As a woman I believe men and women can do anything. I would have said a while ago that men can't get pregnant and women can't produce sperm. But trans men can get pregnant and trans women can make sperm. And even cis men can lactate. So I actually can't think of anything that women can do that men can't. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm sorry I didn't see your reply til now and I'm not sure why. Yeah I don't expect anyone to help any group they don't want to. I mean I know plenty of people who have zero interest in even helping the groups they themselves are a part of. Nor do I think men or women are better off as a whole. I think both have their own advantages and disadvantages and those have racial, sexual orientation, socioeconomic and geographical intersections. Anyway the main idea of your comment is the same as I was …

Perhaps a better description is "Christian family values", for that is the group that I see pushing most for traditional gender roles and has a lot of ideology that is full of misandry and misogyny. The biggest one being that these expectations of the genders is the natural order of things, and therefore, in their mind, morally superior and beyond debate. To be honest with you, I am unfamiliar with Bell Hooks and I am not formally or informally educated with feminism past what all/most girls are…

I have commented in their sub before, but I assure you I am not anti-sex at all, and I have made that clear when I comment in that group.

I didn't mean to trivialize what you were saying. I now understand you are talking broadly about social structure and not just relationship interpersonal dynamics. I 100% agree that it is society as a whole. But what you describe about men doing to men and women doing it to men and society doing it to men, is what many would actually call the patriarchy. I think patriarchy is offensive if you believe it means that all men are privileged, and you believe that it is only perpetuated by men. I view…

I think at the end of the day, all people, just want to be acknowledged, appreciated and validated for who they are and for what they sacrifice. I think the biggest issue we have with our current division between genders, races, and ideologies, is that we are all so hurt and struggling that we have stopped acknowledging everyone else's hurt and struggle. I see this problem all the time within relationships. Each person is hurt and too busy trying to be heard that the other person is dismissed an…

I think you are putting women in the same box you don't want women to put men into. Yes, many women want a stoic man who is emotionally unavailable. Many of those women, are also emotionally unstable. I know I was always attracted to the wrong men until I did the hard inner work to overcome my traumas and release my toxic behaviors. But I also know many women who have been there and done that and are now looking for men who are more open emotionally and who want to be a safe place for men to be …

Well adhering to traditional gender roles when you do not want to, is either for traditional sake, or it is being something you are not for a relationship. I think both happen. What idea is for YouTube more than reality?

I am sure being stoic always in a relationship is awful. Being something you are not for the sake of a relationship almost never ends in happiness, for anyone. There are men who want themselves and their partners to have traditional gender roles, and there are plenty of women who want the same. I am sure they can be happy together. I personally do not like traditional gender roles, and have found a man that is not stoic, one who is emotionally available, who can cry in front of me, we uplift and…

I do agree with you. I think many women have changed and moved past expecting men to just be stoic wallets, but of course many women haven't. I believe this is not just an issue about women, but about what aisle you are on about social and cultural expectations and change. The men who are looking for tradwives and the women who want to be tradwives, are both going to continue to reinforce those traditional gender roles and expectations. I would have said a decade ago, that those ideologies are d…

I'm a woman. I believe that when any group suffers, all of society suffers. So yes, men suffering is society suffering and as a society we need to band together and help. Sadly I do not have too many ideas on how to help on the larger scale then just being an empathetic and compassionate human being. The only other idea for specifically women, is to stop perpetuating toxic masculinity. I know that term isn't very welcomed here because it is seen to mean "being a man bad" but I argue that toxic m…

I'm a woman and I agree that either the draft should be abolished or should include all genders.

I'm a woman, and I don't speak for all women, but if curious this is my two cents. I do not think it is the responsibility of individual men to go out of their way to make women feel comfortable past the general responsibility all people have to act like decent humans when we are out and about in the world. I believe the bear vs man topic is very similar to the anti police/acab topic. We know it is not all men, just like we know it is not all cops. The BLM movement was really about accountabilit…

I'm a woman in New York, and when my husband threatened to go after me for alimony if I left him, when I spoke with my lawyer, I was told there was a definite possibility I would have to pay him alimony because I was the breadwinner and had supported him for over 2 years. Alimony being a concern only for men is usually in conservative traditional situations where the man is the breadwinner and the woman doesn't work. I just read the amount of women paying alimony has been increasing, and as a re…

I do agree that you shouldn't be forced to military service, but if forced it should be equal. Israel has compulsory conscription for both men and women.

Yes I would say all the bigotry groups of sexism, racism, homophobia, etc come from the same mentality and use the same tactics.

I definitely agree with you. GBV should only be used to address specific issues of gender inequality and not used for sexist validation. Just like black on black crime should only be used to address that issue within the black community and not used for racist validation.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 07:42 PM

I am not saying you are wrong and i'll would gladly support making sure GBV is not used in any way that promoted misandry, but I still believe you cannot just pretend that it doesn't exist. When you look at the recent victims of violent crimes, it is pretty 50/50 for men and women. But when you break down those violent crimes, GBV becomes relevant. Women are 4-5 times more likely to be killed by an intimate partner, this is just fact. It shouldn't be used to imply that men are never killed by th…

I believe that GBV can be used in sexist ways, but do not believe the term by itself is at all sexist. You can correctly use the term to say that Aileen Wuornos, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy were serial killers who exhibited GBV since all their victims were male. But I do understand the frustration because there are many things that are not intrinsically bad but are often used in bad ways.

