This sub has gone downhill. Most of the comments disagreeing with you are borderline braindead. Sometimes I wonder are commenters here debating for the sake of debating as in throw in some random critique and call it a day.

I don't have much to debate except say that my experience and the experience of friends and acquaintances has been the same. I even think this is framed quite well because we are talking about "a positive interaction" because you can't really describe it in any other way because you are not sure what it is. Could be politeness, could be lukewarm interest, could be your mind makin you think its politeness after some initial hope.

I know this is a US sub and people discuss the US dynamics the most but I’m from Eastern Europe and in every single job and the two universities I’ve been to, including clubs in the universities, either almost all the women from the group had partners or at least more than half had a partner or were in some kind of situationship. Everywhere I go, most of the women are either taken or in a situationship. Some may be single but they might have someone they like or there is a low chance they would …

Standards are very high. People saying standards are the same haven’t dated when in their 20s recently. I’m 6’3, not a gym rat but not chubby too. Used to feel like I’m above average, now it feels below average. Social skills are worse for both men and women except it affects men the most since women are the ones being chased. You need to face rejection and stay alone for years which makes you even less suitable for a relationship. Social circles are less common or even if the guy has a social c…

Used to lurk here during 2017-2018-2019. These things were well known then but the quality has really dropped. Now it’s literally a rare occurrence to see a single worthwhile comment in whole threads, back then it felt like many people actually contributed. The vast, vast majority of comments now are either utterly delusional or very low effort regardless of whether they are blue, red or black pill.

The level of discussion on this sub is very low now. I miss the old sub, damn.

I've had most success on dating apps when I was the one who lead the energy of the conversation, for example. No idea where this advice comes from, to be honest.

Im a certified old man cuz I never really used discord so I dont even think of looking for it.

Are there alternatives to this sub nowadays? Used to frequent this place a lot before 2020 and I came back recently but it’s just not the same.

Used to know a girl who was like a 5 on a good day. She was saying many times how she is single for years but she always had some guy lined up for her, went on dates, hook ups etc.

I know it's probably not the exact advice you were looking for but I'd say avoid people who show no effort or barely show effort. I recently removed a person from my life who, from the start, was barely showing effort to engage with me. By barely I mean telling me that the person is at home on his or her phone all day and yet still replying in four hours with the driest responses ever. The question here is whether there will be alternatives such as people who actually show effort. As you mention…

I know it's a cliché in this sub but the best way to not be boring is for the other person to really find you attractive and to want to be with you. This has been my experience as a guy who got his self esteem crushed because I thought I was the most boring person ever when trying to entertain women who didn't want me. Whenever a girl really liked me and especially if I liked her back, both of us went through awkward moments very easily and the question or thought of being boring never came up.

I don't know if Im engaging with your argument correctly. I draw my current conclusions from my experience as a guy on OLD who got some matches. The only girls that really stuck with me and liked me were the ones messaging me first. I would apply the same thoughts in real life. If a girl comes to me in real life and tries to start a conversation, that's will immediately make me think she is cool because of the bravery, because she bothered and because Im a guy who no longer approaches in real li…

I think your list is quite accurate based on my experience. My list of things I learned from OLD as a guy are mostly the same things you said or are just elaborating yours with my ideas. If a girl likes me, she spends a lot of time chatting with me and also replies fast during that process. Like almost instantaneous chatting. She would gladly give her contact to switch from the dating app to some other common messaging app. There are no excuses for staying at home on a Saturday and replying ever…

In my personal experience, I know a lot of guys who have zero or very little success with women. These same guys, if I let people here describe them, would be called misogynistic incels and/or fake nice guys but in reality they are not only normal guys, with jobs, physically active, but they are chill and at the same time considerate people. Of course, they have flaws in their character but it's nothing like being a vile, vengeful, misogynistic etc.

Good post. I have never studied psychology so sorry if I don't use terminology and don't know the concepts. I feel personally attacked because the low self-esteem explanations fit me perfectly but at the same time I believe that in certain cases self-sabotage is still the preferred outcome for a person. There are people for whom having nothing happening in their lives will protect whatever they still have of their their mental health compared to what they will receive from just another failure l…

Being with a person I love and who loves me has objectively made me happy and fulfilled and gave me strength to deal with the other issues. I dont know where the automod comment is so Im agreeing with the post like this.

Oof for that bar situation... So you aren't white, as I understood? Are you brown, black? As for me, I have a feeling that Eastern European guys aren't really liked as partners in Scandinavia, generally speaking. I just realized I know know a lot of British, American, German, Italian and Spanish guys who have Scandinavian girlfriends but I can't literally remember a single Eastern European guy with a Scandinavian girl. These guys just paired with other Eastern European girls. I mean, my only opt…

Absolutely true. I am a shut-in nowadays but whenever I have common topics with people, men, women or trans, doesn't matter, I can communicate without issues. But when it comes to flirting, oh boy, Im bad on a next level. And the issue is that my relationships have never needed a flirting phase so I couldn't train those skills. And talking with friends or acquaintances does not train them also. So the person's comment absolutely does not apply to me.

Thats crazy, Ive literally never had any positive experience with women from the Scandinavian countries simply because I dont think there was a single woman liking me while I lived there even though im 6'2 and white. I lived in Sweden, Denmark but also met a lot of Norwegian women. At one point, I literally stopped feeling attraction to the women in these countries simply because I just assumed nobody would like me. At the same time, I did way better with Eastern and Southern European girls in t…

We are all speculating here, however, I do not believe that what you say is true because I and a lot of my friends know normal guys with great physique who literally struggle even getting a date or who have been treated so badly that they are literally shadows of their former selves. There is no visible reason for these guys to struggle. Also, in my experience, the times where I bothered the less to have a good physique was the time I had interest from women.

It literally never happens to me or to my friends. For us, not chasing means no women, however, if you have a large open friend group, go to parties, yes, it is possible to be considered as an option by some woman but then I think you still have to chase.

I have yet to see a good response that stands against this idea. Yes, these things go both ways, however, considering how women have the upper hand in the final decision, it is their desires that make things happen. If you do not have certain very specific qualities that a certain woman is looking for, you can be the best in some other sphere and it will bring you nothing.

For now, what I think we can be sure of is that the majority of young women reject and would reject the majority of young men. Why that is the case I dont know. I can only guess. First, the attractiveness bar is set very high where to be considered normal you have to be fit, have certain universally accepted facial and body features. You have to be at a minimum above average at this point to even have a meaningful chance of having a normal love and sex lives (by this mean no significant droughts…

Oh, thanks, though, I do not think it is something to feel sorry for because, in the end, there are the cold facts and, also, we are not entitled to love, companionship etc. It is quite clear that a lot of people, specifically, a lot of men, will never end up experiencing these things, let alone have positive results from experiencing them.

Well, I guess its something that you see in many other commments but for me it was a combo of factors. First, it was the bad heartbreaks that ended every single relationship Ive had plus the heartbreaks from rejections. The issue here is that when I feel love, I am 100 percent in it, so for me to actually act, it means that I really love the woman. This is a big, big mistake. Second, I noticed that my experiences with women around me have generally been quite negative both in real life and onlin…
