Also…if there is one debbie downer in the friend is constantly interfering / cock blocking interactions where that her (better-looking) girlfriends are legitimately enjoying / reciprocating…she’s gonna get dropped from the friend group pretty quickly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

But are men who are 8+ in looks really hooking up with 3/4 women with any sort of regularity? When they already can get a 7+ woman for an LTR and 5/6 women for situationships? There are only so many hours in the day after all…

So leaving a man with obvious anger issues is giving up too easily? But If she stayed with him and the abuse escalated (as it generally does) you all would have said she ignored red flags and should’ve vetted better.

True, but I feel like it’s different when the athlete in question is literally the GOAT. Like for example, swimming isn’t that popular, but Michael Phelps was still a household name. Simone Biles is to gymnastics what Michael Phelps was to swimming.

I don’t find this video hard to believe at all, tbh. If you take 100 couples where both mom and dad work full-time, I would bet my life savings that virtually every working mom is going to know the following about her child(ren): -Birthdate. -Current grade in school. -Names of all their teachers / the principal / bus driver. -Names of their children’s closest friends. -Which subjects their child excels at, which subjects their child struggles in. -What their child wants for their next birthday o…

How is that “protecting her from getting hurt?” By “keeping her around” for sex (because you’ve lied about wanting a relationship) isn’t she wasting her time with you if she wants a relationship with someone?

Not only were the men happier, but the women didn't have to work. Obviously, that's pretty lit. Women could just focus on domestic tasks and taking care of children, which is also good. It’s good for women who want to be SAHMs. Not so good for women who don’t have that desire. Also, 1950s housewife archetype mostly applied to middle or upper class women. Lower class women always had to work. Women were happier in that environment than they are now slaving away for some CEO's bottom line. It’s no…

But your argument is that today’s female selectivity is inflated due to access to better guys on apps. How do you know that the more equal pairing in the 1950s wasn’t because women’s ability to choose was artificially constrained? When women needed a man to survive financially / socially, were they really “free” to pick?

Are you an average women in looks? If you are, then you should find your looks match, an average man, as attractive or there is something wrong. Why “should” they? In nature we see that females are inherently more selective than males, probably due to their larger reproductive burden. Why would humans be different? Maybe the “natural” match for a male 7 is a female 5?

Idk. Doesn’t the data show that Gen Z women are having less sex / fewer sexual partners than previous generations? I’m an Elder millennial / Xennial, who spent high school and college years engaging in a fair amount of partying…lots of drinking and some recreational drug use…and I still ended up with a single digit body count.

*thats not a contradiction. Firstly no matter how easy it is for chad to get sex he still has to do stuff to get it which is harder than doing nothing which is what women have to do. * Maybe Chad was just born tall with a handsome face? According to guys on here, he can hop on the apps and have a hookup pretty easily, especially if he’s willing to go down in looks from the women he would actually date. And secondly getting sex is hard for most men, most men are not chad. The existence of inherit…

I think one of the biggest problems manosphere thinking is the lack of nuance. Like yeah, if a woman had 100 bodies / lots of ONS in her youth, and now she wants to retire from that life and picks out a nice stable guy…but he has to court her for 6 months and bring her jonquils and sit on the porch and maybe get to hold her hand…I could see how the guy would (rightfully) doubt her attraction to him. But most women have limited experience with hookups / FWBs. It only takes a few times to realize …
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/24 06:01 PM

Also: 1.) The reason high body count is admired in men and denigrated in women is because it’s easy for women to get sex, but a man has to work hard for it. 2.) Chad can hop on tinder and get average Becky to come over for a hookup on a Tuesday just by texting “WYD” at 10:00PM. Now Becky thinks she “deserves” a Chad, but he only hit her up because it was easy / low effort.

Except men do go through the same process of maturing and having life goals and priorities shift, so why are they shocked that women do too? I don’t know a single man who was itching to be a husband and father in his early to mid 20s. At that age they are looking for FWBs / hookups…mayyybe a steady girlfriend if she isn’t too clingy and doesn’t expect too much. The majority of young guys certainly aren’t thinking about marriage and babies at that age. Why are men so insulted if women aren’t eith…

I think the difference is, people recognize that there are dirty / dangerous jobs that society needs to have done and someone has to do it. Most people don’t want to do it and don’t want their loved ones to do it because of the risks…but they have gratitude and respect for the ones who do. Hence the whole “thank you for your service” to veterans, and calling blue collar / essential workers the backbone of society, etc. So if the minority of women in society who do porn / OF / prostitution are se…

I agree and I think one of the most noticeable examples is how guys (at least guys on here) say if a woman is not fat and her face is at least average / not ugly, they will find her reasonably attractive (attractive enough for sex at the very least.) So not fat / not facially hideous guys tend to think they should be equally attractive to most women and get frustrated when they aren’t. They don’t realize that a healthy BMI man who is not hideous still might have zero sex appeal to most women, de…

She only gets the house if she buys him out / pays him 50% of the equity, or he gets compensated with another asset worth the same. As for child support - it depends. Most states have an online calculator which factors in the father’s income and the mother’s income. And then that figure is often further adjusted depending on what percentage of physical custody each parent has. In my experience, most dads love honestly don’t want equal physical custody. Sure, they’d prefer not to have to pay chil…

Some red pillers have even said that a woman dating a man who is taller than her is enough to be hypergamous. I’ve seen this too and it cracks me up - “women want men who are taller / stronger than they are, so hypergamy!” Like sir, those are just basic secondary sex characteristics. Just like men want a woman with bigger tits and wider hips than they have. Different, not “better.”

Last but not least, I'm not proud of this. I recognize the damage I was doing and did a full 180. I’m not trying to pile on you, but this is utterly fascinating to me. I have my flaws and I don’t think I’m an angel by any means, but I could literally not be intentionally cruel like you were. I wonder this as well. As a young girl (like middle school young) I quickly figured out that the cute boy I was crushing on was inevitably interested in one of the prettiest girls, not me with my buck teeth and glasses. Attractive boys and girls were popular, and they paired off together. This starts at very young ages.

