opinion, but I disagree with it. Laws are around to protect people who are not able to protect themselves (for whatever reason ) - most people would need chaperones in your world, many men included, and that’s not feasible. The Ansari thing is just never going to get a consensus. It was a mess of an encounter - both made mistakes, but I see more problems with his behavior (though nothing criminal).

Yes, this is true. But the macho culture is deeply ingrained in most men - they get pressured into it, just as girls get pressured into behaviors they’re not truly comfortable with. We need to value empathy, wisdom and kindness more as a society, then maybe macho culture will seem more and more as it truly is: a remnant of our primitive past, that has no place in an enlightened future.

Idk, I think in general people lack niceness these days - but they always have, it’s only social norms that keep a lot of people in check. Women were conditioned to be nice (sometimes to a fault) for generations - deriving her value solely from nurturing her family and obeying her husband. Any search for self fulfillment was unwomanly. That discouraged any obvious selfishness or unpleasantness in women. Men were always more discouraged from being nice - that was a weakness reserved for women. No…

You’re right, I shouldn’t have jumped to that conclusion. But you are putting the responsibility solely on the woman and saying nothing about the guy’s behavior... You ignored my analogy about the act being defined by the behavior of the transgressor, not the response of the subject of that transgression: if someone hits me, but I don’t fight back or report them, does that mean I was not hit or I deserved it because my response was a passive one? If this had happened to me, I’d like to think I would have fought the guy and run, but who knows how you are going to react in an unfamiliar and scary situation? It’s like blaming people who give over their wallet when some thug asks for it, even if he doesn’t have a weapon - we’d all like to think we’d be tough and fight back and not be a pushover, but that’s often beyond a persons control when they’re afraid. No matter her reaction, this guy’s behavior was wrong. Slapping and choking someone during sex with no prior warning that this was the type of sex he was into and no knowledge that she would be into it, is just stupid. You risk hurting someone you don’t know on the off chance they will be 100% onboard - this guy could easily be accused of assault. If this woman went to the police about this guy, she’d be completely within her rights. If many women feel this way, then I guess it’s disheartening because it reinforces what many men think about women - that we have no interest in sex for ourselves, we only do it for their benefit. Well, sure, there’s transaction in it all - but it’s not this black and white tally that so many RPers seem to talk about. The strongest couples I know are very close to unconditional love - they forgive and forget lots of things, as long as the person they love is not deliberately hurting them and supports them unconditionally too. I mean, some people take marriage vows/long term commitment very seriously and need a hell of a betrayal or long term disrespect to leave. They’re also not the sort …

See, this is why redpill is fundamentally flawed from my perspective. Relationships are not business transactions or an object that needs a certain maintenance. People give and take, but keeping score doesn’t make sense to me. What if a woman gives back in ways that you simply don’t appreciate? Does that mean she’s not giving at all? What if she’s giving in ways that you need, but maybe don’t know you need? I’ve certainly had relationships and friendships like that. They don’t give back what I e…

I get what you’re saying. Give yourself a break from it and see how it feels. Plenty of people are quite happy being single and there’s nothing wrong with it. I think it’s good for a person to be alone for a while. Maybe letting go will give you an answer.

Gender differences. We’re coming from often entirely different perspectives. Women won’t go on a date with a guy knowing he has no interest in what’s between her ears, only what’s between her legs. (Unless all she wants is casual sex, and then any arrangement is more of a hookup than a date) Men don’t initially care about more than what’s between her legs...but if there was no dating and ‘mating dance’ there’d be no sex for men and no opportunity for women to choose a possible mate. It’s complic…

Plenty of men your age fear being alone - most people would rather not be alone for the rest of their life... I don’t think women fear being single - or that most men desire to be lifelong bachelors spinning plates - as much as most people think.

Yes, definitely. I think we agree basically. Nothing wrong with a guy wanting sex, it’s only wrong when he doesn’t take her no for an answer and gets too aggressive about it. He shouldn’t feel entitled to sex, but some men do get upset when a woman doesn’t ‘give it up’ when he’s behaved well (in his eyes) all night and flattered her. You win some, you lose some - you can’t force attraction.

