I get what people are saying about not leaving the family home in terms of divorce. But I did. I had to get out. I left. She is a lawyer. Denied everything to this day despite evidence.. and admissions from the guy. And I paid dearly. I lost everything. I still don't really care. I needed to get away from her. And I'm glad I did. It cost me a lot in the end so yes, recognize that, but I understand needing to go. Cheating doesn't have to be the end. If my wife admitted it and worked through it I …

I've heard of it. We know most people regret it even if briefly. I've never heard of it working. I mean what a mess that must be.. Personally I dream about it constantly. But I wouldn't do it.. Fuck no. Especially with kids. That's just mean. And after how mean and disgusting the divorce was I'm surprised we both survived. Then again, for all I know someone is drawing a bead on my back as I type this... lol Almost everyone idealizes what they had when it's gone. Me I fear the future never being …

My healing journey is a journey out of poverty and back into a comfortable independence. It doesn't look good on Instagram but I'll be fucking ecstatic if I can get there! Ugh. No I wish I could. Some days are so hard I can't breathe. Some days are fine. I've been left in one of the worst positions I have ever been in my life and I am a disabled Vet with PTSD who was a homeless alcoholic and junkie when I came home from the military. And honestly I don't remember hurting through that like I do i…

I divorced a lawyer. I used her own advice she gave to clients while I helped her build her own law firm before we divorced. "Imagine every text blown up in a court room for everyone to read". You have to be tactical with that shit. I would say (just me, not saying you should too, just as an example) "If I determine the kids are at risk of danger and that danger is sufficient I will make sure they wear life jackets but as of now we are away from the water, comfortably on land and I am easily abl…

Yo, fuck that movie. That shit made me sad WHILE I was married. And pissed me off.. Ryan Gosling went from fucking a mannequin to being like the sexiest guy ever... WTF, where'd this guy come from? It's like Gyllenhall, boy in the bubble to roadhouse badass. They're both my age so I pay attention and I decided I'm coming for their asses. I'm getting ripped too. I'm out there working my ass off every fucking day. It's either that or sit inside and hurt.

In time the anger fades. It took me 2.5 years and then I was suddenly sad. Still am. We can talk about things now as we have a daughter but anything related to the relationship is just irrelevant and neither of us will ever have any closure about it. It makes it hard but what is closure? It doesn't fix anything. Doesn't change the facts. It's just opinions and opinions concerning each other no longer are important to either of us. You likely will never get the answers or the sentiments you want …

If she took accountability we never would have divorced. I would have worked through anything. 24 years ago I was a drunk, homeless junkie with PTSD after the Army. I know you can come back from anything if you want it and work hard enough. When she met me I had a nice house with a big pool on the water, money in the bank, nice car, lots of toys and 10 years without so much as a sip of beer (now 17). Then she cheated and refused to admit it. It was early in our relationship and even though I bel…

No. I'm 3 years post divorce and I still don't want that. I don't want that at all. I want a wife and family again. I'm not 18 or 25 or even 35. I'm done with all that ho running shit. I just want what I imagined I had. but never did. Banging chicks is not going to heal anything, my marriage wasn't something I wanted to escape from and it was not because I was married that held me back from sex with strangers.. No, you do whatever you feel will help and I would add to try and not fuck anyone els…

You won't feel this way forever. You will likely regret this decision for far longer than you are in pain. I did something similar, I just didn't fight and kinda rolled over to get it done but trying to revisit this shit is near impossible. Get a lawyer, you don't have to be mean or screw her but hire someone to be fair to you too. Think of your kids at least. I gave up 2 houses and I'm struggling to get back into any house for my daughter and I. Stupid.

Here's the thing. This isn't about going back. Even if everything worked perfectly and we both wanted it there is no going back. This is about the horrible feelings of familiarity, friendship, shared experience, and a life we built together to live together as we have a child together coupled with the hate, animosity, and damage we have caused one another that make these interactions so confusing and difficult. It's not that I think she's too good to replace or one in a million, she's one of one…

I would love that I really would. I'm a disabled Veteran, she is an attorney from an extremely wealthy family. She put me into bankruptcy so I couldn't afford any representation by the time we got to the parenting agreement and I was way out of my depth in trying to negotiate without a lawyer. Anyway, I got 2 non-consecutive days a week (24 hrs) and 3 non-consecutive days a week alternating (never more than 24 hrs per visit, so M,W,F then Tu,Th) and she gets all holidays except fathers day and t…

Thank you!! Jesus. I was really questioning if I was completely broken. Why after all this time? I didn't think anyone else would even get it. How does it feel so comfortable and yet so terrible? And we do that all the time with the word slips btw. We say goodbye to our daughter at hand offs and as we walk away kind of regularly she'll say "bye, love you" toward me and it's very very awkward. It's embarrassing for everyone and every time it happens I think "Freudian Slip". And it drives me nuts …