100% agree on everything you said. Fertility statistics are not the sole thing women should consider when starting a family, there are pros and cons to having a family early vs. late. I’m not saying this is OPs reason, but many times this topic comes up, I sort of feel like it’s a thinly-veiled argument to try to get women to marry / have children with men 10+ years older. Most women are attracted to men within a few years of their own age, but most men in their early to mid 20s are not interest…

I’m not disputing that statistically speaking, it is easier to get pregnant / carry to term in your 20s vs 30s. What I am disputing is the fertility loss is nowhere as steep as you claimed (especially for early and mid-30s) …and I’d also dispute the idea that the likelihood of a “successful pregnancy” is the only factor that women should take into consideration when deciding if/when to have children. If someone wants and feels ready to have children in their 20s, with the idea that they will foc…

Ok and what am I supposed to do about that? There's 100+ replies. Being off by some percent doesn't even invalidate the core point, it's just a boring red herring to me. I mean…it’s not a red herring to point out that one of the assertions in your OP is completely wrong. It sort of does invalidate the “core point” if you resort to inaccurate scare-mongering to make your argument. I’ve seen this repeated a lot on here, and I don’t know where this assumption comes from. In literally every couple I know where both spouses work, both spouses put their paychecks on the communal pot (minus agreed upon individual spending money to pay the household bills.) Even if the man is the primary breadwinner making 75k, and the wife makes 50k, that 50k is still a substantial percentage of the household income. All you have to do is google average age of Hollywood leading male: 43 Ehhh I feel like that has more to do with the fact that most actors capable of being cast as leading men have been in the biz / been household names for 10+ years. Hollywood producers want to cast a sure bet with the most billing power. Not proof that they are at their most handsome at that age. Or in the same vein, the states of man-hating and woman-hating: The worst woman-hater's paradise is a world where women are present and slaves and being abused and raped. The worst man-hater's paradise is one where there aren't men. They aren't suffering. They aren't in pain. They just aren't there. It paints an interesting picture about the mentality what it actually means to hate men or to hate women. I think you are spot-on with this, and it reminds me of something else I’ve observed here. 100% agree. I earn more than my husband and it would never in a million years occur to me that he has to do more housework than me to earn his keep. In fact, although housekeeping chores are split pretty evenly, I do more childcare and cooking…because my job is mostly remote and I’m able to. When women genuinely have 100% control over their fertility, then and only then will I agree that men can have 0% responsibility for theirs. It could also be argued that in a hypothetical world where financial abortions exist and men have 0% default responsibility toward any resulting offspring, they should also have 0% rights to any offspring by default. Meaning, the woman has 100% unilateral custody by default. She can offer the man shared custody or visitation - and he can of course decline -…

The crucial difference is that your hypothetical situations, the woman is taking a deliberate, conscious action to make a baby (putting saliva in the baby making machine, fishing a used condom out of the trash and inseminating herself.) But fertilization itself occurs on a cellular level - a woman can’t “consent” to becoming pregnant, just like you can’t consent to appendicitis or a heart attack. If the right circumstances occur inside your body, it can happen. If an unintended pregnancy occurs …

We both work full time. We have a joint account in which my husband’s paycheck gets direct deposited - when he gets paid, I leave him an agreed upon amount of spending money and I transfer everything else into my “main” account (where my paycheck is deposited.) From there, I pay the mortgage, utility bills, groceries, childcare expenses, automatic deductions like streaming services etc. - pretty much all our household expenses. My great aunt (85) was talking recently about her 3 births and how hard they were and how they caused her vaginal pain and urinary issues for many years. She said in those days, no one really talked about the effects of it all - you were just expected to smile and be positive about it and not complain. My grandmother had much the same story and my aunts and mother chimed in too with their own stories of how uninformed they were about the realities and risks and the complications they had. Still,…

I think men don’t really understand how attraction works for women, and that’s part of the “looksmatch” issue. Guys on here say that if a woman is reasonably young, not fat, and not truly hideous in the face or anything, they’ll probably find her at least somewhat attractive. So guys then extrapolate that if they themselves are not fat and not truly ugly, they are (or should be) equally attractive to the average woman. But that’s just not how attraction works for women, generally speaking. This …

Perhaps, but I’m guessing that the desire to be a mother is more cultural / environmental than truly instinctual. I think humans instinctually find babies “cute” and have an innate desire to protect them - not just human babies, but other mammals as well. There is something about that ratio of large head to body & large eyes proportional to face that makes us go “awww.”
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/24 07:59 PM

Women developed some desire for sex, of which children were an inevitable consequence. And women also developed some instincts for drawing them to babies that had been conceived. But how much instinctive direct desire for having kids evolved? I’m not sure any animal except humans have evolved a conscious desire for offspring. In the animal kingdom, typically the male wants to mate any chance he gets, and the female wants to mate when she’s in heat. Neither the male or female are thinking, “I can…

In my observation, the majority of young women aren’t deliberately wasting their 20s with hardcore partying / hookup culture. They are done with that life by 22/23, if they partook of it at all. Usually they have 1-2 LTRs that last 1-3 years each or so, before finding the person they eventually marry and have their first baby around 30.

It doesn’t sound like OP is advocating any sort of laws / policies that would prevent certain men from reproducing. It sounds to me like OP is saying that some men just don’t make the cut, and that it isn’t a problem that needs to be solved. Edited to add - I don’t personally agree with OP’s list of what makes a male “fit” to reproduce.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 10:05 PM
2

I understand that, but for most history women were not free to choose their partners based on their attraction. What I’m saying is, why do you believe a woman who is a “5” should automatically be attracted to a man who is also a “5.” Why shouldn’t females be inherently more selective due to their larger reproductive burden?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/09/23 11:36 PM
2

It is, not because the average woman cannot be attracted to the average man, but because she thinks she deserves better just for existing. In most species, isn’t the female more selective / pickier on who she’ll mate with than the males? Why would it be different for humans?

No one is saying that physical attraction isn’t part of the spark. It’s physical attraction + rapport. It’s not that we get the spark with guys we find unattractive - it’s that there are objectively handsome guys that we don’t get the spark with.

Ehhh….historically, men were never held to the same standard of monogamy / chastity as women were. A wife’s reputation and status in society was ruined if she was caught cheating. Whereas if the husband cheated, the wife was advised to forgive and/or turn a blind eye for the good of the family.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 11:16 PM

But what probably happened is the husband stopped the “old methods” of turning his wife on. Men complain about the sex drying up, but often times they also stop “courting” their wives. And that emotional connection (flirty texts throughout the day, thoughtful gestures, quality time, etc) is what many women need to feel sexy. So what came first, the chicken or the egg?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/08/23 02:38 AM

Nothing about his behavior sounded “loving.” Someone wanting to fuck you doesn’t mean they love you or are acting in a loving way toward you. Men remind us here every day that sex does not equal love or even affection to them.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 09:55 PM

Because they have options, but not enough options to have leverage. I’m not sure what you mean by this. Both sides do this. True, and it’s just as unethical when women do it. ”Loving" is not a synonym for using. Do you think the only women who get cheated on are the ones who are using their partners / don’t truly love them? You don’t think kind, loving women who are overall good wives and mothers get cheated on as well? And like what? Rarely ever getting to see their children and losing a bunch …

Instead of focusing all their energy on finding a man to marry at as young an age as possible and spend her whole life as a wife and mother? Why in the world would women want that? Men don't want it either, men have been "sowing their wild oats" while young then marrying a bit later for a very long time. Exactly this. And if all you had to do was ask for permission, then men would do it. Men have needs just like women, and you can't just turn that off. So if the only men who are able to cheat are men who have options to begin with - why are these men choosing to enter into a committed relationship? No one is forcing them to. When you ask women to rate men only based on physical appearance, most guys are just "meh" to most women. So when you have a survey that demands a binary answer to a binary question such as, "Do you find this man [immediately] attractive?", average looking men are going to get a lot of no's. And "no" does not necessarily mean ugly. Agree with all of this…but also, as a woman I can tell when a guy is conventionally handsome and understand why other women would want him - and still feel nothing. N…

Same here - grew up in large extended Catholic family in the Midwest. They were republicans / conservatives, but none of the women were submissive, it was very much a matriarchy. As a result I can’t even relate to the idea of being a submissive woman. This may not be true in other countries, but in America, it seems like most Catholic families have strong women who run the show. I think it’s the evangelicals / fundamentalists who tend to value female submission.

