Chrono Trigger fan? And I misspoke a little. What I meant to say was that men and women are organized along access to perceived masculinity. Because traditional perceptions of gender are binary, women have to gain access indirectly through relationships to men--primarily romantic, though other types of relationships are also acceptable. Usually familial. Women in this position of access are expected by men to engage in a two-way street of influence deepening. The woman assists the man in climbin…

I agree. Empathy is the first step to solidarity. Solidarity is taking actions in the real, material, social world based on that empathy. We all will be faced with opportunities to entrench hierarchies, like this one, or to ignore them and focus on the human next to us and what we have to offer one another. Solidarity is choosing the latter despite the ease of the former

It is better to be at the top of a hierarchy than at the bottom, true. There is something better, which is to be free of hierarchy at all. But what is better than either is to be in the very motion of upsetting the hierarchy itself, not by placing oneself at the top in conquest nor by throwing oneself to the bottom in despair, but by turning the world 90 degrees so that an endless ladder into the heavens becomes...just an awkwardly shaped walkway. This process is known by many names, but I like …

What you're getting at has been described many times in leftist discourse by many names in many languages. I like to call it dehumanization. When society organizes individual humans along lines of hierarchy such as masculinity, wealth, age, skin color, dialect, religion, age, etc, it obliterates the individual, subjective, messy things which make them--which make us--human. There are oppressors at the top and the oppressed at the bottom, but not only are the oppressed obliterated in this way--th…

I thought you were the stats guy! A divorce doesn't mean people fail to find a relationship. It means it takes them more than one try.

You do. The data you choose to pay attention to. The overwhelming majority of people on this earth actually don't agree with you and have relatively productive relationships. Data doesn't make you objective. Objectivity isn't real. You never look at all the data from an objective standpoint. You aren't a robot.

Most small businesses fail, and all relationships end up in break up or death. You aren't playing objective numbers. Your own feelings come into play, just as they must with every decision.

Who gives a fuck? Awalt and amalt are equally degrading and negative outlooks and they destroy any possibility of having a good relationship or improving how men and women interact in general. Not only do you give up, it makes other people give up a little on themselves, and if you don't like the way women treat you then telling them that they CAN'T improve is a stupid and self-defeating idea. Let me explain something to you and the other entitled people on here. You don't just find good people …

AWALT is literally the same shit that men hate having done to them, spun around. When you say AWALT, you make no fucking attempt to correct the behavior or ideas that you don't like in women. You just give up and crawl into a sad hole of individualism that never ends up satisfying you because it lacks any form of cooperation with other people. If that sounds oddly specific, it is because I've been down that road and it ends up spitting you out back onto the shit highway we call life. MGTOW is fi…

Who said I'm making assumptions about all the men here? Read my comment history. You'll see lots of "some people." The fact is that subreddits like this, TRP, Mensrights, and so on contain just as much bitterness and sad shit as the feminist subreddits. And they contain some sad, grumpy people, and I know because I used to hang out with them. The irony of a MGTOW subreddit is that you're listening to other people tell you how to go your own way, and that makes these kinds of subreddits cesspools…

There certainly are. Your tit for tat attitude doesn't really make you any better, and that's the problem I'm addressing. The whole point of MGTOW is for you to address your own shit before blaming other people for your problems. Seems like some people have trouble with that notion.

There are a lot of sad little men on MGTOW who got hurt by some girl one time and never managed to pick their balls up and move on, and all they do is bitch and moan and blame other people. The only? Trump begs to differ. Don't lose your cool, buddy. The stance of men's rights shouldn't be that we are the only ones whose problems need to be solved. Our honesty about both genders and desire for equality is what separates us from feminists. Don't lose that.

To add to this, I like to talk about something I call "outsourced violence." I think of a portion of violence that men commit is actually sanctioned by and asked for by women, and men commit this violence in order to satisfy their partners or feminised society. For example, think of the white feather in WWI. Or men fighting over women they like or "defending their girl." Certainly not all violence comes from this, not even close, but it's a big issue that feminists don't talk about.

I'm gonna be Stick in the Mud and point out that there are toxic people of both genders and that both genders have different ways of expressing their shittiness. Toxic masculinity, if it is ever used, should refer to the specific toxicity that men can express in comparison to what women can express. As in, both sides need to be talked about. Toxic masculinity should NOT refer to masculinity as a whole, as it has sometimes come to. There are, of course, unisex forms of shittiness as well.