100% I didn't handle it very well either but I think if either of us didn't fucking explode and keep exploding in this massive cascade we could've at least tried to do something. Neither of us ever apologized for anything, neither of us ever said "let's calm down and take a breath" even though that was my intention at first, it was just action, reaction, reaction, reaction, boom. Done. And it sucks but we both would've had to make changes that I'm not sure either of us were capable of at the tim…

I would worry that this will expand and become a much larger issue and eventually involve far more important things than classes and sports at which point you will have set a precedent for rolling over and allowing it. Then if you want to challenge she can show you have a history of letting her take the lead and now it's in the best interest of the child to continue that. That would be my fear.

I'm sorry, I'm neither of the people you asked but I am divorced. I regret the way the marriage went, it had to end so I'm okay with it ending but I'm sad every fucking day for 3 years now. We share a 3 year old, kind of amicably but that's a shit show for never. But here's the thing.. I cannot wait to get married again. I'll probably do it too soon with the wrong person because of how much easier everything is if I marry the right person and I'm too kind and think everyone is right in the momen…

Its been 23 years since I became a 100% disabled Veteran at 20 years old and watched the prospects for my life evaporate and become a monthly government check that allows me to live but prevents me from living well. I am the Hulk now. I'm always angry.

I heard this advice somewhere a long time ago and really resonated with me as a kid who went through the same thing. Kids just want to be part of your life, to be included. I remember I liked going to my dad's shop with him more than I did the zoo. I have more great memories of bread fights in the grocery store than the trips to Disney World. I don't clear my schedule for my daughter anymore. I take her with me and make everything we do fun, of course we still do zoos and aquariums and museums a…

There's no guarantee the judge will grant 50/50 and even highly likely meant there was a chance I would lose significant access to my kid. I wasn't willing to accept any risk if it could be avoided.

I regret how fast we split. It was years ago. It probably wouldn't have changed anything but that's exactly why I didn't need to rush. Temporary changes are temporary. You can do whatever you feel is right but what's holding you back? Is it worth exploring that? I don't know. The split is for good. There's no going back. People take sides, all the dynamics change, it's gone. I don't think it was a mistake but I'm not 100% positive that it wasn't either. It took years to see that there was no nee…

Yeah, that's how I take it. And because no one gets married with the intention of failure. It's usually a very hopeful and happy thing and despite expectations it failed, so yeah, I don't take it to mean they're sorry about the divorce itself. I take it as they are sorry that we weren't able to get what we wanted from our marriage, that what we set out to accomplish, that the life we once envisioned for ourselves and one another will never be a reality. That is a loss. I agree divorce was my onl…

Have the thought and let it go. Otherwise you're doing the same. "That childish jerk wrote "have fun in your apartment" on reddit". I get it. But I try real hard to just let the thoughts pass through.

Judges don't give a shit what she could have. It's a split of your assets. She could win the lottery tomorrow she's still entitled to half the shit from the marriage, at least half. Inheritance doesn't mean she has less rights to the marital property. My ex is an attorney, be glad you don't have to go through that shit.. I'll never be whole again. If you can come to an agreement or at least mediate you'll be better off. You still need a GOOD attorney, and don't judge by hourly rates. A shit atto…

I think you're doing a good thing, just don't pay attention to what the mom does, I say treat it as though it comes from the kid or ignore it. I send my daughter home with stuff all the time. We do big projects for Mothers Day, for Mom's BDay, all the holidays. I see a lot of people seem to be against that. But I say someday my daughter will be an adult, she will remember that Dad never gave a shit about the drama, he did stuff that was a lot of fun doing together, stuff that taught consideratio…

I left. Ultimately I chose it. I didn't initially intend divorce but that's how it escalated. It's a long long story, as they tend to be. I guess I didn't feel like I had the right to take half of what we built together. Despite everything, it just didn't feel right. (Not to mention I would have had to fight that too, and fund the fight. The only fight I cared about was for my daughter. But if I'm honest my entire decision was ultimately shortsighted. Had I suffered in silence my daughter who is…

I had 6 hotdogs on a plate last night for dinner, microwaved at 1am. My lawyer ex wife from an ultra wealthy family just got a new kitchen in the house I paid for with VA benefits. Our 3 year old daughter had a catered party with a decorator and a theme?? The house is also where her law firm that we built together (as I supported her lack of income to quit her previous firm and start it) is based. Her lawyer boyfriend -of before we were divorced- (yup) just bought a new boat. I'm a 100% disabled…