The kind of people who seek unconditional love tend to be Cluster-B types: they know that their actions are sometimes utterly intolerable and so seek out some fool they can manipulate into accepting their abuse. He is risking her health for one. Even if he uses a condom every time and uses it perfectly (and let’s be real, most people don’t) he could still catch herpes or HPV and pass it to his wife. If the wife agrees to a one-way open relationship, than she is consenting to this risk. But if he has promised her sexual exclusivity and then cheats behind her back, she cannot give informed consent.

It’s weird that you think being faithful to a wife who has demonstrated her love and loyalty before you made it in life (and who you vowed to be faithful to) is akin to “punishment.” But, if a man truly feels he missing out, he should leave her, rather than resent a good and loyal woman. Let her find happiness elsewhere.

This should be the new goal for modern men, obtaining relationships that are open (but only for the man.) Honestly, I would respect this a hell of a lot more than cheating behind her back. Just be upfront about it and find a woman who feels you bring enough value to her life otherwise, if this is something you really want. You might not have a huge pool of women willing to agree to this type of arrangement, but there are some who will.

Perfectly put. Also, if being meek, submissive, and agreeable was a “natural” state of femininity, then why have patriarchal societies always needed to create laws that restrict women’s actions? If it’s so natural for women to act this way anyway?

Creating a breed with the strength of a bulldog (the original bulldogs, not the asthmatic things we have now) + the prey drive of a terrier was a terrible idea. Ehhh….while I agree that boys seem to struggle in school more than girls, and therefore should be given more support / early intervention to help them succeed….I disagree that it’s because school caters to the feminine style of learning. If anything, schools were more rigid in the past, when boys and girls were taught separately. Little boys were very much expected to sit still / sit straight or they would get their ears boxed.

The issue boils down to the fact that there are competing rights / interests, so to speak. 1) The right for a woman to have complete autonomy over her own body. 2) The right for a born child to receive financial support from his/her parents. 3) The right for a man to not have to financially support any offspring he didn’t agree to support. Right now in western society we recognize #1 and #2 but not #3. (Or I guess you could say society mostly agrees that #1 and #2 should always trump #3 when it …

What does accountability mean to you? If, hypothetically, paper abortions were a thing, what form of accountability would the man ever face when it comes to unplanned pregnancies? He would be neither physically accountable (as women always are / can’t escape) nor would he be financially responsible. (For the record, I’ve come around to the idea of men being able to opt out of parental obligation prior to an unplanned pregnancy, so long as society would be okay with picking up the tab in the form…

or you accept that consent to sex does NOT imply consent to parental duties, but then that goes for both sides (i.e. you agree to paper abortion) Otherwise (as is) your rant is just hypocritical "accountability for thee but not for me" hogwash which just makes the point of those who criticize your lack of accountability. If a woman becomes pregnant, she always faces a real, physical consequence. Always. She either has an abortion, gives birth, or has a miscarriage. 100% of the time there is a co…

One of the other times this topic came up, I came around to accepting an idea another poster proposed. Men should be able to opt out PRIOR to pregnancy. A man could sign an opt out form, specific to each to partner, that is good indefinitely (unless he decides to revoke it, it is presumed that the opt out is still in effect.) This way, the man’s cards are on the table before the pregnancy is even an issue. There can be no misunderstandings. However, in order for me to personally be on board with…

I’m not arguing that men who were assaulted or stealthed should go fuck themselves. I’m acknowledging that this sort of thing would be difficult to prove - same way that rape is difficult to prove because it’s often a he said, she said situation. This is a problem that already exists for sexual assault victims, both male and female. Do you think that the assumption of every unplanned pregnancy should be that the woman stole the man’s sperm without his consent? What exactly are you proposing / ar…

Woman shouldn't be forced to have babies they don't want, men shouldn't be forced to have babies they don't want. Equality. There can never be 100% equality when it comes to reproduction because the male and female roles in reproduction are not equal. The issue of bodily autonomy in regards to pregnancy only affects women. It’s not simply “women shouldn’t be forced to have babies they don’t want” (agreed)….it’s also “women shouldn’t be forced to have abortions they don’t want.” Being forced to h…

What I find interesting from red pillers is that they will bend over backwards to explain why it's totally normal for men in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and older to want to date 18 year old women, even invoking evolution, but it always stops exactly at 18. All these men writing long winded diatribes about how they'll still want to date young women down to 18 year olds when they're 50 claim their attraction stops 100% of the time at the age of majority and goes no lower. What a staggering coincidence, …

We've already decided that 18 years old is the age of adulthood. We therefore need to let adult people make adult decisions for themselves and not legislate rules against them because they are "not adult enough". Most reasonable people aren’t advocating for making age gap relationships (18+) illegal. We’re just saying that they deserve more scrutiny / skepticism. And it’s not like I would randomly assert myself in the age gap relationships of strangers. I would be concerned if it was my son/daug…

Men here seem to think all it takes to date a thin woman is to also be thin, it’s wild to me how they expect female attraction to work the exact same as men. I think this misunderstanding about female sexuality is a huge reason for men’s frustration. So men who are healthy weight and not “ugly” don’t understand why they …

Agree with both of these comments. Which is why it’s strange to me that some of the more angry male posters on here will say stuff about how if men can’t get relationships / families, they will stop being truck drivers, electricians, plumbers etc. and the world will suffer. I can get along with anyone in the workplace, but in my experience men (usually) make better bosses. One thing I’ve noticed on this sub: men (generally) refuse to change their behaviors in any way in order to bring about the changes in gender dynamics they are looking for. Men on here say it’s unfair that they have to be the one to initiate dates, to pay for first dates, and that they always feel pressure to appear masculine, confident, capable etc. That they feel they can’t ever be vulnerable with a woman, because she might get the “ick” and she has a string of orbiters waiting to take his pla…

