username checks out happy cake day thanks for the gold, kind stranger edit: OMG, I never thought this would be my top rated comment [The ecosystem collapse depicted in the Blade Runner sequel scares the shit out of me. The American paranoia about a Japanese takeover of American society seen in the original Blade Runner and other 80s movies seems comical though when viewed today. (Hindsight is 20/20.) I hope the shit in 2049 also doesn’t come true.]

More like Brave New Word. Actually, you should probably be extremely concerned about this. Unless you do some type of highly specialized job, you could be replaced by some combination of AI and slave labor.

Honestly that would suck for men and women. A group of elites could just breed a class of slaves to rule over.

The overly-hateful content is going to end up getting this subreddit quarantined. I really wish people would stop.

I get what you’re saying, but parasitism is also a survival strategy. (Evidently it’s pretty effective too, since we... you know... exist.) I think it makes more sense to say “judge a man on his cooperative tendencies” or something like that.

I think harami cuts on a mid-tier Japanese beef have better texture. I was a big fan of “aka-ushi” (赤牛) in Kyushu.

Use meetup.com and find some social events while you’re there. Connect with locals and then have them show you around.

That sounds more like China, imo. Everything is wealth and status over there.

The most expensive Japanese beef has a high fat content. I’m not a huge fan.

This applies to all people; women are just better at getting what they want.

The terms “legbeard” and “nice girl” used to be popular on reddit.

I think recruiters and teachers oversell the lifestyle a bit, to be fair. The people who can’t make it over here are the ones who obsess over their conception of how Japan should be vs. appreciating it for how it is.

Yep. You hit the nail on the head. If the unicorns do exist, they almost certainly prefer dating someone from their own culture.

I know an American man married to a Chinese woman. I mean... I knew him. Now he doesn’t hang out with friends anymore.

Believe it or not I am aware that Asian people are not a homogenous group. Still waiting for you to tell us where the good girls are..

Trust me, plenty of Asian girls will still cheat on your ass and use you for your skills or money.

Beta men are definitely part of the problem. The entitled behavior only persists because men tolerate it. They could become part of the solution though. Learning not to buy shit for strangers would be a good start.

Good luck fighting those market forces though. Employers get cheap labor, and millennials get that “authentic experience” they crave. If you wanna “make it” in Japan, you either have to own a school, become a university instructor, or do something that doesn’t involve English teaching. (I heard importing cars is 💴💴💴) Btw, there’s a law regarding the minimum amount that employers can pay a “Specialist in Humanities” visa holder. Apparently it’s about 200,000円 per month. Talking to some older coll…

Don’t forget the other side of the coin. The average eikaiwa school doesn’t give a fuck about quality of instruction, so they seek the kind of wage cucks you’re talking about. Also, the government favors high turnover for foreign workers. Better to have 10,000 short-term dweebs than 100 competent workers who stay and dilute the glorious Yamato gene pool..

TBH, even if you’re a hot girl, nobody actually cares. People just pretend a little harder.

Seriously. I think some people have been lied to about appearances and self-esteem so long that they’re delusional. For me, doing psychedelics helped me reign in my ego and self myself objectively. It wasn’t pretty at first.

I’ve been living/working in Japan about 5 years. IMO the main reasons are: ①Falling incomes. ②Lack of affordable daycare. ③Lack of free time. ④二次元 Because of the labor shortage, women are expected to enter the workforce and work as hard as men. Increased supply of workers lowers demand ⇨ men’s incomes decrease. Japan’s cultural values haven’t caught up to the economic reality, so even working women dream of quitting their jobs and becoming stay-at-home moms. Unfortunately, the average male salar…