If Brienne of Tarth, Cersei Lannister, Daenarys (not counting from her brother in book 1), or even Arya (eventually) suffers violence, I think you can say there is quite a bit of agency. Especially Brienne. That was THE worst image. Pick Joffrey hitting Sansa, you idiot. Also, I don't think that quotes from professors who work on domestic violence in the real world apply to a hyperviolent fictional world in the middle of a civil war/approaching armageddon. I think that there is room for women's movements to support change for women. But it's less about changing men at this point and more about changing women. I would like to see a movement of women trying to encourage positive qualities in each other and young women rather than blaming men for their problems. And in Asia, Africa, and rural areas in Europe and the Americas there is still room for a little bit of old-school women's rights. Those are the places where real sexism still holds out in fo…

A great deal of the violence committed by men is on the behalf of women. Feminism has keywords like "toxic masculinity" and "mansplaining." If I had to make a buzzword for men's rights it would be "outsourced violence." I know many women who are horribly violent, abusive, or bloodthirsty. But many of them are afraid to commit that violence for fear of retaliation or they commit it with the benefit of society's protection. That's not to say it's a common theme with all women. I think most PEOPLE …

"A degree of fluency" You write better than 99% of people in my town. I'm almost certain. Maybe it takes you a while or your accent is strong or something, otherwise you are being needlessly humble. And it's stupid as fuck when there are menstrual cups that women can buy which are cheaper and which produce less waste than piles of tampons and pads. Some women don't seem to be able to use them but in every thread I've seen about it, they all convince another couple girls to try it/try it again and then minds are blown.

Feminists say men are violent, but what they fail to realize is how much violence is FEMALE violence, outsourced to men. That raped woman kidnapped this man and locked him up for 28 years. She used the state to do it for her because she was too weak to carry out her own violence. She used men to do it for her. That's a pattern across thousands of years.

Too lax is subjective. People learn things when they need to. Some people who like those sorts of schools think that letting the kids figure stuff out on their own or in groups is best, but I prefer having adult leadership in providing avenues for learning. You don't FORCE the kids to learn at all. But you are always ready to help and encourage, and you introduce them to some tangible reasons why reading, for example, is a useful skill. People who like those schools are usually humanists who bel…

Of course, ADHD and ADD DO affect some of these kids. But there shouldn't be such a large gender disparity. On sluts: I'm a young guy in college in the rural conservative midwest, so slut-shaming is extremely common here. I remember high school vividly, and college is not free either. On rough sex: I've been a dom (switch) on and off for 4 years. I know a thing or two about how that works, and trust me, the way the BDSM community handles it is much safer than the average vanilla couple. It is, contrary to what some guy implied in this thread, to be a dominant AND to be a nice guy. As in, to be genuine…

A slew of reasons not to say it out loud This makes me think. Maybe we're not approaching this problem from every direction. Maybe MRM should seek to normalize female sexuality so that they CAN day it out loud. I agree, and I would go so far as to make the case that the politicians who brought us into this mess make it about race so that they can escape judgment. Today's racism is relatively boring compared to, say, 1968. What is truly frightening is the way we ARM racists and give them the tools to hurt people. Racists don't go walking around looking for black men to choke to death in broad daylight in front of witnesses. Racist police do that. A black man can run from a racist. He cannot run from the…

The misconception comes from a bunch of posts of flyers around bathrooms in Australia, where that statement actually WAS true in recent years. But for the rest of the world, prostate cancer is less deadly even if it causes far greater numbers of more minor complications.

That's not true, actually. IIRC, your comment only holds true in Australia in recent years. More men GET prostate cancer, but it's not as deadly. But there's a certain context to that which needs to be explained. It's unacceptable to go around saying what they're saying, because someone can take that completely the wrong way. If your arguments are correct, someone already did. When most people are married, it's a unique relationship that works between two people. This is a problem with female teachers. I don't see that much stigmatizing. I think a lot of this is actually women recognizing that they are women and these are young men and they have different interests which can collide in the classroom. Obviously this is only more of a reason why we need men in the classroom--men don't need to have this discussion because we intuitively understand young men. But I don't think that most of these comments are meant in any cruel or ridiculous way.

I think this is cherry-picking to find the absolute worst things you can find. There are plenty of nasty things which more influential or relevant feminists have said. You don't win a debate by picking low-hanging fruit. You win by beating their best arguments, and we can do that. To think otherwise would to be to negate the same philosophy we say we support.

If I accept hate speech as a valid concept. Unfortunately (or perhaps in the long run, very fortunately) outlawing an opinion, however vile, does very little to affect its popularity. Hate speech laws don't convert racists or sexists. They just push them out of sight. Doesn't matter if you take legal action against one girl. In fact, by doing so you might galvanize them. You beat an idea, in the end, with a better idea.