Schools and colleges don't teach boys and men to "be their own woman" (i.e. do their own household management, know how to buy and take care of clothes, cook food, schedule house cleaning activities, learn how to raise and take care of a child by yourself). The reason men find this unfair is that it is very unlikely they will ever be able to recoup the loss of wealth through their future income. The lower-earning partner has "won" the divorce by being better off in terms of wealth than she otherwise would have been, while being no worse off in income than she would have been if she had not married in the first place. This is exactly how it works in my marriage too. I make a bit more money, but I work from home 3 days a week. So I’m able to prep dinner / do a couple loads of laundry / run the dishwasher etc. during the day. Why is any of that a bad thing, if they're reciprocal? That's what compromise and cooperation is. Do you expect the man to be submissive and to just let her do whatever she wants, whenever she wants? Men typically being taller than women is a secondary sex characteristic that most women find attractive. It’s not any more hypocritical than men finding full breasts and wide hips attractive, even though they have flat chests and narrow hips. Do you think there's some magical spell that occurs that creates a completely brand new person between the age of 17 years, 365 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes vs 18 years old? Either they think something magical happens when the clock strikes midnight on the 18th birthday to change a girl into a woman…or they know that nothing magical happens, and they would pursue sex / relationships with girls younger than 18 if there wasn’t a legal consequence. Some of them do, sure. But why get married at all? If the narrative is that most guys who get married do so not because they want to, but because they don’t have the option of reasily available casual sex…then why do the guys who do have abundance even bother with marriage? Yet we see most of them choose to get married regardless. There are very few Leos. Why did Chris Hemsworth get married? George Clooney? Etc. Not every man is husband / father material and that’s perfectly okay. What about guys who have abundance? Guys who have abundant options should only get married if, after introspection and soul-searching, they decide that marriage and family will give them more happiness / purpose than the life of an eternal bachelor. There are …

Lol, I love reading these types of threads on Reddit. Usually the guy wants an open relationship because there’s a particular girl he’s interested in. And then that quickly fizzles out (or never even goes anywhere.) Meanwhile the wife has more suitors than she knows what to do with.

If you don’t lie or deliberately mislead someone about your intentions, I don’t think you are being unethical. I don’t think you are a bad person. But if you take it a step further and avoid casual sex / FWB situations if you know someone has feelings that you don’t reciprocate - I would consider you a good person.

I’d agree with this. If one party says “I’m not interested in a serious / committed relationship but I’d be down for casual / hooking up” and the other party agrees but secretly thinks “Once he/she gets to know me, I can make them fall for me”….the party who wants a relationship has not been misled or manipulated. They will probably end up getting hurt but it’s not the other party’s fault. I’ll go further and say it would be kind and considerate not to enter into a causal sexual relationship wit…

I will agree that men tend to “need” women on a personal / individual level more than in reverse. But on a societal / infrastructural level men are indispensable. It would be extremely difficult if not impossible to enjoy the comforts of modern life without men. On the other hand…posters saying that men could easily keep things running if women disappeared overnight are underestimating women’s contributions to society. Yeah maybe the lights would still be on and the toilets would still flush, bu…

I don’t know exactly. I guess I’m…moderately feminine? I enjoy the aesthetic of pretty dresses and makeup, although I don’t bother with them often and usually dress for comfort / makeup free. Interesting! It would be interesting to see the breakdown in the ages of the women (how many were teens vs. adult women doing the shaming.) I’m also wondering how much this may have changed since 2016.

Women slutshame as much, maybe more than men. But it's for different reasons. I think this is a lot less true now than it used to be. From what I’ve noticed on social media, millennials and Gen z typically only shame women who knowingly engage with taken / married men. Other than that the attitude tends to be more like “get it, girl!” or at the least “not my thing, but to each her own!” I’ve noticed an interesting trend regarding those thirst trap videos on TikTok. Yes, exactly this! If a man is willing to provide a comfortable lifestyle, they could potentially negotiate a one-way open relationship with certain women. They don’t want these women. They want a woman who loves them fiercely / jealously and then cheat behind her back.

But I guess the conversations about paternity testing have made me lose faith in your gender on average when it comes to empathising with the unique struggles of men. If my husband and asked me for a paternity test out of the blue (I’ve never cheated on him or any other man I was in a relationship with prior to him) it would be hurtful. I’ve heard this rationale repeated ad nauseam - that since it’s more difficult for men to have sex, promiscuous men shouldn’t be judged negatively the way promiscuous women are. 1) Something may be difficult or challenging, but that doesn’t automatically make it a noble pursuit. It would be difficult to be a successful serial killer and not ever get caught. It would be difficult for a married person to carry on long-term affairs without ever getting caught. This doesn’t mean either of these thin…

I definitely think guys over-rely on stereotypes. I found out later on that when my husband and I were first dating, he assumed I’d had maybe 1 or 2 partners before him (for reference I was in my late 20s when we met.) Why? Because I was introverted / quiet, I have no tattoos, no piercings (other than a single piercing in each ear), dress fairly modestly, tasteful makeup, normal hair color. This makes sense to me - of course you need to be attracted to your partner, but once someone meets your minimum threshold for attractiveness, it seems like personality / values / lifestyle etc. should then become more important than looks (when it comes to selecting for a LTR.) These men are utterly invisible to modern women, they don't earn enough money or travel in the right social circles to get their attention. Skilled blue collar guys (welders, electricians, plumbers, HVAC guys etc) typically have union jobs and earn pretty good money. Moreover they are usually capable and masculine in a way that is attractive to many women. Cool, then men get a unique choice because it's their bank accounts and future earnings that are uniquely burdened and endangered by pregnancy and for the next 18 years. This isn’t unique to men though. If the woman carries to term, both parties are responsible for financial support of the child. Child support is based on the earnings of both parents.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/23 06:22 PM

Nope, not even close to reasonable. Why does he get an easy opt back in, if the goal is “fairness”? He “aborted” the kid. It’s over, and he has no rights. Women can’t in-abort a kid. He should also not be allowed to ever contact the child as an adult, never ask the kid for support or any medical needs (blood or organ donations). All of those things are a reward incentivizing men to knock a woman up and run. I see your point…I guess I feel that opting out prior to conception occurring is differen…

This is brilliant and I’m 100% on board. 1) Man has to sign / notify woman of opt out agreement prior to sex / conception occurring. I’d even say it’s reasonable for the man to have an opportunity to “opt back in” after being notified of a pregnancy. (Not forever, maybe up until a few weeks after birth? Enough time that paternity can be definitely established?) 2) I’d add this too - we’d have to increase funding for social programs so that there are enough financial support for children born to …

