It's the division that benefits the rich. They pose the us vs. them in the form of men vs. women to distract from the constant oppression they support. They want women to focus on the fake patriarchy, and they want men to focus on the demonization of feminism. Don't buy their bullshit.

Kind of a pointless task. It'd be more fruitful to show them that their perceived "patriarchy" isn't a men driven conspiracy to subjugate them, but rather a group of rich, old, white guys trying to control everyone else. The enemy isn't the entire opposite sex, but the ultra wealthy who seek to maintain their wealth and power over everyone else.

If you want an actual answer to your question, you're asking the wrong subreddit. This is what we call an echo chamber. Post in r/AskReddit and you'll get some decent answers from both perspectives.

All weddings are symbolic. Assuming you are in the US, you're married from the point you sign the license. The ceremony is just a song and dance for you, the friends, and the families.

I mean, the obvious answer is that they have no obvious solutions to the problems that they see. Humans tend to oversimplify their problems when they can't find a solution. This is especially true as the problems get more complex. You'll often hear this when discussing international politics. "Oh yeah, we should just nuke X country." As if there would be no political fallout on the world stage. It's the same idea. They see men as the cause of their problems. They don't see obvious solutions yet …

That's not how logical fallacies work... You don't just make up new ones because you don't think the current ones are extreme enough. You've identified the fallacy in the argument. Point it out and move on. Outrage does nothing but give them more free real estate in your mind.

Honest answer: because it's about 50% legit criticisms of the ways men are treated in society and 50% incel or misogynist garbage. You know how TwoX spins everything with a hyperfeminist focus regardless of whether it truly applies? This sub does the opposite. There's a lot of hate for the female gender that doesn't actually further the cause of men's rights, and it makes the community as a whole look bad.

Seems like the stat is being misinterpretted. The survey that this comes from asked men if they've had sex in the last year, not at all/ever. Could just be a dry spell. It came from a 2018 survey, and women reported 18% at that time. Seems like historically men and women reported about the same +/- a few percent. The diverge seems to start around 2012-2014. Seems to have gotten worse since then. My only guess is the radicalization of younger men due to political divergence during the Trump years…

You're just picking and choosing the words you want to bitch about. Slut Karen Gold digger These terms are almost exclusively applied to women. Even terms like "crazy cat lady" are gendered towards women rather than men. Each gender has derogatory terms that have been created to shame or ostracize them. Men are not special in this regard.

This issue isn't even on the radar. He already has the demographic that would benefit most from this policy. Inciting more rage and focusing on the main body of Republicans will be his more. They'll all fall in line if he's their candidate. But my guess is that the Reps will pick someone else as he's just too controversial now.

Most people have privilege of some kind. Social systems will give inherent advantages to some groups based on how the laws were written and how social bias views the group as a whole. What people don't focus on is that most people also have disadvantages. When people harp on male privilege, they are focusing solely on the advantages that men have over other sexes/genders, while completely ignoring the disadvantages they have. If you need a list of them, just scroll through this thread. I'm sure …

Chivalry is just another word for sexism. It's just accepted by society as it's viewed in a positive light. Any behavior or policy that derives its motivation purely from the sex or gender of the person or group is, by definition, sexist. Treat people with the same amount of respect regardless of sex/gender. Personally, I do this for everyone and then add/withdraw respect based on how much is returned until it hits an equilibrium.

These arguments are made from an egocentric perspective. She was a knowing and willing adult. If you think about it from a defensive perspective it makes sense. Not the statement, but the mindset. She can't think of a solution to the problem. The problem scares her. In order to distance herself from the problem, she absolves herself of responsibility via pushing the blame onto others. It's pretty much giving into fear and ignorance rather than actually trying to contribute to the conversation in any meaningful way. We don't need a scapegoat, we need novel solutions for this issue.

I tend not to engage with that sort of thing. They just offer vague parameters and reference hyper-specific examples while denying that women do the same thing. What I will do is passive aggressively point out the hypocrisy by posting links to women sexualizing male actors, athletes, and musicians. Gotta remember to add a single word as commentary - something like "same" or "ditto".

Just because you don't like the definition or practical use cases for a term, doesn't make it wrong. The OP asked for the equivalent term for women - asked and answered. You've recognized an obvious bias in media that we all know exists. You can see the same issue with the terms misogyny and misandry. Everyone is familiar with misogyny because it's used way more commonly. A lot of people I know don't even know what misandry is. However, use in media is not what is being discussed, so you've miss…

Incel is not a gendered term. Regardless of what you are or what you seek, incel simply refers to anyone incapable of attracting their preferred parter for social, hygiene, political, etc reasons. Any sex or gender can be involuntarily celibate.
/r/MensRights11/11/22 08:04 PM

I think "femcel" applies to women who are such aggressive feminists that they repel 99% of guys. Incel tends to be more generally unable to attract your ideal partner. So I'd argue that femcel is a subset of incel.

Even if what they are saying is true, they've massively failed to communicate their intent clearly. No reasonable person should be expected to interpret "all gender" as "all non-male gender". Being "woke" doesn't excuse laziness and then ex post facto discrimination. I'd make a stand personally. Tell them to label it appropriately or you will continue to respect the signage as presented. They give you more shit, escalate to whoever is above the RA.

This is the exact argument I use each time. Like it can't possibly be true else you'd hear about rampant unemployment for men all the time. Qualifications can't be the issue as more women are now graduating from college vs men sooo....

I had never heard the pay vs wage gap argument. Fascinating. I'll have to look more into the differences for future discussion.

