but I think many of us were jaded by how much we hear that men's relationships with us are just performative The reason for this could be that women tend to select for performative men over genuine men. A man is always told and also learns from experience that he should be and act in certain ways to be considered attractive, and if he isn't attractive, being genuine and authentic won't work out well for him unless he gets really lucky.

True, a day ago I saw a thread in a feminist subreddit where the author wrote "I hate men" and "misandry isn't real" in the very same post. While obviously, they would label any critical statement made about even a subset of women as misogyny or sexism. They believe they get to win arguments by defining words as they please and disregard the common meaning or dictionary definitions of words.

To be clear, feminists care only about reproductive rights for women, not for men. When it comes to reproductive rights for men, then suddenly "sex is consent to parenthood" and "he should have kept it in his pants".

Not much older than me and not very fat, basic hygiene, enjoyable to spend time with and likes me back. And that's about it. I think these are very reasonable standards for everyone to have, although some may not care about age or obesity.

Human rights are not sacred laws like the Law of Moses, they are things some people wrote down on a piece of paper once and which other people may agree with or not.

Google is known to use a crappy model for their "AI Overviews", that's why there are a lot of funny images circulating where it gives bad answers. LLMs are known to have a strong gender bias due to their training data, however. Some more than others. Here is Grok 4 Fast's response to your prompt: In the United States in 2023, females experienced an intimate partner homicide rate of 0.9 per 100,000 persons, compared to 0.5 per 100,000 for males. This results in a ratio of approximately 1.8:1 (wom…

You just need to be extroverted and have little inhibition. Just have a completely different personality type than you have had since birth, it's literally that easy.

Regarding the first study, how much does this matter in practice when the same study also found that "male members were also inclined to give higher ratings overall than female members" and that "males were 240% more likely to say yes to potential female dates than females to potential male dates". Other studies also confirm that women rate the facial looks of men more harshly than men rate the facial looks of women, and that women are more picky than men are when choosing who to date. And if yo…

If: (1) women were expected to make initial advances as much as men are, instead of just passively receiving advances, and (2) women were as romantically/sexually interested in most men as men are in most women, then I would expect women to act "creepy" as often as men do. In fact when a man is highly attractive, attractive enough to make many women actually show interest and approach first, you get plenty of stories of women acting inappropriately or clumsy, for instance by touching him, behavi…

Men are primarily responsible for safety and security. Then what are women primarily responsible for? If your answer is "having children", then what societal pressures and/or legal obligations do you think should be put on them to uphold this responsibility?

If "good personality" was enough then women would be sexually attracted to their male friends, because if they are friends then presumably their personality is good enough to want to spend time with them regularly. But being a good friend doesn't make someone sexually attractive. On the other hand, the man a woman is attracted to is not necessarily, not always, more physically attractive than all of her platonic male friends. He may have personality traits that are considered attractive but don'…

These tests don't seem well thought-out. Any observation that men and women tend to act differently may be judged as sexist, as if gender roles don't exist. Why does an observation that "men are more willing to take risks" or "men are more willing to put themselves in danger to protect others" count as "sexist attitudes"? If these sentences were formulated as normative statements, that men should be like that, that's one thing, but these are statements that may be true or false.

If a man and woman have sex and the woman decides shortly after that she's not interested in continuing the relationship, or that she prefers it staying a purely "friends with benefits" relationship, was he being "used for sex" if he was interested in more? It's funny how the passive tone and victim framing is always used for women only.

Since their typical attitude is "it's not our job to solve men's issues" I tell them "solve your own problems". And because he won’t play the part of the benevolent sexist, he’s seen as cold, when in truth, he’s just treating women as equals. There was a study that found that men that were rated low on "benevolent sexism" were regarded as being as sexist as those rated high on "hostile sexism". They were assumed to be misogynistic, to be bad husbands and fathers, less supportive of female profes…

I think there is an evolutionary mismatch going on because the kind of men who were "genetically perfect" in the evolutionary environment are hardly "genetically perfect" in the context of modern society. That's why it can be baffling when you see what kind of men many women choose and which they overlook. A tall, strong and dominant man who is good at making other men submit to him by one means or another may have been a great mate choice a hundred thousand years ago but is hardly someone who i…

They really dislike indications of insecurity in men. Even though many women have insecurities themselves and really wouldn't like to be judged negatively for it. Only women are allowed to have weaknesses. Those who preach about "abolishing gender roles" or "toxic masculinity" often feel this way too.

Always interesting to observe how when women complain about supposedly being unable to find ("suitable") men for relationships they are treated sympathetically by the media and no one flings the dismissive "you're not entitled to a relationship" retort at them.