You have assumed that the woman's pregnancy is unplanned because you want to paint a picture where the woman has as little agency as possible to maximize her victimhood. I don’t believe a woman who becomes pregnant after consensual sex is a victim in any way. She does, however, bear more consequences than the man. But you're avoiding scenarios where the woman gets pregnant on purpose and there are a LOT of those. An estimated 30% of children born in the United States were conceived without the m…

This analogy doesn’t really work. It would be more like, you and a woman both sign as co-borrowers on a mortgage (consent to sex.) Afterward, you find out something about the property that you didn’t know before purchasing it, and you wouldn’t have bought that house if you knew. (Unexpected pregnancy.) But then through some legal loophole, you are able to get your name of the title / note without refinancing, paying any fees, or losing your equity. You simply have to write a signed statement say…

Again: pregnancy and childbirth is a choice for women. If you think it's too risky, painful or expensive to have a child, then don't have one. If you choose to have a child, then you're also choosing to take on that risk, pain and cost. Ok, so in your proposal is there absolutely no negative consequence for men whatsoever? The man can sign a paper saying he opts out, but it’s not like the woman can sign a paper saying she doesn’t want to be pregnant anymore. She can’t avoid a consequence. Either…

If a woman gets pregnant under any circumstances but does not want to become a parent, then she can opt out by means of the morning-after pill, abortion pill, surgical abortion, or safe-haven abandonment. First of all - the morning after pill is considered contraception and doesn’t always work - there are lots of morning after pill babies running around. Safe haven laws aren’t gender-specific. The father can leave a newborn at a fire station, etc. as well. So again, once pregnancy has occurred, …

You’re calling this “men’s reproductive rights” but that’s a misnomer. If a man can legally opt-out of parental responsibility prior to birth and the woman chooses to carry to term, the man has still reproduced. The man’s reproductive rights end with his part of the reproductive act, which is insemination. So what you are proposing as “reproductive rights” is really a consequence-free way for men to walk away from their choices. Whereas a woman may have more reproductive options, but she also ha…

Yup. Eleanor of Aquitaine had her last child around age 44, back in the 1100s. Before birth control, women generally had pregnancies and children until they couldn’t get pregnant anymore. And since individual fertility varies widely, you’d see women who had either 0-2 kids or like 8+.

I am not denying accountability. Men are accountable from their actions. I am saying that you are asserting a connection between a feeling and a set of actions without providing evidence or an argument to back that statement. I make more than my husband, although I got laid off this summer for the first time ever and had to take a job that paid significantly less than I was previously making. Well yes, the problem is that the average women has considerably more opportunity than the average man when it comes to experimenting in their youth. So the system that you're describing heavily favors women. This “system” exists only because men are largely indiscriminate about who they have sex with, and women aren’t. Men could collectively change this “system” if they wanted to. The middle aged man will cheat if he feels like he's entitled to do so. And he’ll probably eventually get caught, g…

That said, in my observation, it is not the welders, oil riggers, miners, police officers, fire fighters, soldiers, trash men, contractors, construction workers, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, union workers, delivery drivers, factory workers, truck drivers, farmers, etc. who lack for female romantic attention. In fact most of these men have fun with their friends at the pubs and have gfs, wives, baby mamas, hookups, etc. This has been my observation as well. First responders and skilled blue…

Also, women having babies in their 30s was never rare / abnormal. Hell, Eleanor of Aquitaine had her last child around age 44, and that was in the 1100s. The only thing that is different now is that more women are having their first child around age 30 instead of their 4th - 6th child.

This is a bit different. Until the 60s/70s, men literally had their thumbs on the scale when it came to educational / employment opportunities for women. Women aren’t succeeding today at the expense of men, men are dropping out / choosing not to participate, probably for multifaceted reasons. That being said, I fully support programs or incentives to increase men’s rates of enrollment in higher education / skilled trades. I think programs that specifically help boys succeed should probably start…

If men want to talk about either doing away with the draft or making both men and women register - this is reasonable. If men want to talk about raising pay / benefits for essential workers who keep society running smoothly - this is reasonable. Some even pretend being a corporate cog in a machine is an enjoyable thing and call themselves “career women.” Meh. Most women (like men) don’t have careers they love. They have jobs they tolerate. But it’s preferable to being an adult who is financially dependent on someone else.

Men who think this way don’t view sex as a mutually enjoyable activity. So it doesn’t matter to them if she didn’t enjoy something in the past - what matters to them is that she “allowed” another man to do it to her. So therefore she must allow him to do it to her as well - to prove the guy from her past is not the better / more alpha male or some shit. Used, no. Exhausted, yes sometimes. But the parent / child relationship is fundamentally different for a lot of reasons, not least of which is that the goal of the parent is to guide the child into becoming a fully-functional, independent adult who no longer “needs” then one day. So the leader / follower dynamic is by nature temporary. And yes, I realize that adults may still ask their parents for guidance / advice if they have a good relationship and trust the parent’s judgment. But the adult i…

Wanting or not wanting children is a relationship dealbreaker though. A good pencil sharpener eventually gets dull with use, but it is useful a lot longer than an individual pencil. But “blind as a bat” is only focusing on eyesight of bat vs. eyesight of person with bad vision. Not comparing bats to humans overall. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect to expect the wife / mother to keep a spotless house and dinner on the table every night when she has a baby that she’s getting up multiple times a night to nurse, plus a toddler and a school-aged child she has to cart to sc…

My husband isn’t the head of our household (I generally make more household decisions but I consider us equal.) And my Dad wasn’t even the head of my household growing up. My mom was definitely in charge, and my parents were baby boomer conservative Catholics. Women are quite frequently the head of the household (in western society at least.)

This is pretty much the same dynamic in my marriage as well. My husband and I tend to defer to whoever has more knowledge / expertise in the subject at hand. I find (some) men’s obsession with submissiveness on this sub very bizarre. Like - I’m an elder milllenial / xennial and my parents were baby boomers, yet my mom was in no way submissive to my dad. Come to think of it my grandma wasn’t really submissive to my grandpa either. This just wasn’t a thing.

If culture had standards and sleeping around would be seen as something bad, for both men and women, and we would have a proper social stigma, all the pill would disappear. Perhaps, but even in the good ol’ days, promiscuity and/or infidelity was much more tolerated in men. “Sowing your wild oats” was expected of young men prior to settling down. And after marriage, a good wife was supposed to look the other way / forgive infidelity for the sake of not breaking up the family. Maybe the wayward h…

This is true in my household and most of my married friends. Both parents work full-time (although it’s common for Dad to work longer hours / less flexible hours) and Mom does at least 75% of household and childcare tasks. 50/50 would be an absolute dream to me.

