Do what feels right for you. If someone here tells you to hug her and you don't feel comfortable doing it, it's going to be awkward and generally bad. If someone here tells you to shake her hand but a situation is clearly more suitable for a hug, it's going to awkward and generally bad. She's not expecting you to be this or that way, she's expecting to meet you so she knows what to expect from you. So, if you come out awkward, you have pretty much fucked it up.
