Well at the same time, we're still lucky not to have any major land carnivores. I think it was your comment that mentioned it first, but saltwater crocs are probably the worst but as long as you don't go near them you're safe. I've read plenty of stories about people camping in an area they thought was safe only to wake up to the sounds of a grizzly outside, fuuuuuckkkk that.

I suppose most of what you said is true, but if we go to the beach then 99% of the time it will be one that has been scoped out by lifeguards with safe areas marked to swim so it isn't really an issue (Or at least I've never considered it one). As for the spiders, they're great for eating bugs so we usually like to leave them. Folks who live near the bush have it much worse than those of us who live in the suburbs or in city areas though.

I always see people saying this, but nobody is talking about how in America you guys have fucking Grizzly bears and mountain lions which would happily tear you to shreds without a second thought if they find you in the wrong place at the wrong time. We might have a lot of venomous creatures over here, but the rule of thumb is that if you respect nature then nature will respect you. I'd much rather spend a night in the Australian bush than I would somewhere like the Alaskan wilderness.