As I mentioned in the OP, mutual commitment can be a win-win. The problem is when two people try to exchange sex for commitment and commitment for sex. I think it’s more like - I will give you sex and commitment if you give me sex and commitment back. For some people it’s a package deal. But again, I don’t see how it’s manipulative if the person wanting to secure commitment is upfront about their needs / wants / boundaries. If they lie about their intentions that would be a different story. Or w…

Exclusivity is not commitment. It is simply being monogamous for the period the relationship lasts. Ok…but if I’m understanding your argument, a woman is being manipulative if she requires exclusivity or commitment (as you define them) in return for a sexual relationship. Is that right? You are arguing that people who are attracted / interested in each other should have sex for sex’s sake alone, and if it develops into a deeper relationship or commitment, great. If not, that’s fine too. And a wo…

I am not talking about withholding something you don't enjoy: I am talking about people who want to have sex, but choose not to, to leverage their sexuality into a personal benefit. But it’s possible to want something and also know it’s not good or healthy for you long term. If a woman knows herself well enough to realize that a sexual relationship without a commitment / exclusivity ultimately leaves her feeling bad, she’s not “leveraging her sexuality” by declining to have sex with a fuckboy sh…

*Of course a pedophile exercises their autonomy if they pursue children. It's a preference they have and they go for it. More concretely, a world where pedophiles and teenagers can get together would be a world with more sexual freedom than our current world. However you'd agree that it would not be a better world. I don't understand the mental leap from "a child cannot consent" to "therefore, a pedophile doesn't exercise authority by pursuing children." The point isn't that women not dating los…

The US had anti-miscegenation laws that were vigorously enforced a couple generations ago. Which were immoral and rightfully revoked. Ethically speaking there's nothing special about the individual autonomy of a traditional cishet person versus the autonomy of a pedophile, we just believe as a society that the exercise of the pedophile's autonomy causes too much collateral damage. So there's a balancing of the benefits and costs of full autonomy. I don’t understand what you mean here. A pedophil…

I was comparing two specific hypothetical outcomes: 1) some men being unhappy / lonely, but women maintaining full autonomy vs. 2) most men being able to get a partner / wife because women lost some rights (financial, legal, etc) to incentivize them to accept men they otherwise wouldn’t. I do think it’s crazy that this is up for debate here. I’m not a libertarian and I do believe there need to be limits on individual freedom for the health and safety of all. I wouldn’t go so far as to say delusional standards should be encouraged. But I do think each person on an individual level should do some introspection about what they truly want out of life and if/how a partner plays a role in that. For example, I knew from a young age I wanted to be a mother. I met my now-husband in my late 20s. In many ways he ticked off a lot of the boxes of what I was looking for in a partner. However, he had been married before and already had children. This wasn’t my ide…

Women are free now, and this is part of what that liberty entails." It’s kind of wild to me that in a modern / enlightened society this is even up for debate…? I don’t see an issue in the sense that whoever posted that comment seems to be okay with the possibility (or even likelihood) that she won’t get the man she wants. If she understands this and makes the deliberate choice to remain single rather than “settle” for someone who doesn’t meet her standards….I legitimately don’t see the issue. I don’t share her level standards and she may be delusional about what she can pull, but it’s not an issue that affects anyone else but her.

You can't actually force anyone. Your only recourse if she decides to just do it anyway is a path that leads to divorce....after her having become a sahm. True, but then you control your response to that. If your wife becoming a SAHM is a dealbreaker, and you initiate divorce, family court will generally impute her income if she is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed. So if she was a lawyer who quit her job, the judge is going to look at her last couple years’ W2s and use that in the child s…

I’ve said this before on here: there are actual steps a man can take to avoid being “divorce raped.” Such as: -Choosing a partner with similar income and not agreeing to let your spouse become a SAHM. -Purposefully seeking careers / employment opportunities that allow you to have roughly equal parenting time with your children while you are married. I agree with this. I think the fact that men have different libidos is why they think women “withhold” sex when they are upset with their partner. But it’s not like that. It’s not like “I really want to jump his bones right now, but I’m mad at him, so I have to teach him a lesson by withholding sex!” It’s more like, “I’m hurt and don’t feel connected to him right now, and sex is the last thing I want to do.”

Wanting to be "equal" is just a thing a woman says to boss you around, I find. Anytime you actually get into an argument, if you don't give way to her, you are being "domineering" and not treating her like an equal. Equal just means her needs, ideas and goals are not secondary to yours. And it's a competition thing to. If a man had an option between a woman that wants to be domineering, focus on her career and not him, and only wants pets and not children, OR, a foreign woman who wants a family …

There is a HUGE amount of growth and maturity that happens between 18 - 22/23. At that point, IDGAF really. What I find most disturbing is the guys who think there is nothing wrong with a 35 year old pursuing an 18 year old because “it’s legal.” Well, in some states the age of consent is 16. So do these g…

Also the “women peak at 22” type of guys also tend to be the “when men cheat, it’s not as bad as when women cheat because blah blah blah” guys. So it’s not far fetched at all to think that when their formerly young virginal wife starts to age, they will rationalize why it’s not that big of a deal that they cheat as long as they keep fulfilling their husband / father duties etc.

Having sex every day isn't practical for most people. Especially for women who can literally experience pain and rawness from the excessive friction. And the irritation from the friction can make you more susceptible to infections, etc. Frequent sex can throw your PH off too. I think men don’t understand how much maintenance goes into being a vagina owner.

Huh? I’m saying that on an individual basis, neither men nor women need to have a romantic relationship with the opposite sex. But of course on a larger scale men and women need each other for society to function.

When women say they don’t need men, they mean they don’t need to be married / be in a romantic relationship with a man to survive or have personal fulfillment. They don’t mean that men don’t contribute to society in any way, obviously they do.

It’s interesting to me because I would have the exact opposite takeaway. If a woman generally cheats because she’s unhappy with the relationship…that means there are at least clues / signs prior to cheating that the relationship is at risk. And in most cases she’s let her partner know for weeks / months / years that she is unhappy for x reason. (This doesn’t make it morally acceptable for her to cheat of course….just pointing out it usually doesn’t come out of left field.) Whereas a man can be o…

It’s been said by men time and again on this sub that an increase of sexless men will result in an increase in violence and a breakdown in the infrastructure (because if guys aren’t getting laid they aren’t going to repair bridges or do garbage collection or some shit.) Because lonely / depressed men stop giving a shit about other people and society in general. When women try to offer alternate solutions to combat male loneliness / feelings of desperation - things like therapy, joining volunteer…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/22 04:33 PM

How is it tone policing? Who said anything about feminine, flowery language? I object to the message itself - that women need to give men sex in order to subdue their violent tendencies - not to the manner in which the message was delivered.

It’s scary for the demographic that is likely to have said violence inflicted on them.