Hate speech? Do you WANT to lower yourself to the level of feminism? When people use the government for their own petty ends, you get a variety of things. Feminism is one of them. I thought it was clear to people on this sub that the most important goal was to remove those laws and weapons which have been used against us, not to retaliate in kind. I don't think the right avenue is to use force against these people. Our ideas are better and we can win on a fair playing field. All we should seek i…

Actually, "Russia" is not a country. Russia is a nation inside a country called the Russian Federation, which consists of a number of nations from eastern Europe to northern Asia including Chechnya, Siberia, Tatarstan, tribal areas, and a host of others. Some anime are actually really bad with that aspect, but I'd agree that a large portion just naturally portray women very positively. Bebop has Faye Valentine and Julia. Both are strong without acting like men. Rurouni Kenshin has Kaoru and Megumi. Same deal. SAO is debatable because Asuna is contrasted against Kirito who is a total bullshit fake character. When Asuna acts like a normal human being it looks weak compared to him, but that's not a fair comparison. Really she's a decent character. …

I agree. I don't like framing feminists as "oh they're bad for not supporting equality." That would be like me complaining in a debate that my opponents didn't cite evidence against their case. But here's the thing. In a debate competition, everyone is explicit about their goals and allegiances. Not so with feminism. It really will depend on how they portray those women. Women are capable of violence, bravery, and heroism. But you know what they don't do? Engage in those things for arbitrary reasons. You can show a woman protecting herself or protecting a child in a very realistic and believable way. Hollywood is full of those examples, and a classic is Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in Alien. Male, neutral pill. I wouldn't advocate hitting anyone unless it is to prevent greater harm to that person in the long run (like tackling them out of harm's way), to defend yourself, or as part of a mutual agreement to duke things out. You'll probably never run into any of those situations. As for the rest, strong people are attractive. Many men are attracted to strong women. I don't think that's generally true of men or women. It isn't about the way men look or anything so specific. It's much more about the expectations in a relationship and in a man or woman. It's the broader stroke of the brush that concerns me. Film says, "This is the form of woman. This is the form of man. This is the form of relationship." I don't know that that was actually the message of the video. Many people might criticize that behavior if--by which I mean when--it is performed by women. People act like children. Women aren't easy to manipulate. People are easy to manipulate. So on and so forth. TRP is wrong less often than it's improperly applied.

It's pseudoscience to say that what happened in the womb is the most important thing when looking at a potential mate who is fucking 30. The pseudoscience is in drawing a conclusion that isn't supported; in saying that "This guy had a lot of T as a baby, so he must be a good mate." People change a lot in response to their environments. TRP is based on that concept, actually.

In a way it does. I live in the American midwest. In the heart of the Bible Belt. You don't read a story every day of some teacher making the kids pray or some nonsense like that, because it doesn't happen every day. But the attitude that it SHOULD happen lies beneath the surface at all times. The attitude which made this possible is widespread, much more so than any fundie Christian craziness. Is the world gynocentric? I'd say it's pretty balanced for the most part. Is America gynocentric, thou…

A lot of people seem to think it's cool to be poly and so they say they are without ever having tried it. So as a disclaimer, I'm not poly and I don't think I would be if I tried it. However, I do think I'm a bit more relaxed than the average joe. The most basic answer is that I prefer being in control. I like being my own boss at all times, and emotions getting the better of me is not my idea of fun. And jealousy makes people do stupid things. Drives good friends apart, etc. I think that's all …

I wonder about this. It all really hinges on what we believe is a traditional role for women. Nurturing and growing other humans is an...industry, for lack of a term, which I respect more than almost any other. That entails teaching and homemaking and all of those things together. But I only respect those people in that "industry" who are ambitious. I wholly disagree that women have no ambitions--they have mostly differing ones, and perhaps less of them on average, but they exist. I would respec…

TRP personalities tend to judge people on their actions, not their words. The actions of the people who are known as feminists, to the wide world, are misandrist. They are true Scotsmen because they call themselves Scots, other Scots acknowledge they're Scots, and when 90% of people think of Scots, they think of that group of people. I don't like some of the core beliefs of TRP, so I no longer identify as RP, although I agree with many parts of it. I strongly suggest that every "true feminist" w…

I have never walked into a room and stared at a woman's personality. It's not something that people can view at a glance, like they can with your appearance. I can't sexually select based on personality. Not really. I can try to guess, and maybe I could rule out a few people, but for the most part what you have to go on the first time you meet someone is their appearance. Outward behavior can be faked just as well.

For sex? Probably, but those men ain't probably what a woman would be seeking anyway. lolwut. Why else would you spend money and (possibly) create a back problem? That's not sexually motivated? Besides, you can't really divide a relationship from sex. You can have sex without a relationship, but a relationship without sexual chemistry (even if you're not actively having sex) is just a weird friendship.

For what harassment is. We don't assume everyone is out to get us unless we're just insecure. And it's not because, "Oh, that chick is looking at me, fuck yeah." Last time I walked through a mall I saw at least 5 gay men look at me like a piece of meat, two of them who were almost certainly stronger than me. I'm not gay. I had no interest in them. Did I feel threatened? No. Why would I be? Why would women be? We're in a mall.