Cis woman here. I believe this is a product of the "traditional western values" that the red pill/'looking for a tradwife' community would like to keep in place. You do not have to look far in those forums to find people there declaring that second only to providing, a man's role is to protect. Specifically to protect women from all the big bad people in the world. This idea is so ingrained that I had male coworkers telling me I shouldn't go out alone in the parking lot. Whenever I lived outside…

Ugh yeah sounds like similar crap many deal with in the US. Last year I broke my foot, AT WORK, and it took me out of work for 2 months (would have been longer but I pressed the doctors to let me go back for financial reasons). After another few more months they gave me my workers comp ...16% of my pay!

The US doesn't even guarantee paid time off for women. It SHOULD be that both parents are guaranteed time off for parental leave with pay. But conservatives call that socialism.

In the US they also have parental leave through the family medical care act....however it only gives the parents 12 weeks of unpaid time off.

That's awesome of you. Things I have done and see others to do to help men in the community ... Once a month my bf and I make bags for the homeless and hand them out. Socks are the number one requested item. We also usually include hygiene products as well such as: deodorant, mouthwash, toilet paper, razors and shaving cream for men, maxi pads for women. We would include food and snacks but found out quickly many homeless have teeth issues, so we started making sure the food and snacks we gave w…

America has a lot of issues with the justice system and race is a huge factor as well as gender. Men do get harder sentences than women for the same crime. Men usually get less leniency in court, especially family court. Black and Hispanic men get harder sentences and are less likely to get parole than white men. Black women also get harder sentences than white women. The chances of a black woman being or have been incarcerated in America is almost equal to white men. So yes gender plays a role,…

Well when my ex constantly accused me of cheating and exhibited jealous insecure behavior, it turned out it was because he was actually the one cheating on me. When my current bf started doing the same thing when we first started dating, it of course triggered me and I wanted to break up immediately, which was one of my toxic traits I got from my past relationship traumas. Turned out his untrusting behavior was one of his toxic traits he got from the trauma of being cheated on in his past relati…

Yeah all of society would benefit. America currently has a care crisis....child care, elder care, disability care are all desperately needed. These jobs are all underrepresented by men.

Well this group may post and comment on being anti feminist but I haven't seen much anti women / red pill rhetoric. So there are just bigger, uglier fish to fry. I can't speak on Reddit since I'm new and the only related subs I am in is ask feminists and this one. But on Facebook there are whole feminist groups that focus on posting the worst misogynistic screenshots from either the many red pill communities or just found in the wild posts and comments. And then a bunch from that group will go a…

Well I'm a woman and new to this group (and reddit) and this is what I have seen about this group. It is the most left wing and least misogynistic mens rights group I have seen on any platform. Most of the posts are talking about real men's issues and concerns and looking for support. That being said there are always some comments and some posts that are just "look how awful these feminists are". On one hand I understand the need to vent frustration and voice double standards. On the other hand …

There is a ton of sexism within the childcare industry. My best friend used to run a day care and now a preschool. And when she had the day care she said that there was this definite prejudice against hiring men to watch children. While she was completely fine with the idea, she had parents of the kids she watched that were not. A lot of false assumptions are made that men are more of a risk around children at worst, or that they just wouldn't be as good with kids as women would be at best. This…

Yes seems based off gender, but is it because of her or her husband? I have dated men that would prefer I texted the wife instead of the husband of a friend set.

Hypergamy was more regularly practiced back in the days before women couldn't work, be educated, own property....etc. Since there was no amount of working harder or bettering yourself to improve your station in life, the only way poor women could do it was to marry up. Now I see all these red pill posts about wanting tradwives. They want virgins who's main ambition is to be a submissive wife and raise kids and take care of the home while the man provides. And that's fine for those that choose th…

This is a really good question. I have a similar issue with calling myself a feminist. What used to mean an advocate for women to have equal rights, opportunities and pay, now has a bunch of connotations, sub cultures and gatekeeping. So if I have to label myself a feminist it also has to come with a ton of disclaimers. I think this happens to many cultural movements, we have seen it with political labels, BLM, "woke" culture, and now both feminism and MRA. It is as though the minority of extrem…

I totally agree. I think there are several factors that play into female predators being taken less seriously. The first being that women in general get lighter sentences and more leniency in court systems. The second is women are generally stereotyped to be less of a threat to children than men. I think it is easier for women to get closer to kids and be trusted by friends and family more than men are. The third is the fetishizing of young men/boys with older women. Because the young guy with t…

One of things that surprised me when I got older, was how many men I knew and loved that were victims of SA. As a young woman, I was led to believe that this problem mostly only affected women. Not only is it important to address this issue for the mental health of men, but as a society as a whole. Obviously most male victims of SA do not grow up to become predators, but almost all male and female predators were once victims themselves and if we can, as a society, make sure all victims of SA get…