Just use modern data. There is still a roughly 5% wage gap between genders for most professions. However, most researchers attribute this to things like ambition, personal choice, and income vs fulfillment choices. You can let them have the win for it existing. But you can drill down to why it's not an issue based on the reasons researchers give for the discrepancy. Or you can shit on the original study how it basically summed all wages and divided by the number of people included and tried to c…

If the US went to war and tried to draft me, I'd dodge in a heartbeat. Unless I agree with the morality of a conflict, I'm not serving. The last legitimate war for freedom was WW2. Since then it's been politics and profiteering. A bunch of rich old white guys should not be determining when and where to throw away lives. I think this is more complex that people make it out to be. I agree with the premise that victims should not be blamed for the actions of others and that dressing a certain way is not "asking for it". But its important not to encourage unnecessary risk taking. If you're going out, don't walk through a shitty part of town by yourself. No you're not "asking for it", but don't be a fucking moron. You should use a reasonable amount of caution to avoid any unforseen consequences.

If you look for for a source, cannot find it, and continue to reject the information presented to you, you are engaging in confirmation bias. This is a huge problem in modern social media. Don't look for sources to support your specific argument and refuse to accept anything to the contrary. Seek the truth, not what you want the truth to be.

So initial points - The source is definitely biased being a men's rights group so keep that in mind. We never want to forget implicit bias. The video is from Fox News. You can definitely hear the attempt at fear mongering. What is more likely is that this is intended to be a pilot study. There probably isn't enough money to include all of the male homeless, so they were lazy and just excluded them. The study will likely run for a year or so and track outcomes. Then it could get turned into an ev…

I've always pushed for humanism. Each group wants to advocate for itself and it's members only. This doesn't solve the actual problem of inequality, it's just a tug of war that no one can possibly win. Do what feels right for you. Always listen and talk to people with differing opinions. It's how we avoid echo chambers and grow as people. Good luck 👍
/r/MensRights17/09/22 10:50 PM

This isn't really a mens' rights issue. This is just a personal preference. Wanna dress differently? Go ahead so long as you aren't infringing on another person's rights.

It's a delicate balance between trying to provide an objective viewpoint without overstepping and alienating the poster. To some extent I tried to get people to reflect on the idea and question their own belief rather than just shit on their post. Sometimes interesting discussions happen.

You nailed it. 100% an incel post. Unfortunately about 1/2 of the posts on this sub end up being general misogyny and incels looking for an echo chamber. Yeah no condescension goes a long way towards making people agree with you. It's a good look. Reading between the lines it sounds like you want all men to withhold relationships until there is a societal shift where women are forced to be sexually subservient in order to fulfill their relationship needs. Am I correct?
/r/MensRights11/09/22 06:02 PM

It clearly is not. Perhaps you think you've articulated something that isn't coming across. Hence why I asked the questions. If you don't want to expand, that's fine. But your end goal still remains ambiguous. Perhaps you could spell it out in more plain language?
/r/MensRights11/09/22 05:56 PM

I mean I was hoping for a more thought out expansion. Your proposal essentially boiled down to: women hold the power over sex and men hold the power over relationships. If they are going to withhold sex, men should withhold relationships and marriage. To what end? How does this actually address the problem? How does this play out in your mind long term? What's the end result you desire from this? It just seems like an arms race with no real winner... figured I'd engage to try to understand what …

I mean humor can be sexist. Intent matters. If you're poking fun at a societal stereotype, it's a joke. This is because you're providing social commentary behind the veil of a joke, making it more casual and palatable. If the joke is just shitting on a group or person, you're just hiding sexism/racism/xenophobia behind the veil of the joke. It's usually very apparent from context.

Really? It's a special interest group that aims at furthering the rights, benefits, etc of women. You could make the claim that it benefits society as a whole if done correctly, but modern feminism seeks more to drag other groups down rather than raise itself up independent of other groups. Personally I believe in humanism. We should aim to break down inequities among all people and focus on basic needs and rights that everyone deserves. Dividing our attention into smaller groups based on sex, g…

I think the issue is the number of parties involved. If someone drinks and drives or does some sort of impairing drug and gets injured, they alone have responsibility for their actions. If someone gets shitfaced drunk and propositions someone for sex, there is a second party involved. The second party, assuming they are sober, would take on some of the responsibility for evaluating whether consent can truly be given. Our laws place responsibility on the sober party. Just as a child could provide…

Title is a misinterpretation of the article. He was fired for calling out what he perceived as unfair bias in hiring women over men. This belief, a that a virgin women is more attractive to men is so true yet, This is not a commonly held belief. Modern people look past false constructs like virginity which only aimed to prove fatherhood in past times. In modern times, it only serves to preserve a man's ego and to restrict sexual behavior via shame. It is nestled in the fear that if a woman has more than one lover, she will abandon one she perceives as less competent. So yes, it is insecure and anti-progressive. the “preferenc…

Care to clarify on the specific situations where you were attacked for being a Christian? I've found that Christians often wave their religion in the faces of others under the guise of "witnessing" and trying to spread it to people who have no interest in it. You've misunderstood the meaning here. The definition even tries to clarify if you read on. A "crime against humanity" is something that the majority of people agree upon to be morally wrong, yet it is not illegal. For this definition to be accurate in your context, society in generally would have to share the common belief of your original post, which they do not. This is 1000% playing the victim.

Like "males tend to have more muscle mass" or "females tend to have higher body fat percentage due to physiology" so it's not talking about people directly, but about general facts. Unfortunately the females as dehumanization stems from the incel community where their aim is to make women feel subhuman as they feel scorned by society and women in general for not receiving at…