We do have a clue. That’s why liberal / feminist women are shouting to anyone who will listen that overturning Roe V Wade was just the first step. Next will be birth control. We definitely know how fragile / tenuous women’s rights are. That’s why it’s scary to us to see on this sub Reddit and other sites online how many men truly believe women should be back in the kitchen and staying home to raise babies, whether they want to or not. 1) I think some are genuinely lonely for actual companionship, sure. But a lot of sexless men are mostly wanting / missing the sex (and lots of guys on here have admitted as much - that casual sex is most highly valued, but committed relationships are a better way to secure sex on a regular basis for the average guy.) 2) The main issue I have is tying the male loneliness / sexlessness rates to an increase in violence and antisocial behavior. I’m not even saying it’s wrong or overly alarmist - it…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 02:54 PM

I think men would get a lot more collective sympathy and support from women if when they discussed the issues / struggles they face, they left out these two talking points: 1) Too many men aren’t getting their dicks wet. 2) When men can’t get their dicks wet, they tend to get violent / destructive. This just immediately shuts down empathy from women because it comes off as a threat: “you ladies better start fucking us or else!” I have empathy for men’s issues such as loneliness (not lack of sex)…

Well, since 80% of divorces are being initiated by women, I find that hard to believe. Since courts usually tend to side with the parent initiating the divorce. Courts primarily choose the mother, and fathers have to prove that they are the better parent in order to get custody. Again, courts don’t usually choose at all. The parents usually present their already agreed upon parenting plan. But in the case of a contested divorce, men are often at a disadvantage because their work schedule doesn’t…

In the USA at least, the vast majority of divorces (including the parental custody arrangement) is decided out of court / agreed on by both parents before the judge signs off on the decree. Studies show that when men do ask for 50/50 custody, they usually get it. So this whole notion of men getting screwed out of having custody of their kids isn’t reality. I agree there are benefits to monogamy, most importantly a stable environment for raising children. I think it just needs to be a free choice, not coerced by giving women little to no other means of survival. Now (in western countries at least) marriage / monogamy is a choice. And a lot of people still choose it, myself included. But some people pursue a poly lifestyle and some people choose to remain single, etc.

I don’t think it’s about “should.” OP is saying that less men would have been chosen by women in the past, had there not been social structures enforced that limited women’s ability to chose. She’s not saying the government should come in and decide who gets to reproduce and who doesn’t.

Right, but you’re an outlier. Don’t even the lowest paid physicians still make like 200k minimum? For most guys, either their wife will need to work or they will have to live a significantly downscaled / budgeted lifestyle to make the SAHM thing work. So it’s weird that so many guys on here say that a woman’s earning potential is irrelevant. Wait, I'm confused. What is the implied expectation after having sex for the first time in a serious and/or casual dating context (not ONS/FWB)? More dates? A relationship? In a dating context, if things have been going well otherwise and the first sexual experience was enjoyable by both parties, I’d say it’s a reasonable expectation the relationship will continue. I think the difference is, there is no implied expectation that a first date will lead to a second date. It’s specifically teenagers and very early 20s that is problematic. If it was pure jealousy, women would be up and arms about guys dating women with any significant age gap. I didn’t say ppl under 25 weren’t fit to choose a partner or make any sort of life decisions. Just that there is a power imbalance between someone with a fully mature brain and a decade or more of life experience and someone who’s brain is still maturing. A young person in their late teens / early 20s has drastically less life experience in general. They likely still rely on their parents for financial support. Plus, a person’s brain isn’t fully developed until 25-ish. They are likely to make more impulsive decisions without considering the long term consequences. All these things make them more susceptible to abuse or manipulation by a significantly older romantic partner.

Sure. But how is that disrespecting you? She made certain decisions regarding her body at one point in her life. She now makes different decisions. You are not obligated to date her if you disagree with her life choices. But they have nothing to do with being disrespectful to you.

Perhaps if both of these interactions are happening at the same time. But if she last had casual sex 4 years ago? Are people not supposed to grow / change?

How is it a double standard though? A double standard would be: it’s okay for men to have lots of sex partners, but not okay for women. An individual who learns from past decisions / interactions and adjusts their behavior accordingly has nothing to do with a double standard.

Right, but do you consider it disrespectful if a man doesn’t shower every woman he’s ever dated with the exact amount of attention, money, commitment etc? Let’s say you met a girl when you were 18, fell quickly in love, and got engaged after 2 months. Married by 6 months. Not surprisingly, the marriage ends in a messy divorce. Now you’re 25 and meet a woman you really like. From what you’ve seen so far, she’s everything you’re looking for in a future wife / mother of your children. However, your…

How is it disrespectful to him? It very likely has nothing to do with him. If she’s learned that casual sex is not enjoyable for her and/or makes her feel bad afterwards, her decision to take things slower is about protecting herself. It’s not a punishment to him, it’s about her.

This is honestly so bizarre to me. Guys on here who can’t handle the thought that their GF / wife might have “desired” another guy more than them. I feel like this doesn’t happen often in reality, as much as men on here are obsessed with the idea. Women who frequently have sex quickly / hookup casually are also likely to hook up quickly with someone they genuinely like. And women who generally take things slow will still most likely want to take things slow, even if she genuinely likes you. Exceptions exist, yes. But this whole narrative that the majority of women bang hot guys they just met in the alley behind the bar, but then make the g…

I was never one to go to clubs - not even in my youth - but when I meet up with friends (a few times a year) we generally go to a restaurant and/or a bar or two. Maybe a brewery. We go to have good food and some craft cocktails / beer. The idea of going out to get male attention has never been on my radar. It might happen occasionally that someone starts chatting us up. Then again, I’m rather average looking and not the type to get regular male attention. So it’s never really been on my radar.

I guess I disagree that the two examples are exact equivalents. I think a man can who is straightforward / truthful toward a woman he is willing to have a ONS or FWB situation (but not a committed relationship) with is the moral equivalent to a woman who has an OnlyFans account. The difference is, women expect fairness / honesty in the context of being in relationship with someone. i.e., a guy shouldn’t lie and tell a women wants a LTR with her just to get sex, etc. We women (accurately) describe that sort of intentional manipulation as immoral behavior. Men (at least a significant portion of male posters on here) seem to expect fairness from women prior to any relationship being established. There’s a difference between wanting a free ride and wanting a partner who makes a meaningful financial contribution. Not to mention it’s just practically important in many cases. If a guy is making less than 100k (or maybe high five figures in lower cost of living places) and he desires children, he’s probably going to need a wife who makes decent money. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ok, maybe I misread. So if you’re looking for a relationship, and having casual sex in the past is a dealbreaker for you….why not vet for that? Do you ask? If you ask upfront and the woman lies to you, and you find out later she lied about her sexual history, then I don’t see an issue with dumping her. But how is she supposed to know it’s a dealbreaker for a relationship with you unless you tell her that? It’s not a dealbreaker for everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/22 12:57 AM

But that’s not what you said. Previous poster said if you are looking for casual sex, just be upfront with women about it. And you said no, you were going to deliberately mislead women into thinking you wanted a relationship and then pump and dump.

