As far as push back, if my husband does something that hurts my feelings I might pout and not let him kiss me. This makes him laugh which makes me laugh. He’ll grab me when he says I’m “being bad” if I get snappy or something and spank me or pull me on his lap. It’s all just lighthearted. Sometimes I might stretch it on a bit longer like he’s not getting away with it this time. We have a very strong relationship so it’s just silly. I think the bigger picture as far as having standards is being o…

Well I don’t know about your situation specifically, but men do like to feel challenged. Challenge is to the masculine as ease is to the feminine. Now the challenges need to be attainable, something they can achieve. I notice with my own husband- who I have a very stable and happy life with- that if I’m only happy and easy going for too long, he gets a little checked out from me. He likes an opportunity to need to meet my expectations. If I give some attitude or pushback, he has an opportunity t…

Most men don’t respond well to hearing our grievances. They hear it as criticism. They want us to be happy and they hate feeling responsible for any unhappiness. Also I think they’re all genetically programmed to gaslight under pressure. Have you read The Surrendered Wife? It gave me so much insight into how to better communicate with my husband. I’d also recommend Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. I had so many lightbulb moments reading both of those. Our life is so much more stressful a…

He said he was never really interested in sex and he went years in his 20s without sexual contact. Sounds like he was shy as a teenager and got used to masturbating instead of pursing women for sex and this is his way of twisting it. That’s totally within the realm of normal especially nowadays. Him pursuing her for a relationship and having a child with her while being truly asexual would be extremely unusual so I would go with the much more likely scenario- which is that he’s experiencing a lo…

I agree that she should not settle for a sexless marriage. We all want to feel desired and enjoy an intimate connection. She’s gotten many comments telling her to leave so she’s completely validated if that’s what she wants to do. But it sounds like she doesn’t want to leave. Breaking up your family and sharing time with your child is heartbreaking and very difficult for many years. So it’s completely understandable that it’s not what she wants. And it may not be one or the other. I love being e…

Have you read Laura Doyle? My husband has had a lower drive since the beginning of our relationship (and I know it’s not just me because he said it was an issue in other relationships as well.) It seemed to get worse as time went on. We had lots of discussions about it, I cried a lot, I brought up how infrequent it was with numbers to back it up. The Surrendered Wife completely transformed this for me and helped me see the ways I was unknowingly turning my husband off- like mothering, being fraz…

Try reaching out to a staffing agency. They work with people of all education and experience levels and set you up on assignments that oftentimes turn into permanent employment. I don’t have a college degree and I went through a staffing agency and ended up with a pretty well paying job with a Monday- Friday schedule and great benefits. I quit my job after I had a baby- after I took my 4 months of fully paid maternity leave.

I would find opportunities to bring up the beautiful bouquet he got you and gush over it. “I will never forget that gorgeous bouquet you got me for our first Valentines. You have such great taste!” The more you praise him for his efforts and reflect on the good things he’s done, the better things will get with time. I told my husband for the first several years of our relationship that I would love to be sent flowers at work. He never sent me flowers at work and didn’t buy me flowers for a few y…

That is so sweet! It’s such a great way to bring out their best side.

Well she didn’t say her husband has been diagnosed with low testosterone or that he’s struggling sexually and it sounds like she’s asking about how to improve his masculine personality attributes. I am a huge fan of lifting weights and I think everyone would benefit from it but raising a man’s testosterone does not translate to him being a manlier man in the sense that I think she’s looking for.

I don’t really equate physical strength with masculinity. Of course men are naturally stronger but there are a lot of men with big muscles and big trucks who are physically very masculine, and I often find them especially effeminate. Sometime it’s the muscles themselves- it can feel performative and vain, and that feels weak and effeminate. Masculinity is all about the heart to me. I don’t think you should push your husband about the gym, maybe it’ll come naturally to him but pushing him will li…

Help him grow in confidence in his strong traits. “You’re so smart! How do you know so much about _____?” “I’m thankful you’re so wise with money.” “Thanks for getting us home safely.” “Thank you for staying on top of the bills.” “You’re such a natural leader.” Whatever it is that he does well, encourage it with praise and appreciation. Speak highly of him in front of other people. I read in a book that one of the most humiliating things for men is when their wife jokes about how they’re messy o…

I love Laura Doyle’s work, especially the Spouse Fulfilling Prophecy. I would read her book and start saying things like “I’m so thankful you take such good care of yourself,” “I’m glad our kids will have a great man like you to look up to,” “You always prioritize your health.” My husband decided to quit vaping and then eventually quit nicotine altogether and both were totally his idea. I think the SFPs help them to see themselves in a better light and shift their identity of themselves to a mor…

Since you’re not feeling any kind of strong drive to any higher degree, I don’t think it’s worth pursuing considering what you want from your life. I think it can become a problem if you start earning a really high income if your intention is to be a stay at home mom. Men tend to think practically and if their wife makes just as much as them or more, the practical thing is for her to continue earning money. In most situations, wives start staying home because it’s the most practical choice. That…

