I completely agree with you. I was simply replying to a comment that asks how people can think "good for him." And I agree that the bias in this situation is fucked up. I just disagree with the people that think she should get a harsher sentence. I KNOW what the judge says is wrong, but I think people on here should be more focused reducing charges against men in similar situations rather than giving harsher sentences to women just because "it's what a man would get."

I completely agree that the sentences should be equal. I just think the sentences for men in similar situations should be LOWERED to the level of a woman. I think THAT'S what we should be arguing for. What I disagree with is all the people here who would have this woman thrown in jail for the rest of her life because "it's what a man would get."

That's irrelevant to this case. It's not acceptable for anyone who works in education to be doing something like this, regardless of the student's age. She let the whole teaching profession down. It's not irrelevant at all. She's being charged with "unlawful sexual relations with a 16- or 17-year-old" not with "unlawful sexual relations with a student."

As a navy vet, I'd like to say that MOST (as in the fucking majority) of the females I've had to work with never pulled their weight when compared to the men. Yes, there were shitbag MALES who didn't pull their weight, but they didn't make up the majority. Maybe USMC, Army, and Air Force chicks are different, I'm just speaking of my personal experience.
