No! Steroids, if not taken “responsibly,” can fuck up a whole lot of thins—thyroid, liver, kidneys, heart, brain.

Shitty advice! OP, don’t “hop on gear” at 21. Get your free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, and thyroid (TSH, fT3, fT4) tested.

15% BF at 200 lbs for a 20-year-old 6’3” man is not a great accomplishment. You can do much better naturally. What you wrote above proves what I am saying—you’re not ready. Why? 1. Low dose is not going to do shit for you. 2. You won’t need an AI for low dose test, and if take any you’re likely going to crush your E2, which is a horrible feeling. 3. You probably don’t know anything about dosing, half-lives, symptoms, side effects, HPTA, bloodwork, etc. 4. Yet, you’re going to shut yourself down,…

You’re not ready for steroids—you’re too young, don’t know how to train or eat, are impatient and don’t do proper research. You are going to have a bad time if you do a cycle now. Even with a broken wrist, you can train upper body using machines—pec flys, reverse pec flys, lateral delts, maybe more. Try harder.

Great book! I would also recommend Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus on the subject. I believe reading the Stoics (Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus) also helps.

I prefer listening to the concise edition and reading the full one. The full one is full of historical stories, which is overwhelming for me to listen to.

You didn’t do your homework before posting to /r/testosterone, and you’re now posting here. Get extensive bloodwork: testosterone (free and total), estradiol, SHBG, TSH, liver, kidneys, cortisol, cholesterol, vit. D, LH, FSH, albumin, prolactin. If your doctor doesn’t want to do it (he or she probably won’t), then pay for it yourself. If in the US, get the sensitive estradiol test. Without blood tests, it’s all guessing. Everybody is going to tell you a different thing—zinc, magnesium, calcium, …

Go to /r/fitness. That won’t work! You will starve yourself. You won’t build muscle, but will probably loose the little you already have. Building muscle requires caloric surplus. And you gain fat. Then you cut. A recomp is possible, but after a bulk.

Yoga is great, esp. if you lift. Listened to a podcast (Joe Rogan) with Dorian Yates. He and Joe were saying how great daily yoga is.

Not sure if it was said before, I didn’t read all the “don’t marry!” comments, with which I agree. Get your hormones (testosterone, thyroid, etc.) checked. You may have low T.

Why is /r/Fitness garbage? As a beginner, why would he want to do strength and cardio on the same day? HIIT is great, if he can do it. I strongly disagree about doing accessories. It make things too complicated and his gains from them are going to be minor. That time and energy would be better spent on cardio.

This question is better suited for r/Fitness or r/bodybuilding. You want answers, but won't share the exact number? Weird. BMI doesn't mean anything. What are your weight, height and BF%? Pick a full body program from r/Fitness. Do compounds (deadlifts, squats, bench, OHP, etc.). Stick with it for at least 6 months. Don't overcomplicate things with accessories. You do NOT need curls, face pulls, tricep kickbacks, etc. Do cardio on non-training days. Whatever you can: walking, running, jumping ro…

That sucks. Get bloodwork done: total T, free T, SHBG, E2, Thyroid. TRT may be an option. Another poster suggested PCT. But first get your blood tested.
/r/askTRP02/05/18 04:44 PM

I disagree. Beginners have no idea what they’re doing at first. The less exercises, the better. Sticking to the bit compounds and adding accessories gradually seems like a better plan to me.

Check out /r/Fitness sidebar. They have some very good beginner programs (5x5 suggested by another poster is also there, I believe). Pick one and stick with it for at least 6 months. Edit: compounds are very taxing on your nervous system. 3 days are enough at first with 2–3 days of cardio thrown in. Eat and sleep plenty, so that you can recover.

