Unless, sciencists find the genome for ageing and learn how to manipulate it. I've heard more than once, that the people alive today, will be amongst the last to die and first to love forever. If that's the case, older people will likely rule (more time to accumulate assets and influence) and younger people, the worker bees. Hang on... That probably, does create demographics for a dystopian Handmaiden's Tale society. Child bearing women would become rarer.
