I did this. I just had a lawyer look over the paperwork. They were able to tell me what my total potential liability could be and what a good vs. a bad day in court could look like for me. Ultimately, my ex wife gave me a reasonable deal. I was ready to go full nuclear and fight, but that would have ended so badly for me.

I found out the same way as you. Total blind side. I would have never left my wife after we married. I’m now at the point where I am thankfully that she did it. I have now met a new woman who is night and day better. I am terrible at dating so if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Yeah my ex wife wanted to come back and I looked at her like she was insane. This would be the same look that I would give to you. She sounds so incompatible with you it’s not even funny.

Jesus, I’m in crazy cat lady online dating hell. This sounds like a “my lobster is too buttery” type of complain. “Oh my god guys, it’s terrible how easy it is to get sex”. Meanwhile the rest of us are crawling through the goddamn desert.

Let me be the one to say something negative about your wife - what an asshole. The way she left you on NYE after closing on your home was deplorable. Telling everyone except for you is unreal. She honestly sounds like a child. I’m sorry this happened to you. It sounds like you are doing the right things. Hopefully you are able to come to a resolution on the house and custody of your daughter. I know what it’s like to come home to an empty house for the first time in years. It’s not fun, but it g…

That’s rough, what a piece of work.

My ex-wife did this to me too. Came home and saw the summons tucked in the door of the house. Like others have said, it’s tough and it will continue to be hard for a while. However it does eventually get better. I was lucky, I had a dog - way better companion than my ex wife.

I hear you. I still remember leaving for work and waiving goodbye to my ex wife as she was packing up boxes on our front deck. I was half expecting her to still be there when I got back.

I have 18 more payments to go, I’m so happy for you! Enjoy it.

I had to pay alimony too in a 4 year childless marriage. I was shocked. My ex wife has more education than I do and she never made any career sacrifices while we were together. I am still gobsmacked that this is a thing.

That judge deserves all the bad karma in the world for that decision. What a prick.

I’m so happy I don’t live where you do. Have you spoken with a lawyer? That doesn’t seem right at all.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