*OP’s advice for men was that they should be more like women who cope better being single But that’s biologically impossible, men and women have different needs.* I’ll agree that men typically have a higher sex drive than women, but I disagree that men crave companionship more than women. This is one way that men can / shoul…

This can be seen in the “prison effect” whereby men are so deprived of sex their desperation drives them to fuck each other or ugly women. So going by this logic, the only way to get average women to be attracted to their “looks match” is to greatly reduce the supply of men willing to have sex with them, right? So your beef should be with Chad who can (and does) get Stacys with a little bit of effort, but also goes for easy pickings with Beckys. As well as average looking guys who are willing to…

100% this!!! My husband and I have two children. I would have loved to have a third, it just wasn’t financially feasible. Ok, here’s an alternate solution that doesn’t involve subjugating half the population. If the problem is that all women want Chad / most men aren’t attractive to women, then all the men who are struggling with getting sex should just selflessly / gracefully bow out of the dating market. Without threatening to disrupt society via violence or refusal to work, etc. Women can just have Chad’s babies, and because of his superior genetics, there will be less and less unattractive people being born. I can’t open the second article you linked, but the first and third article indicate that a protein found in seminal fluid may affect / induce ovulation in human females. And one small study indicates the presence of semen may be correlated to lower incidences of depression in women. But as far as actual major changes in female behavior - those studies were in fruit flies. There’s nothing to indicate that women’s behavior is controlled by remnants of semen from past sexual partners.

I’m a woman. And I get what you are saying about men’s simplicity - I’m just saying a lot of men seem to think it’s a flex (see, we’re not picky! It’s women who have insane standards!) when women don’t see it that way. Women want to be valued / seen as a three-dimensional person, not just for what tasks we can perform to make your life more comfortable. Just an observation.

The thing is, men say stuff like this as evidence that they aren’t overly picky. But women see it as evidence that we are largely interchangeable to you. You want us to be nice, attractive, have sex with you, and take care of you / domestic tasks. That’s not really a well-rounded personality. Not really. He’s just described himself as a Chad, looks-wise. According to guys on this sub, all women chase Chad. And they will excuse all sorts of bad behavior for a chance to be in his harem. So if he’s telling the truth about his looks, there must be something else off-putting about him, if 95% of women don’t want him. And if that’s true - than personally does matter to women and Chad can’t get away with murder, as is so often argued here.

But this is textbook abusive behavior. It almost always starts with little things / “requests” from the abuser that seem minor in nature. Exactly this. Most modern women desire egalitarian partnerships. But a lot of men don’t want this and aren’t willing to change. Which is fine, but they may struggle to find meaningful relationships.

“And if the advice of 'pull yourself up by the bootstraps' is absurd for a poor person is it not equally as absurd for an ugly and short man? I think many people reject this comparison not because it isn't accurate, but because they recognize that if the knee jerk solution in virtually every other aspect of life is to enforce equality through the state, why is this one, and only one, area of life of limits?” Because it’s not an apt comparison. It’s “off limits” to enforce equal access to women b…

But why should the husband have final say on all types of decisions? What my husband and I do (and what makes more sense, IMO) is we defer to the other person if it’s an issue on which they have more knowledge / experience. I work in the mortgage industry so I’m the one who has more input about when it’s a good time to refi (not right now lol!) and what loan terms to accept. I also do all the bill paying / budgeting so I generally have final say if we can afford a particular expenditure at a giv…

Bad analogy. Things like food, shelter, clean water etc. are resources needed for survival. WOMEN ARE NOT A RESOURCE TO BE CONSUMED. And both men and women in the first world have sexual freedom. You’re free to seek out sex / relationships you desire. I’m free to do the same.

It’s not oppression. There is no law or policy preventing you from finding a partner. You have to find someone willing to have sex with you, because women are not chattel. As to the shallow part, that’s arguable, but ultimately irrelevant. A woman (or man) can choose not to pursue sex / relationship with any given person for any reason or no reason at all. There should be no expectation of fairness when it comes to mate selection.

Men not getting dates or sex is not “oppression.” You’re really arguing that some men not getting sex is the moral equivalent to women having to live under Taliban rule? That both of these situations are equally unfair or oppressive? When we say that (some) men don’t see us as fully formed autonomous people - this is what we mean.

Don’t studies show that single women live longer and are happier? I’m not suggesting that there are no single women 30+ that are unhappy or wish to be paired up. Of course there are. But from my observation women (in general) are better at finding happiness / fulfillment in a variety of ways. Close friendships with other women, pets, travel, hobbies, etc. Women who wanted to be mothers but didn’t get the opportunity tend to develop close relationships with their nieces and nephews, etc. Millenni…

Really? Almost every post in this sub is men complaining about women’s “unreasonable” dating standards. I very rarely see posts from women as you’ve described. I see a lot of men threaten women with the the whole childless cat lady revenge fantasy, to which women usually respond….ok. Doesn’t sound too bad.

What happened when your ex-wife came back into the picture? Was she immediately given 50/50 custody or was there a step-up plan or…? If she was immediately awarded joint custody after being mostly AWOL for years, that is total bullshit!

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m married to man who is divorced and has children from his first marriage so I’m not unsympathetic to the struggles of divorced dads. On the flip side of mothers using child custody to try to get the most child support - a lot of dads also try to increase their custody time solely to avoid or reduce child support. I think there are two questions that should be asked when deciding the custody arrangement: 1.) Who has been the primary caretaker during the marriage? 2.) Ar…

Also, only a small percentage of divorces actually go to trial / are decided by a judge. The majority of the time the spouses negotiate the financial / child custody agreements on their own or via attorneys and the judge is just signing off on what they have already agreed on.

True. Not to mention women are almost always the one shopping for and buying all the kids / extended family Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, etc. If you look at my debit card transactions compared to my husband’s, it looks like I spend a lot more. But because I’m the household manager (like most wives) I run everything through my own debit / credit cards. We have a joint account that he gets his direct deposit into. I transfer over a portion to my own checking account (I leave the rest in the ac…

Giving the man the option of a “paper abortion” doesn’t make things equal. The woman can decide to get an abortion - a medical procedure that while generally safe / low risk is still an invasive medical procedure. It can be very painful, both physically and emotionally. The woman may have to take time off work and travel several hours away for the procedure. It can involve multiple appointments. She will likely have to miss several days of work. Depending on where she lives it may be costly. If …

I think it’s the wording of the question that is off putting. “What do you bring to the table” very much sounds like a job interview. A man can ask other questions to find out what a woman’s values / priorities are. Such as, what was your upbringing like? How close are you to your family? What did you get your degree in? What do you find challenging / rewarding about your job? Do you want kids someday? Etc.
