My problem is that if I do open up and the beliefs RP instilled in me, beliefs that I do not want to be true, are actually confirmed, I'll truly become embittered and a misogynist. And I don't want to go down the bitter MGTOW route. And regarding that last part, I don't know how rare or common women who are fine or even appreciative with displays of emotions are, so couplr that with a little bit of fear of being alone forever if I never find such a woman.

girls everywhere are warned young that when a man shows emotion look out because it's usually a red flag as he is going to hurt you I've never thought about it that way. I didn't even think that was the case. Do you think that, if I state the fact that all I look for is hugs and comfort if a moment of vulnerability comes up, that would help?

I am 22, as I said in my post. And it's more like it would confirm what RP said, that the women who are okay with their partner's displays of emotions and vulnerability are few and far between. Which is something that I don't want to be true.

I am more than capable of solving my own problems. If I get to the point of wanting to open up all I want is comfort, understanding and snuggles. That's how it went when I opened up to my friends (minus the snuggles part). Maybe, at most, I'd ask her if she has any ideas or advice regarding how to proceed. Hell, I believe even Obama asked his wife for her advice and input from time to time.

What do you truly have to lose? My hope in humanity and it would confirm the belief that RP instilled in me that I don't want to be true.

So you completely deny the existence of women who behave like that?

I am emotionally withholding because it's usually men who get punished or break their partner's perceived image of them when we are vulnerable, not the other way around. It honestly looks like a lose-lose situation.

either to open up to your girlfriend and learn to cherish her and your feelings Problem is I'm too scared of doing that and having it backfire to do that. Even if that might be the logical thing to do. I'm just not brave enough.

How exactly am I treating her the RP way? I don't run dread game, I don't pester her about becoming a housewife or some shit like that (I don't even like the idea of a housewife), I don't care about her past, I don't try to control her life, I express how proud I am of her, I do stuff for her (we both have acts of service as a love language), and I am actually affectionate, but not that much. I empathize with her when it comes to her problems, I always lend an ear should she need it or a shoulde…

And she doesn't? She may become resentful of me. I'm scared I'll become resentful of everyone else because it'll confirm my fears. I also don't know why you start attacking me and calling me a sexist asshole.

I guess on one hand I wished to vent a little and get this off my chest, and on another hand I wished for some advice regarding what to do, and I received it... which is either face my fear or run from it as I intended.

Do your parents have to know exactly what it’s for? My parents believe that the psychologist is for those people who have harder problems, like depression, trauma, or other personality disorders. If I go to them asking for money to get therapy, they will go crazy wondering what the hell happened to me that I need therapy, and if I tell them that the internet poisoned my mind they will either dismiss it because they can't really fathom that such a silly thing can have the repercussions that it ev…

Think how many men you have seen, compared to the millions who did not have this problem? How can I know there's MILLIONS who didn't? I don't get a glimpse in the relationships of that many people.

If you break up with her, she cries a little, and gets over you? That sounds very dehumanizing. Isn't that what people do after break-ups? How is it dehumanizing? I avoid wasting both of our times.

I guess I just have too little experience to see whether they are telling the truth, lying, or somewhere in-between.

Technically, no beatings yet, as I have not opened up to any woman to have it backfire (i.e. hypothetical "beating") and I'd prefer to keep it at 0.

without thinking about how that would impact her I did think about it. She's smart and beautiful. She'll cry a bit, vent to her friends about what a fuckwad I am, and then she'll get on with her life and, sooner or later, find someone else. you clearly want to cling to your unfounded paranoia My paranoia is founded upon hours after hours of reading accounts from men who've had this happen to them. I found them when I watched a video from, I believe, Hamza, where he was talking about not being em…

Is the cat alive or dead? You're not curious? Considering how jaded I might become if the cat's dead, not really.

I wouldn't say that I prefer being emotionally unavailable, it's just that my brain has a very negative reaction when thinking of being emotionally vulnerable and all the ways it can go wrong. I am also not completely emotionally unavailable. I often listen to her, ask her how she feels, and whether she needs to vent and cry a bit or if she is looking for my input regarding solutions to a certain problem. When it comes to her emotions, I am aware and open and understanding. It's mine that I have…

The ones that use it against him - They're the lowest type. They're exactly the women whose opinions you shouldn't care about. Throw it behind your back & move on from such types. What if those are the only types that I'll ever encounter in my romantic life? I DO NOT believe that all of them are like that, I know some who are definitely not like that one bit (tried and tested by other fellow men), but the tricky part is being lucky enough to a) Find such a woman; b) Be attracted to her (more tha…

By breaking up with her instead of doing what I think will end the relationship (opening up) I basically end the relationship on my own accord and feelings intact instead of opening myself up and then having it all used against me, her losing respect and attraction to me which will end with her either breaking up with me herself or cheating on me. Basically I end up with a scratch instead of an amputation.

She may be concerned that I do not open up to her yet I am afraid she might stop looking at me the same after I do. I do not afford therapy, I barely afford rent, utilities and food.

As in, I break up with her knowingly instead of having her break up or cheat on me after she loses respect because she perceives me as weak after being vulnerable and/or crying. Ending things on my own accord as it is the little control I have over things.

Hey, I think it's great that you behave like that. You sound like a lovely person and the world definitely needs more of you out there :) However, here's the thing, I do not invalidate the existence of women like you, I am just skeptical about my luck in finding such a woman, and this skepticism is what causes my anxiety and fear. I don't want to become one of those MGTOW losers who look at a woman with contempt because of all the bad experiences he had. However, regarding your last point, I dou…

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to encourage me to walk the right path, I too wish I could get therapy, however I know my parents and how they'd take it. If I say "Mom, dad, I need you to give me some more money so that I can get some therapy because things have been rough" would get translated in their heads as "Mom, dad, something so bad happened to me that I seriously need help from the person who helps people with severe depression and emotional and psychological trauma, but I can'…

As I said in both my post and another comment, it's not so much as talking to her because she might very well be on board at first, as much as she might say and really actually mean it when she says that she'll be supportive, but when push comes to shove and it actually happens, the reaction might be different (negatively), even if that's not what she intended.

Imagine living your life with such a person. Imagine crippling yourself emotionally because your partner is too toxic or immature to let you be human. 🤮🤮 Who would want a relationship like that? Hence the reason why I am contemplating breaking up and staying single. The right woman will absolutely love and appreciate your sensitivity and tenderness. I have trouble believing I'll be lucky enough to find her.

I barely have money to cover rent, utilities and food, so definitely not enough for therapy. My darling university also doesn't have any options and I am still on my family's insurance and it feels silly to ask my parents for therapy sessions because of stuff I read on the internet. They might be loving and supporting and didn't instill toxic masculinity beliefs in me, but they still consider therapy to be something you do if you have very, very serious mental health problems or have gone throug…