So if I'm understanding correctly, all you want is for women to publicly acknowledge that getting casual sex from good looking men is easy? It's easier for them to get into relationships as well. It's not just that they are less interested in casual sex. They don't even consider the sexless men for relationships either. Meanwhile those men dream of being in a relationship, not necessarily casual sex.

When it's an employer's market employers start to look much more for reasons to disqualify applicants than for reasons to hire them and become very nitpicky. Their standards sometimes become so inflated they won't even consider applicants that are not "unicorns" and end up not hiring anyone at all for long periods of time despite being able to hire decent candidates. As an unattractive or "loser" man you can't do anything right, your problems must only ever be due to your own bad character, due to the Just World Fallacy and the Halo Effect and the Horn Effect. What they really want is for you to be silent about your situation but still contribute to a society you have minimal stake in and to support the political causes they support while expecting nothing in return for it.

Help solving the problems, not just help to cope with the problems, unless the problem truly is unsolvable which is usually not the case. But scheduling a few CBT sessions or prescribing a psychotropic pill certainly is easier and cheaper. Many men want to take action to improve their lives, not just talk about their problems or change the way they think about them. When they don't know how to solve a problem, despair may set in.

Men with mental health issues do need therapy I'm not convinced. These mental health issues often don't come from nowhere, and therapy is often disappointing, it's not a magic bullet for everything. Studies have found that women have an ingroup bias. I suspect them projecting this mentality on men is why many of them believe that men as a group are conspiring against them. In fact, powerful men don't care at all about other men, there is no gender-wide solidarity among men.

It's just an extreme example of a more general and very common phenomenon of women who are drawn to violent, abusive, aggressive, dominant types of men or that attractive traits can make them overlook shitty behavior. Most of those women are not crazy.

A criminal is only considered evil when their victims are women or children. I don't know, Ted Bundy received hundreds if not thousands of love letters. Yes, every instance of violence against someone who is female is conveniently counted as "misogyny" regardless of the actual motive. When they say that "misogyny kills", they are counting every female murder victim as a victim of "misogyny", they are not only thinking of the extremely rare Elliot Rodgers out there. Even if the war ends today Ukraine's future is looking bleak. For sure, most men wouldn't hurt a fly. Except in self-defense (it would have to be a really nasty fly). But it could be that certain genes or combinations of genes that cause someone to be more prone to physical aggression, perhaps in combination with environmental factors, are more prevalent in the male population. Add to this greater capacity to cause serious damage due to larger size and muscle mass. This is just speculation, more research is needed. Many believe that all personality and beh…

Conclusion Male violence is not an inevitable outcome of male biology If this is meant to imply that male violence has no relation to biology at all, or that cultural changes may completely eliminate the difference in probability of being violent, I don't find it plausible. When life-long monogamy is no longer the norm it makes little sense to be willing to die for one's family - one's children, sure, but not one's partner. I don't know about the circumstances of that particular case, but police here often decline to investigate other types of reported crimes even when you present evidence (e.g. physical assaults, burglaries), it's not unique to sexual crimes. If we assume for the sake of argument that men are socialized to see women as sex objects, then are not also women socialized to see men as success objects? As a man, it can be difficult to think of yourself as being good enough as you are, because your value in the eyes of others, and therefore ultimately also in your own eyes, is tied to your utility to others and to your position in society. It's one reason for why the vast majority of "deaths of despair" are men.

Even when both men and women are drafted ~99% of combat deaths are still men. It was interesting to look at lists of IDF soldiers fallen in combat. It all depends on what you count as "killed by misandry" or "killed by misogyny". When feminists say that misogyny kills, they are counting practically every female homicide victim as a victim of "misogyny" regardless of the actual motive of the killer. They wouldn't count any male homicide victim, even if the killer is female, as a victim of misandry. If you are going to count every type of death that affects one gender disproportionately as systemic sexism, then far more men overall die from s…

People tend to start off with an opinion - usually absorbed via osmosis from their social environment - and only then look for ways to rationalize it. These men, being physically attractive enough to get numerous matches, have abundant options, and probably some women even if only a minority of them respond positively to their lazy or vulgar advances. “Misogyny kills, Misandry irritates” Keep in mind they count every woman who is killed by a man as a victim of misogyny, regardless of the actual motive. Women attempt suicide more than men. Since this is often brought up as an argument in discussions of male suffering, I think it's worth pointing out: Someone who "attempts" as a cry for help will be able to "attempt" multiple times. Someone who makes sure it succeeds will not be able to "attempt" any more after that. This is going to distort the statistics. Both are bad but which is more serious?