There's women whose personality and sense of style I find atrocious, but I want to sleep with and immediately leave when finished. No, I'm not making any mistake. Go to a university, please. I live in a very conservative area of the US and I can tell you that even here, there are TONS of girls who call themselves feminists because they think it's cool and they have no idea what they're talking about. I'm aware that it's not the entire female population or even the entire population of feminists. However, "normal girls" and especially "normal feminists" are giving these apes power by co-opting their name and movement, and by…

Which ill effects? I haven't mentioned any specifically yet. It sounds like you already have your conclusion before we've had a discussion. Except, of course, the ill effect of actually creating sexists and tension between the genders rather than eliminating it. And that's proven. All of the guys on MRA are alienated. All of the guys in Gamergate (which is not originally about sexism) are now alienated by the feminists who have attacked them. The atheist community was split down the middle by at…

I believe that, as a rule, there are no rules when it comes to how various philosophies become fleshed out. You see, every single philosophy that you could label yourself with is massively expansive. It's made up of hundreds of tiny little ideas which together, form a face. But that is all in the founder or leader's mind. The reality is that those pieces end up combining with the people who join the movement or philosophy, and a culture develops. And that's sort of random. Often times ideas and …

I think TRP makes a mistake when demonizing an interest in fantasy/sci-fi media. It's practically mainstream now, and telling people they should change their interests in order to get easier sex is dumb. Instead of changing their worldview or suddenly swearing off fantasy, they could, I don't know, just not run their gabs about those things. Yes, because getting laid at (particularly high school) parties is the best criterion for deciding who is and is not alpha. The class clown only shows that he doesn't know how to have normal human interactions without the crutch of humor. It's better than being a wall-flower, but it's not good for the ego. I've known many class clowns, and none of them were very happy about their position after enough time passed.

I'm not really blue pill, but I did leave TRP. I didn't like the community or its focus. However, to me, TRP is absolutely fascinating because it's actually the final application of feminism. It's feminism come full-circle. And "feminists" hate it. TRP is a re-analysis of history. First, feminists looked at history and created the narrative that the mainstream believes--women were slaves to men. But that's an interesting opinion to have, particularly if you yourself are a woman, because that mea…

See my flair for my answer. TRP bio-truthing assumes two things which I believe are wrong. I think that mainstream female culture is very shitty for women and men, similar to TRP, but then I don't believe it always needs to be that way. I am optimistic that they (and men) may change. TRP irritates me in that it talks primarily about women. There are few discussions of other men and how to act around them, and that's unfortunate. Understand that when people on RedPill talk about traits of women vs. traits of men, there are two variables at play. Random chance. Some women are more like men in some things, some men more like women, etc. Work. Women can become more like men in some things, and men can become more like women in some things if they make an attempt of it. People on TRP will often say that men are more logical than women, because that's the easy way to say it. The proper statement would be more like, "Most men …

I'm getting to the point where I'm tempted to ask the mods to ban the word alpha, because it's getting to be really stupid in here. An ALPHA man, a STRONG man, does not concern himself with what other people believe is strong so much as he is concerned with what he enjoys. An ALPHA man simply does what he needs/wants/can depending on his environment. There are no "traits" in particular that make an alpha except that he is not a beta. There are traits that we often see in alphas, but they don't a…

I see a lot of things that people post on this subreddit that are only half-right because conversation is so focused on women. TRP is focused on social dynamics with women, not with people in general, and that is one unfortunate but necessary fault with it. All people pedestalize. Worship is necessary for most people, in some form or another. Some worship a god, some worship their art, some worship celebrities, some worship political ideologies, and some worship people. We all do it, even the mo…

The vaginas of a 4 and a 10 probably feel pretty similar, but the validation one feels from bedding each of them is completely different. I was talking more about immature women versus mature women who have their shit together. It's more of a personality issue than one of looks. This all comes back to a theory of business. When you engage in any sort of relation with a woman (actually anyone at all, but in this case let's just talk women), you are making a trade, and in doing so, you are most likely engaging in a morally acceptable way. Free trade, by nature, means that both parties believe that they benefit from the other's offering more than they benefit from what they are offering. When you say you can't fully agree, does that mean you sort of see what she is saying? To me, Ayn is saying that men are really after conquest, not the actual physical pleasure. If you had read what the OP said, Pecan, it was that she DIDN'T want to have a fight. MRAs who deny women's issues are as awful as feminists who do the same to men. I complained and I was told that it must have been a misunderstanding, that men in his position would not do such a thing." Perhaps this could have been avoided had he married a reasonable woman who understood that sex is necessary for men to lead a physically and mentally healthy life. Nature versu…
