I wouldn't call them proto-rapists, but they are definitely engaging in sexual harassment and sexual assault, and the only reason that it is accepted by the other men in the group is specifically because of this rape culture we have built in our society. Of course male abuse (emotional and physical) of women is atrocious, but it is looked down upon almost universally in our legal system and in American society.
