That's a 3% difference. It doesn't back up his argument that men uniquely struggle to get sex compared to women. If 90% of men aren't virgins vs. 93% of women, that doesn't paint a picture of only men having a hard time ever getting sex. Far from it. If women only got 3% more matches than men on dating apps, no one would be complaining about it 😂

This. I've seen men claim 80% of men aren't having sex and my head explodes. They're announcing out loud they don't have any friends (and they often admit this when I ask them) because no one who socializes even a little bit would believe that. And if they don't have friends, it's not their looks that are the problem, but they can't accept that. There's a weird growing epidemic of average-looking, sometimes even above average, men who believe they are ugly and start to hyper-fixate on their appe…

Look up the history of prostitution. Look at how limited women's options were. If a woman ended up widowed but had kids who relied on her, she couldn't just fill out a job application. Women couldn't even own property. She wasn't choosing between prostitution and a job or a good man; she was choosing between prostitution and starvation. Women didn't enter the profession for shits and giggles. You sound so incredibly ignorant here I don't have words. Must be nice to be so ignorant, seriously.

I used to interact with various groups on X - red pill, black pill, incels, MRAs, etc. It is genuinely astonishing how many fake fscts these groups make up and spread. And men consider themselves the logical sex while never bothering to do any actual research! Their propaganda spreads so easily because the guys who eat it up don't think critically. Exhausting and scary.

A lot of people don't want to date their looksmatches when they're unattractive. I've known both men and women like that. So I don't disagree, but sometimes it's not the woman rejecting men who look like her; it happens the other way around too.

He pulled it out of his ass. It genuinely astonishes me how many people run their mouths on topics they've never bothered to Google even the one time. "Sex abstinence rates are rising from coast to coast among adults ages 22 to 34, according to the National Survey of Family Growth. Ten percent of young men and 7 percent of women say they are still virgins." https://style.news.am/eng/news/105988/americans-losing-interest-in-sex-virginity-becoming-a-trend?.html

Unattractive women also exist. Femcels exist. Have they been failed by the new societal standards as well? And you're right, they're not comparable. The prostitute was often born in a lower class, needed money, was used by men for their pleasure, and then only she bore the consequences of that. No one is harming or using men who can't get a date. Love that you call prostitution a moral failing as though society didn't consider it a necessary evil because of men's lust. Most prostitutes were from…

That's not what I said. I said unattractive women struggle so not all women are equal when it comes to accessing sex and romance. Femcels exist. Ugly women exist. Socially awkward women exist. The bottom 50% of women on Hinge get ~7% of the likes.

I'm a switch and my boyfriend is a sub who thinks he's a switch. It's kind of adorable. I've actually known a lot of men with high-earning careers who are subs. The last thing they want when they come home is to have even more responsibility; they want to let go. So naturally they gravitate toward women who are doms. The most dominant guy I ever dated was not very far up the totem pole of life and it felt like overcompensation for his lack of power IRL and ended up being a turn-off. I've known h…

Sex and romance aren't equal for women now any more than they are for men. I've known unattractive and socially awkward women who struggle mightily in the sex and dating realms. A lot of men conveniently forget about them when they claim women have it easy while some men get left behind. And the past patriarchy was quite literally restrictive of women. No one is restricting men. You can't compare a culture that didn't allow "good" women to have sex while looking the other way when it came to pro…

This hasn't been my experience as a woman at all. Hell, most couples I know started dating in their early 30s. But I'm in a big blue city where settling down later is the norm.

Most of my male peers wanted to party while young and settled down with age too. It's so funny to me when people try to paint women as idiots for being normal humans who think drinking and dancing are the most fun thing ever in their early 20s and then get bored of it. That's just human. My 20something co-workers want to hit the club and my 30something+ co-workers wouldn't go near a club if you paid them. Getting mad at that is too funny...

