I feel like this article takes several great concepts that people talk about in this community, and exaggerates them or leaves out important context.

It was okay... Dale Carnegie's classic "How to Win Friends & Influence People" is a lot better. This book has a few good tips but I felt like I knew a lot of them. I got the audio book so it was a lot easier to make it all the way through. I suppose it depends where you're at - if you really struggle with conversation, you may want to pick this one up. I felt like I already had a pretty good foundation.

Uh, this was lifted practically word-for-word from the book "How to Talk to Anyone" by Leil Lowndes, including the example of Columbus, Ohio....he could at least give her credit...

There may be some wisdom to extract from this, but I think many in this community would argue that asking her what she wants to do is something you should really never do. It can come off quite needy and is one of the things in the "Don't" checklist for leading. Instead, I'd propose suggesting something extravagant that you know she doesn't have the energy for (half joking half serious, like "let's go sledding!" at midnight), then you can use this tip.

I prefer the line, "So how do you guys know each other?" If they're together, they'll usually say so in response.

Two things: 1) Check out this video, where a guy approaches women with a dildo strapped to his head. Different in that it's clear it's not permanent, but interesting that you can work past an "elephant in the room" like that with confidence 2) The way you describe the automatic anxiety - every time you feel good you seem to automatically think about your eye - reminds me of a mind map. The figurative idea is that you have mapped the feeling of good to reminding yourself about your eye. I used to…

"Agh, I can only play Go Fish and Old Maid. Which one is it?" After she answers, laugh, then move on and get her number etc. True story, those are the only ones I can play. I always say it when someone mentions cards and it gets a laugh.

This sounds interesting. Can you give an example?

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it. I just want to make sure I'm not doing things that would lead her on despite expressing my intentions, i.e. buying her flowers, certain types of meals etc?

Hah, really? What makes you say that?

Yeah, I need an example that's not actually creepy. Like, "oh absolutely. One time I..."

I usually suggest a date/time at least 24 hours in advance and am specific about the location. I say "let's meet at" rather than "are you free at". If she says she's busy, I don't read into whether or not she suggests another time - I say "ah, that's too bad - ill get back to you about another time then" and text her in a couple days wi the same method. I think I read that on here. Something I tried yesterday with a girl that's usually quite busy was I said, "all right, I can do wednesday or Thu…

She may have wanted you to be more confident and in control when you kiss her - lead the way, move her around, etc. and yeah, no tv watching when a girl shows up in that outfit. That's one hell of an IOI.

She was escalating all night. Honestly I felt cat string theory personally. She just became too easy. Really shed light on what girls experience when guys make their intentions abundantly clear like that.

In that case, I'd recommend some foundational work first. Check out the beginner section on this post. I highly recommend you try "talking to everyone" for a while. Not to get a number, just to get comfortable approaching a stranger and having a normal human conversation with them. As you get more comfortable with that, you can focus on adding light kino, demonstrating value, and building attraction.

Not an uncommon situation. Search this subreddit for waitress to see what others have done

I would say that suggesting to a girl that going on a date with you as a "favor" in any sense is a poor approach, and puts you below her on the social ladder. If anything, you should treat it as if you're taking a chance on her, lending her your time! I'd use a line like, "I'll let you repay me by buying me dinner...but none of that Applebees bullshit" (the particular restaurant is just an example; it just shows that you're in it for the food)

Most importantly, don't get hung up on her. This sounds like the definition of one-itis. Here's something you can try, but as I say in there, don't do it for her - seriously move on and just be "theoretically open" to something happening with you and her in the future

I'm having trouble approaching girls on campus. I don't really have trouble taking to them I'm a little confused - is your issue approaching/talking to them or what happens after that?

It sounds like she just feels like you're more into her than she is into you. Check out my other comment

This can be a good thing. It demonstrates social proof - someone else wanting your attention shows you have value. If you let the other person have your attention a bit, it shows you're not consumed with the "target."

1) Ideally the best place would be anywhere. Mystery recommends the 3 second rule: if you see a girl you're attracted to, approach her within 3 seconds. The longer you wait, the more you'll think it over and ultimately get nervous. I find it's actually great practice to chat with girls in random places like fast food restaurants, even if I have no intention of getting their number. The practice makes it a lot easier to approach a girl when I do, regardless of the venue. But to your question, boo…

Remember that it's normal for humans to interact with each other. Asking her what she's listening to, where she's from, etc. doesn't have to be creepy. It's normal human interaction. Once you get over that nervousness you can let your personality carry the rest of the conversation.

The issue you're experiencing is cat-string theory. If you feel she's less into you than you are into her, or that she's friend-zoning you, pull back. Don't be as available - be busier. Go on dates with other people. Let her find out (don't make it seem like you're doing it just to make her jealous). I had a similar situation last year around the time I discovered this subreddit. I could tell that when she'd text me to hang out and I'd say, "Sorry, I'm out at dinner" or "I'm at the mall with a f…

Felt a bit 'young bucked' by your intro there, but I've got to say this is my favourite suggestion so far. I especially like the snapping part. Really commands attention and comes as a surprise. Can't wait to try this out. Thanks!
