I'm seeing this right now. My daughter has been raised fairly neutral for the most part. But right now her favorite colour is pink, she likes ponies rainbows and anything sparkuly. She will play with swords or cars with me, but the cars are friends and talk about their favorite flavors of ice cream. They only go Zoom to get to the icecream shop. I didn't do this. That's got nothing to do with patriarchy though. I'm happy to talk about the idea that social structures have different impacts due to a variety of elements and that gender is a small part of that picture (compared to elements like race and socio-economic status). But that's not the same thing at all. If you want to look at gender disadvantage, you need to be willing to look at statistically larger disadvantage also, otherwise its just cherry picking to suit a bias.

Also: crimes are more likely to be reported and prosecuted where there are actual damages. If I punch a wall, it has a dent that will need repairs. If my wife punches a wall, the wall is fine, and she has probably injured her wrist. The odds are good that my wife won't be reported at all, and will instead need medical treatment. By knowing their gender you assume other things about their life and experience that may or may not be completely incorrect. To some extent that's true. But it's more or less unavoidable. There will alwats be in-group and out-group bias, even in relatively homogenous collections of people. The biggest issues I have with it can be framed within the words used by the framework. Under the Duluth model, one party is "the one to define what actions are abusive". Just as the model states that "being the one to define male and female roles" is a category of power and control, so is having one person define abuse. The more important issue is that this is disabling and disempowering. Shelters have a great need for men who are safe. Trauma survivors require the presence of triggers in order to become desensitized to those triggers and practice their coping strategies. Creating a 'male-free' environment is more likely to create greater degrees of generalization as the client is taught to avoid any and all stimuli that might produce discomfort. For a little more nuance, it's the challenge of having swapped from minority to mainstream. When someone is in the minority, a dissenting voice, even on a minor point, threatens the unity of the sub-culture/coalition/organization. And since they're in the minority and fighting a battle to be heard, that unity is important and necessary.