I slept around and did drugs plenty in my 20s. Last year at 36 a place in another country refused to sell me wine because they didn't believe I was born in '88, thought my passport was sketchy, and I didn't have a debit card with my name because I was just carrying cash. Started a new job at 37 this year and every single co-worker thought I was in my 20s and was stunned when they found out otherwise. Also, this: "Sex can actually help slow down aging, according a 2017 study published in the jour…

You don't even have to be a gym bunny. I've known women who just walk a ton and they look so much better than people who are sedentary. Every adult should walk, bike, rollerblade, jog, or whatever a few times a week minimum. Use the free step counter on phones and make sure you're moving. The biggest issue with aging is that people put weight on and their bad habits accelerate collagen loss.

This. I broke up with a guy at 30; nothing about my dating life changed in terms of how much effort & money men were willing to spend on me. Same thing at 36. I'm now with a guy who happily provides for me. (I work 30 hours/week & do the cooking.) And zero Botox! I wish people focused more on sun protection & skincare & less on freezing their faces but that's just my opinion. Botox can look good sometimes but just isn't my thing. Basically as you age you can tell who's taking care of themselves …

No, I saw the rather! I agree with you given that choice plenty of guys would go for the 7. But I also do think family and social opinion matters to some guys in varying degrees. It was kind of scandalous when my uncle married my aunt because she was from a lower class background; he didn't care, but some of his brothers were surprised by his choice. There's who we'd ideally want left to our own devices and then who is socially appropriate as our spouse; the higher up you go in income/status, th…

If you want to live your life based on the potential judgment of people who don't even know you or your situation well, be my guest. I'm quite happy not caring what other people think of me as long as I don't harm anyone. And I've never judged someone for remarrying quickly because grief is a hell of a thing to go through and good on them for finding happiness. Your outlook sounds seriously miserable; you're performing for an audience who doesn't care or think about you as much as you seem to th…

Sure, but a lawyer or doctor will probably find a 7/10 who's doing better for herself than working as a barista. And I'm sick of arguing this point with guys when they've studied this extensively. Most people marry someone of a similar socioeconomic background. Yes, exceptions exist, but no, it's not the norm for a high achieving guy to marry a barista. ETA that it's hilarious you think a lot of what you mentioned is "BS." You're loudly and proudly announcing you don't get how much social circle…

I like this, way more nuanced than what I've seen a lot of people define it as. Completely agree. As a woman I've always assumed it's just that having someone better in some ways makes us feel safe, and that's a necessary feeling to want to have children. I've typically dated up on income and self-discipline; it makes me feel taken care of. I'm not a materialistic person so in my case it really is just about feeling secure; dating a guy on my income or discipline level feels less stable and more…

Dating apps don't take how women date into account almost at all imo. Women need to 1) feel safe with a man, which usually happened via social proof before OLD, 2) pretty much need to meet a guy in person to know if he's attractive or not (maybe not all women but me personally & a lot of women I know), & 3) need to know a guy's personality, which is very poorly conveyed in an online profile. Dating apps are pretty much all a majority men. And that makes sense to me - it removes the awkwardness o…

45% of marriages are now egalitarian in earnings or the wife makes more. That's a definite shift in women dating up on income. I expect we'll see a trend toward even more egalitarian or wife-breadwinner marriages in the future. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2023/04/13/in-a-growing-share-of-u-s-marriages-husbands-and-wives-earn-about-the-same/

45% of marriages now are either egalitarian in earnings or the woman makes more. I expect that number to go up now that a slim majority of law and med school students are women. As women continue to make their own money, they will have less and less of a need to land a breadwinner partner.

So how would you define hypergamy?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/26 07:34 PM

Men absolutely do give a damn. Every single tall girl I know has encountered guys who don't like that she's taller than they are.

That's what women tell you about their break-ups? Or you just find it easier to believe women flippantly end relationships than some guys aren't great partners? I don't know a single woman who's ended a relationship because she was bored. There's always been a concrete reason. And there's so much research on why women initiate divorces; "boredom" has never been a top reason cited.