True, choking shouldn’t be on the table until a lot of trust has been established and there has been research and practice done - it’s a risky activity not to be taken lightly. It’s never appealed to me, but I imagine if it did I would be super cautious about trying it and certainly would freak out if a guy did it the first time we had sex...

I don’t think men fuck personalities at all - I know physical sexual attraction often comes first for both sexes, but especially men. We are talking dating here though - to me, a date is a kind of initial phase and trial of ‘was my first impression of this person accurate and do I still find them sexually attractive?’ For women, that answer could be ‘I was wrong’ because the man’s personality/behavior undermines their physical appeal - for men that’s much less likely to happen. You can easily fl…

I guess so, yeah - but as I’m a modern human able to override my baser instincts with higher rational thought, I don’t see why it doesn’t count? If I was in a more primitive society, he would be more appealing as he’d probably be a good provider out in the wild...but I don’t live that way...

I agree with your edit - women should know if a guy asks them for dinner (and is not a well established platonic friend) he will try for something at the end of the night. Not many women are that naive though. And your reaction in Italics might happen if the guy has been an aggressive ass, but I don’t know a woman who would react like that because her date made a simple move... I don’t get game playing at all. Be upfront - but don’t pretend from the outset that you’re interested in a woman’s per…

I’m not sure he has what women want in abundance...He’s rugged and outdoorsy and quite good looking (wouldn’t call him pretty) but what he does doesn’t fit with what I want in a partner. He’s off exploring for months on end and often putting himself in dangerous situations - not exactly a stable life partner. But in terms of good, strong genetics to pass onto babies, I guess he’s pretty appealing as a sperm donor...but not as a man to raise kids and spend a life with. At least not for me - I’d b…

I don’t believe you read what I wrote if you think I’m ‘acting like this submissive fantasy is written by men for men’. I didn’t say it was only for men, did I? I said it’s not only for women...not the same thing. DaphneDK42 said men want to see lesbians giggling and cuddling and women want to see gangbangs and degradation as if only women want to see the submissive porn - that is also demonstrably untrue.

1) Most Millennials grew up watching porn. I’m female and it’s the first place I learned anything about what might really go on in sex. I don’t think that’s the healthiest way to learn, but it is the case for most people nowadays I think. 2) It’s only a problem if you’re bad at communicating with and/or reading other people. You learn pretty quick what makes a partner extra horny, what makes them go ‘meh’ and what is a no-go. Unfortunately I think lots of young people struggle with that and it d…

The vast majority of porn is made for men - but you think men don’t want to see rough gangbangs and women being degraded, it’s only women who want that? Sure, plenty of women like to see that too, but that’s unlikely to be the main reason that type of porn is so available and almost mainstream today - the paying audience is still mostly men, so it wouldn’t make much sense for the industry to create so much female fantasy porn... To me, most of us grow up on porn today and it’s like lots of thing…

Sure, he doesn’t fit the caveman stereotype - thankfully, or the woman would have feared for her safety with the aggressive way he was behaving. If a guy is shoving his fingers in my mouth and ignoring my requests to slow down or stop, then it’s just threatening. The fact that he physically isn’t very imposing probably made her linger longer because she didn’t feel truly scared, just bewildered and disappointed. She was obviously attracted to him despite his less than impressive physical presenc…

Yeah, that’s what I meant really. She wouldn’t go home with a guy she had no attraction to - she expected him to behave respectfully and he didn’t. That would make attraction go down quite a few notches. I guess I just don’t buy ‘if he was good looking, she wouldn’t have had a problem with his behaviour’. You don’t go home with a guy who isn’t at all attractive to you - he can become more attractive with the right behaviour but also less attractive with the wrong behaviour. Maybe if he was her i…

I don’t really get how pussy pass applies to this (if I even understand the term correctly)... She gave verbal and non verbal indications that she wanted to stop or slow down, he seemed to oblige only to escalate again for the same things a few minutes later. She gave him the benefit of the doubt he understood and respected her wishes only to have him try again and again. She was pretty clear in her non-consent and he acknowledged it but then kept pushing again - basically ignoring and badgering…

I don’t know. I don’t follow these extremes very closely - I’m new to it. I just find it hard to believe there are a significant proportion of women calling for that. And yeah, I doubt many men want to enslave women either...But, at least from a few reads of posts here and TRP and MGTOW, there seems to be a lot of genuine and deep seated hatred of women and that’s something I read much less frequently from women towards men...but, as I said, I’m not well read on the subject.

