NodeJS as a server should be able to serve more than required people along with ExpressJS and ReactJS can be used for front end UI. You can do your other stuff like getting Reddit posts with the NodeJS server as well. The only downside to this is that it requires dedicated hosting instead of shared hosting that PHP does but I would say JS>PHP and more secure.
