Based on what I've read around here it seems like: Beta men sell, Alpha men buy. Just because you find yourself in a new marketplace shouldn't change the nature of your character.

The problem is it's hard to find a "supportive husband" and not so hard to find a "supportive wife." That is obviously not the case, this study highlights what people are attracted to in relationships. There are plenty of "supportive" men but those don't generate as many relationships. It doesn't make being a "supportive" man right or wrong but it is clearly less likely to produce a relationship as these researchers have shown. Some people can have it both ways but you must in in the minority th…

Why is this not a given viewpoint? Why is it people don't have a natural instinct to improve themselves? From your link How do you make a child know himself? You surround him with mirrors. "This is what everyone else sees when you do what you do. This is who everyone thinks you are." You cause him to be tested: this is the kind of person you are, you are good at this but not that. This other person is better than you at this, but not better than you at that. These are the limits by which you are…

Either you are not very creative or your choice in women is poor. That's not to say you have to have sex all the time, but it shouldn't be the burden you make it out to be. It sounds like you've been putting too much priority on sex and not enough on the other things. Balance your lifestyle but don't tell me sex isn't valuable or exciting.

Thanks again, your posts have a lot of valuable information based on your experiences. It can be difficult to know who and when to talk to about problems or weakness. The psychology of advice is particularly relevant where it seems like if you don't act on it you are saying to them, "your advice is stupid or you are stupid and I don't wan't your help." When of course you may just disagree on what the best kind of help is. You can talk about weakness and problem solving but your attitude can neve…

I'm sorry but I think this is a shallow fallacy. I don't know if the RP is about just getting laid or relationships, but relationships operate of a relative scale. Just like Alessandra wouldn't be interested in any of those 50 men, a high value man wouldn't appreciate the every day validation he get's from women. My guess is that OP is not challenged by the women around him. Everyone should at least engage in relationship theory even if they only need it to deal with high value peers. I bet Brad…

Kick him in the head. This move shows a lack of respect for your presence but if you choose to make yourself known with a witty remark or by slapping him back you should be prepared for the above, so just skip the small talk.

Not necessarily, I'm in a similar situation. Just because you get social validation for being 'pretty' doesn't mean it's enough to compensate for your own expectations. I was born good looking but it's not how I validate myself so a relative lack of social/financial success leaves me depressed. I know I can pick up a girl, but I can't buy a house or raise a family so what's the point?

It means she needs you to be more stable. Silent treatment is an emotional reaction and is not what she is looking for. You are her rock, when she comes to you with problems you LISTEN first, then you nod silently and say something like, 'yes I understand that sounds terrible.' Which you probably don't and it probably isn't but try anyway or find a new chick with better problems. When she becomes emotional and brings that to you, you agree but do not try to fix it and do not add emotion. As you …

Clicked on your link, followed a subsequent link to Koanic Soul and here's my take. r/K theory is based on female selection strategy while alpha/beta theory seems to evolve more from the dynamics of male interaction. Similar model but from a different perspective.

Your concepts are too abstract to apply to the 21st century man. Who is my neighbor? Another human? An American? Only men of Italian/American descent? Or just the guy next door who drives a Prius? No, none of them is my enemy, we aren't really worried about 'the terrorists.' Modern conceptions of identity are too simple to show necessary morality. We are not afraid of man that is why we fight social political and idealogical enemies[communism/terrorism etc] You have an argument that is valid but…

The point here is that female sexuality is overvalued. More often than not understanding is shrouded in the personal opinions of ridicule and shame, because The mindset of western men leads them to overvalue women's sexual worth and in a typically male fashion attempt to 'fix' everything. If you don't value something and don't think it is worth fixing you just leave it. There is nothing more beta than trying to fix something that has no value to you.

The paradox you have identified is what plagues this community. The mindset of western men leads them to overvalue women's sexual worth and in a typically male fashion attempt to 'fix' everything.

I can't stand by this. There's no need to run unless you are afraid or can't manage the situation. I am usually polite and let the dogs play or at least say hi. Dog behavior is a great indicator of who does and does not have their shit together, myself included. Though most dogs are out of control, some women can handle a big dog, the others will get the picture that they need to tone it down. Set a good example for other people especially if you have a big dog. Run away and you just look like a…

There is a strategy to giving your number despite what these guys might think. I'm not expert but it seems like a longer term play. See a girl regularly like a neighbor and it might help you build 'frame.' If you see her everyday it's too late for the initial impression, but she'll still wonder why you don't ask. If you see an opportunity to help her, giver her your number, but make sure it comes across as I don't need your help, but you might need mine. Girls love that white night shit, just be…

This was a good article but I'm not sure this sub is well acquainted with the spiritually enlightened Alpha, so it could be difficult to relate. I'm surprised there's no concept of 'masculine energy' which I think is a great descriptor, but we are a very literally oriented group.

Good post, I think there are a number of ways to approach this but you've already taken the biggest step by forcing things upon yourself. As a senior in college I got a job as a coffee barista specifically to be in a social setting. Whenever the girls got tired of customers BS I would gladly take over the register and chat up every customer that came. I worked in the front lobby of a major urban hospital so we got literally every walk of life. Small talk is different than developing a continual …

Because relativity is a pain in the ass. You need reference points and that creates a spectrum with extremes at either end. Someones notion of the above concepts(RP/BP) generally relates to their positioning on that scale. It will be like this as long as human relationships remain two dimensional.

If I get what you're saying it works like a self reinforcing confidence builder. Confidence would of course increase someones perceived value but someone with pathologically low confidence might express the symptoms of what we call narcissism.

I wan't so much making an argument as saying that entitlement is something created by social pressures and we needn't be subject to them. Even if you're young white male western and from the suburbs you aren't entitled to anything. If you can embrace this attitude you will have no expectations to meet or worry about falling short of.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/06/14 02:59 AM

Ok, so I skimmed, but I'm curious about the concept of entitlement. Too often I see young men reacting to a sense of entitlement put on them by someone else or another social group. Remember you don't owe anyone anything and you may feel less responsible for their social misconceptions.

The primary coping mechanism of men, whether they like it or not, seems to be along the lines of doing I couldn't agree more, but still find myself second guessing the soundness of those actions. I can water my lawn all fuckin' day but don't I owe it to cure cancer? Taking care of my property may be just as important as taking care of myself and therefor frequently outweigh a perceived obligation to others. How do you find balance between your own lunacy and the utility of anyone else's?