Well, I am fat but my friend of 20+ years is considerably fatter and always has been. She’s been very happily married for 10 years and I’m single...She has a much more confident and gregarious personality than me. That always negated the fact that I was the prettier and ‘slimmer’ one. Anyway, women who complain about that stuff are often ashamed of themselves and that probably is what puts men off - their outward lack of self esteem and confidence. No one wants to be with someone they constantly…

She should have gotten out of there sooner, but that doesn’t negate his harassing, belittling behavior. And feelings have a lot to do with sex, for men and women. She didn’t really accuse him of assault though. She said on reflection that she felt assaulted. She hasn’t pressed charges or anything. She hasn’t received any money or attention for it, as far as I know, because she’s remained anonymous. And women are called paranoid for fearing their date might rape them - which is statistically much more likely than a man being falsely accused of rape.... He was sexually aggressive and didn’t respect her boundaries at all. That’s uncomfortable and wrong no matter what the guy looks like. Attractive men can be sexually aggressive assholes just like unattractive men can be. Why would a woman even go home with a guy she truly wasn’t attracted to? She knew he was going to try to initiate sex - do you think she expected him to turn into a hunk once he made a move and when he continued to look like the man she’d just had dinner with and had watched on …

I think our concepts of masculinity and femininity have changed and it’s making things difficult for some. Still, in the real world, plenty of people are in relationships, getting married and procreating - enough to keep the population going. There’s no massive crisis. It seems to me men also want it all - just as women do. They want women to work and contribute financially, but they also want women to be enthusiastic lovers, mothers, hostesses and arm candy to make their friends envious. Women …

Violence is always going to be there and the physically weaker will be disproportionately preyed upon by the physically stronger...it’s already better than it was though, so I think we’re headed in the right direction. I doubt it will ever be eliminated. There will always be violent, insecure people who feel they can take it out on someone - and they usually pick someone weaker. Women are physically weaker than men and often convenient for those bullying men to pick on...they pick on weaker men …

I agree. Casual sex is overrated and often put forward as a way in which women can empower themselves - perversely by being more like men, which is not what being a strong female is about to me...Basically though, no one should be shamed for being true to themselves and some women want casual sex because they truly enjoy it - that’s fine and they’re not sluts because of it. But I don’t think it’s something most women want and it has become something that women are supposed to want and enjoy if t…

Ok, I don’t know much about mattress girl - but she’s seems like a self-serving attention whore. In the cases I’ve read about false accusations, the woman was jilted in some way and wanted revenge - no matter the reason, it’s unhinged and downright wrong to falsely accuse someone of anything. It happens, but it’s far from common. Few guilty people own up to what they did, but even fewer falsely accuse someone who did nothing wrong... As for what a woman has to lose by alleging assault - her char…

This is such a stretch in logic...You’re basically suggesting that most men who are accused of sexual assault are innocent and most women are lying when they make the accusation? Often there is no definitive evidence of a sexual assault unless it was a violent one. You have to take someone’s word for it and in most cases the woman has more to lose than gain by making the accusation - so it’s unlikely to be false. Plenty of guilty people will say they are innocent - doesn’t mean they are. I think…

I agree. There are clearly degrees of seriousness in sexual assault and in this latest round of public cases they are seemingly being lumped together. Legally though, I believe it is quite black and white - it’s either sexual assault or it isn’t. The judge and jury can take the details into account when deciding on a sentence - but a man who has coerced/badgered an unwilling woman into oral sex who felt she had no choice, is guilty of rape just the same as a man who has jumped out of a bush and …
