I mean... I don’t know about this. Not something I’d personally post about, but I’m not seeing any reason at face value to say she did anything terribly wrong. Just comes off as an odd post to me.

I was actually warned about behavior like this while on the dating scene in Beijing. I was told to never fall for the "I'm bringing a friend" stuff, because it was just a front to exploit dudes for free meals or something.

I would say that’s a perfectly great way of acquiring first-hand information! I imagine such information is incorporated into gender studies somewhere, but if not (which would be rather odd), I completely agree with adding that as a good way of informing one’s self or others about what’s going on.

While I agree there are likely other reasons more women don’t go into STEM (yes, including but outside of the likelihood that there are in fact some good old boys clubs out there), this is not exactly a good rebuttal. Because 1: people are allowed to be interested in other things, and 2: a collegiate-level study of gender dynamics in society would better inform someone about things exactly like why women don’t go into STEM more.