You mentioned you and your wife. That's one couple. It's like if I said most people are straight and you were like no, I'm gay! Duh, gay people exist, but the majority are still straight. Similarly, after decades of knowing many high income people, I can say with confidence most rich guys are not getting with baristas. But they've also written a TON on this subject. There's so much research. Google couples and socioeconomic status. Most people are with someone of a similar status. In recent deca…

I personally have never met a high earning man with a barista. I then talked about general truths for people who make a lot of money and said, again, most high-earning guys I know are with a woman who's also high-earning. That leaves plenty of room for exceptions. There are exceptions to every general rule. But yeah, most high-earning men are not dating baristas. This is such a dumb convo...

I didn't say a dental hygienist wasn't in the same environment. I mentioned baristas. I've known a lot of doctor-nurse couples or couples where one's higher up in their field than the other. I also said most couples are from the same socioeconomic background, not all. So obviously couples like yours can exist. And again, I didn't focus just on job. I said high-earning men need someone who can fit into their social circles and behave appropriately, and that most meet someone via their life path, …

Yeah, if I'm being honest, the women I've known who are perpetually single are that way for a reason. They either want a guy who's more attractive than they are, are in "situationships" aka sleeping with a guy who doesn't take them seriously, refuse to do anything to meet men besides scrolling dating apps, or have some issues they aren't working on. A lot of people just seem kind of delusional about what they have to offer vs. what they want, both men and women.

I don't agree on the jobless part. That's a big financial burden to take on and plenty of guys I know wouldn't take it unless she was going to stay home with the kids. And is this jobless woman homeless when they meet? Living with her parents? I can 100% agree guys don't care much what a woman's career is but guys take it to extremes that just don't match my lived reality. A guy who's desperate or really well off might be down to bankroll a woman's whole life, but I don't think most guys want to…

I've never had a woman be so vague about a break-up. It's usually more like "I was basically his live-in maid" or "he was DMing other women" or "he wouldn't stop drinking" or "his anger issues never got better." I'm not sure why guys leap to not taking women seriously when they say a relationship had issues. Plenty of people are not particularly healthy and aren't good partners. The happy couples I know who have lasted are good to each other and don't seem to fear randomly being broken up with.

It's the height of selfish and self-obsessed to think that a person who breaks up with you shouldn't date someone new because it bothers you. You don't own the people you date. Plenty of women have had a guy leave, sometimes for the woman he cheated with, yet I don't see women saying men's rights should be taken away over it. It's insane you think you're being rational when you're basically saying women owe undying loyalty or else they shouldn't be surprised men hate them and want their rights t…

You're just proving a point women make about modern men. In the past, women didn't have the option to leave. Now they do. And men are reacting as though women have somehow wronged them by not having to stick around for a bad relationship. You can't force someone to stay with you anymore. Women aren't financially dependent on men the way they used to be; they can take care of themselves, so romantic relationships are a choice, not a requirement. I know plenty of happy long-term couples. The guys …

This. I'm not a professional and I've never had trouble dating. I'd say high-earning men typically care a lot about whether you can behave appropriately in social settings, but I've met professional women who fail at that and non-professional women who excel at it. But my job has never been an issue for most men. I have known some high earners who don't want to date too far down on income because they want to maintain their nice lifestyle, but they're a minority among guys I've known. I always j…

It's not that men care about degrees per se, it's that most couples are from similar socioeconomic backgrounds. That's just reality. The guy who's a legacy at Harvard is not dating a barista; he's meeting his future wife at college, at work, or via his high-income social circles. There are exceptions but they're exceptions. I grew up in a high-income area so I'm always baffled by guys who claim high-earning men would happily date a McDonald's cashier cuz no, they wouldn't. High-powered careers r…

I agree that guys don't care as much about a woman's career, but most couples are from similar socioeconomic backgrounds. I don't know a single high-earning man who's with a barista, and I grew up in a high-income area. I'm kinda baffled you think you have the right to dictate who other people want to date. And I know plenty of women in high-earning professions who are in LTRs. Doctors, lawyers, financial advisors, project managers in tech making bank. In many cases, they met their boyfriends or husbands at work, so no, I don't think "men" are intimidated by successful women. It's very much your problem if you view sex for women as "getting used like a Fleshlight." That attitude is exactly the problem. Sex should be enjoyable for both parties, it's not just for the benefit of the man.