Haha, public intoxication. Some countries are crazy... I was one of those people who would drink often in small amounts. So, 2-3 times a week, 1-3 drinks, beer or wine. Every now and then 4-5 drinks, at social events. Alcohol is a drug, so one less thing to screw up my dopamine receptors (I am completely off social media and porn, too). I face reality more often. In social situations, if I am bored, I try to entertain myself or I leave. I don't just sit around drinking. It's had a positive impac…

I have a (crude) speadsheet with dates for the whole 2018 (essentially a calendar). For every day, I have a field with notes, and a few more cells tracking different habits (e.g., I stopped drinking any alcohol a few months ago, so one column is the number of days since I have last had a drink), as well as happiness. In the "happiness" cell, for every day, I put one of :)), :), :|, :(, :((, which is a grade of how happy I felt on that day. Every one of these smilies has a value, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2,…

Agreed with the others: get more protein. I am 6’1” at 210 lbs and eat 240-260 g protein every day. However, with that much carbs you should be putting mass on (fat or muscle). Either your TDEE is very high (if you train every day for 2 hours, for example), or it could be your hormones. I would do a blood test if I were you.

I would like to recommend Jeff Olson’s The Slight Edge on the compound effects of little choices and small steps in life. Here’s a quote from it: “The truth is, what you do matters. What you do today matters. What you do every day matters. Successful people just do the things that seem to make no difference in the act of doing them and they do them over and over and over until the compound effect kicks in.” There’s also a nice video review of the book: https://youtu.be/bi7yB7wH3to

So, you can cut (eat at deficit) without deloading? That’s what you’re saying, mate, and it’s not right.
/r/askTRP09/03/18 06:38 AM

If you’re just starting, then keep doing strength until you’ve got your form right. You also need to get some experience with accessories. If your goal is to get bigger, then you need more than 3 days per week, so I’d advise you to do 6-day PPL or nSuns (5- or 6-day).
/r/askTRP09/03/18 06:21 AM

That does not sound right! Lifting on a deficit usually has a negative impact on performance.

/r/askTRP25/02/18 06:34 AM

PPL is good. I’d recommend alternating strength/hypertrophy variations (low rep heavy weights vs higher rep lower weight). If you’re deadlifting on leg and pull days, then it makes sense to put the push day in between, so legs/push/pull/rest/repeat.

Great recommendations! Read them all. However, don’t forget to read fiction (classics), too. Reading only self-help/philosophy/psychology books may lead to a self-improvement obsession and can be addictive, in my opinion.

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. -- Bertrand Russell But what is wasted time? If you spend a few hours watching TV (a day/week/month/etc.), and you're happy that you do, then the time is not wasted. Whether you could have spent that time better is a different question. However, if you are watching TV while you know you should be doing other things, and then you're feeling bad because of it, then it's wasted time, and you know it. Furthermore, some people tend to rationalize their T…

Hemingway: The Old Man and the Sea is marvelleous little book. A Farewell to Arms is great, too. Jack London: pretty much everything. Mark Twain: everything. Love that guy. Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince can teach you more about life than any other book. Should be re-read every year ;) Tolstoy's War and Piece. James Clavell's Asian Saga, esp. Shogun and King Rat. Most people have suggested solid self-improvement books and Stoicism. By all means, do read that. Adopting Stoic philosophy is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. However, you should also read fiction (classics). That will help spark your imagination, and will enrich you in a different way than the self-improvement literature.

This. If you’re into a sport that much, go out and practice it (and get social with others while doing it). Hell, watch the games with friends; one of the best ways to socialize. Spending 5–10 precious hours every week watching is wasted time in my opinion.

Mate, you’re rationalizing. The whole “porn addiction” thing is a hard pill to swallow, almost the same as TRP. Read the NoFap sidebar, read the yourbrainonporn site. Everybody is different, some people have premature ejaculation, some don’t cum at all, etc. If you want to help yourself, read.
/r/askTRP11/01/18 09:22 AM

How old are you? Do you watch porn? If you are not old (whatever that means, younger that, say, 50), and watch porn regularly, then you have a porn-induced erectile dysfunction and delayed ejaculation. These are common among (young) men because porn usage is extremely high. Best thing is both are curable, check /r/NoFap and yourbrainonporn.com. I warn you: this is going to be a tough battle. But hey, you’re on TRP, so... Good luck!

Do you watch porn? What you’re describing are typical symptoms of porn addiction. Check out the /r/NoFap subreddit. It goes really well with TRP ;)