You’re making yourself unattractive to him when you start fights about this. If there’s any chance of him being interested in her, it’s because you’re making him feel like you don’t trust him and because you’re giving him a hard time. A girl who’s laughing and having a fun time at a party can be appealing to a guy who’s feeling beat down. You can root your security in sending him off knowing he has a happy, amazing girlfriend who trusts him. It means a lot to men to be trusted. Your boyfriend so…

And I’m sure if I ask my husband “Do you want advice?” he would say yes. But that’s not the dynamic I want. I want to convey that I have so much faith in him, it wouldn’t occur to me to offer advice. He’s made some decisions that I haven’t felt totally on board with. Usually from a scarcity mindset on my end- feeling like a big expense could have better gone towards something I’m wanting or feel we need. But I try to tell myself that mistakes were always going to be a part of it. No great man ha…

You are doing great!! I totally relate to this. What helped me is really believing in what I was doing and seeing results. I believe that if I give my husband advice for his business, I will plant small seeds of self doubt that could potentially snowball into him not feeling very confident as a business owner or not feeling a strong sense of responsibility for his business. And I want him to feel that he can talk to me about his problems, which he would not if he felt that I would always have a …

Yes it’s wrong to bring up selling the watch. It’s your scarcity mindset coming through. Like someone else said- you would have more respect for anyone else in your life and would never dream of suggesting they give a gift back to you so you could recoup the money. Your husband deserves that respect and more. It sounds like he’s just digging his heels in at this point because he knows you want him to wear the watch. Trusting that he will take charge of his health is part of respecting him. I don…

I’m so sorry. No one would fault you for leaving. What was your relationship dynamic when you first got together? I would consider the possibility that this may not be about him wanting you to be more fun. Men are generally so bad at articulating their feelings that they grab onto something easier to put their finger on and focus their bad feelings there. It may sound like complaints about lack of sex, complaints about wife’s weight, wife not having a job, a messy house- or a wife who’s no fun a…

It sounds like you have a great man who wants to take care of you. I think you should show him respect by letting him pay for your bills and whatever else he wants without asking if he’s sure or offering to pay. It can actually be interpreted as disrespect. Trust that if can’t afford something, he will let you know or figure it out. Stress feels awful for women, but men thrive under stress. He will likely start earning more money as he’s feeling the pressure to provide. This will help him to gro…

I would send him things you want and say “I would love this! 😍” even “I would love this for my birthday.” Say things like “You spoil me” and “You’re so generous.” If he gets you anything no matter how small, use that as your opportunity to talk about how you love how he always gives you the best gifts, always remembers things you tell him, etc. Basically, guide him to water by telling him exactly what you want and make him associate gift giving with his identity.

Yeah I don’t think femininity is really about looks or how you talk. Receptivity the essence of femininity. So that looks like receiving help and gifts graciously, being open to receiving ideas and suggestions, being a good listener. You can be more feminine by being open to all the ways the world is trying to give to you. If you’re in the habit of saying no when the bagger asks if you need help to your car, say yes. That practice has led to some beautiful interactions in my life. I used to be s…

I’ve felt exactly as you do before and cried a lot of tears over it. I’ve learned that in a long term relationship, his desire for you has more to do with your day to day interactions than how you look. Stop all conversations about frequency. Even if it helps on a short term basis, you’re framing sex with you as a chore in his mind. It’s something he’s getting nagged about. It’s not making him desire you any more, in fact it’s having the opposite effect. Have you read Laura Doyle? She says respe…

Nurture him with your feminine receptivity. You don’t have to earn your keep. ❤️ I used to struggle with this because it’s ingrained in us that we need to offer enough in return so that things will be balanced. Early in my relationship with my husband I was doing way too much. Your boyfriend is providing for you by cooking for you, and he is basking in your radiant feminine energy when you enjoy the food he makes. To keep things balanced- smile often, laugh at his jokes, light up when you see hi…

I’ve dealt with similar issues and if you want to approach this in a covert way (which is what I recommend,) first you need to stop giving blow jobs. You’re making yourself too available and accessible. It’s enabling him to be lazy and there’s no chase for him. But do it in a sweet way, say “aw sorry not tonight I’m too tired.” Don’t let him know you’re taking blowjobs off the table as a punishment. Again, it’s a covert operation. I’ve been there with my husband bending over backwards to please …

I think your desperation for children and concerns about the ticking clock (while valid) are making him feel the opposite of inspired. Even if on a basic level he does want to have children, he wants to feel like you want to have his children. Not just that you're scared of getting too old to have kids and any man will do. Even if that's not how you feel, I think that's what you're conveying. I'm going to give you Laura Doyle inspired advice. As hard as it might be, focus on being your happiest,…
