A teenage adult?

I mean, you’d have to describe what you are considering creepy. Most young women is a bold statement, considering that most women, in general, participate in some form of age/gap dating.

Nah. The complaints are pretty even. If you attract shitty men, you attract shitty men of all ages.

But women complain about dating men of all ages.

That’s because there is an increase in single, older women who have to compete with younger women. The obvious response is to demonize those relationships.

But in a group of 10 random women, depending on where you assemble the group, chances are non of them will be a 8, 9, or 10. You may have a couple of 6s. But I’d say most of them would be a 4 or a 5.

I mean it’s hard to gauge because I don’t know what you looked like. But again, during the time of POF, even on other sites, OLD was not big, and not a main way of normal people meeting each other.

Lol, you know where I was going. But POF was popular in a time where people weren’t fully invested in online dating, so I’d hypothesis that most people, especially men, were looking for hookups.

Exactly. POF was trash by the way, lol. But you’re highlighting the current modern dating phenomenon. The average men who many women should be swiping on and dating are getting ignored, and the above average men they match with are most of the time only doing it for sex.

Even if they smashed most of them, how long would that take. If you’re talking about about guys that are smashing a different girl every night, then you’re talking about a very, very small percent.

Uh. You’re literally saying what I mentioned. Guys who want to approach you for sex will do so. The OP’s theory was that men weren’t matching/engaging because her profile stated she didn’t want a “hookup”. Not sure where you’re going with this.

It’s based on relativity(lack of a better word), lol. If most women are choosing a select few guys, then those guys are obviously the top. Regardless of why women pick those men, they still represent a minority. Whether one woman picks for looks, or the other for perceived wealth/status, they are still picking a few men. Now, does that mean those men are better than the other 90%? Not really. But it doesn’t matter if the women aren’t giving the other 90% a chance.

You’ve heard it, and you’re living it. Hence the reason why many of you are complaining about OLD, lol. The stats don’t lie. The testimonials don’t lie. Again. YOU’RE making the assumption that if she is not a 6, she’s ugly. I never said anyone below a 6 was ugly. If she was claiming to be an 10, but was only going after guys that are 10s, and I said she wasn’t a 10, does that make here ugly?

She states that she gets matches, though not a lot, there’s just no follow through. But I’d disagree with you about top tier men swipe choices. I don’t necessarily consider myself top tier, but I’ve had several times when I was sitting on 20 or so matches. At that point, I’m not even swiping any more until I get through the bulk of them. Even if I was just looking to smash, it takes time, effort, money(dates) to get to a point where I’m ready to jump back on. And many times, a lot of those matche…

I’m in San Diego. You’re league could be different depending on your location. Unless you’re willing to date long distance in a place where you have better results, you’re pretty much stuck with where you are.

I never said she was ugly. A “5” is not ugly, even a “4” has attractive traits. What I said is based on dating app data and anecdotal common sense. One study showed, I believe it was from Tinder, that roughly 80% of women swipe right on less than 15 - 20% of men. By simple math, less than 20% of women even have a chance of being satisfied with OLD because of their swipe choices. The OP didn’t mention, or could ever know, whether the men she was swiping on were in or out of the top 20%. My assump…

That’s probably true, but again, the statistics show that around 80% of the women swipe right on about 15-20% of men, or even less. Regardless of what a particular woman is looking for, the data still holds that a select few men get a majority of the attention. Even if you were to occasional pick one of the men in the 80%, you’re still probably close to the top 30- 40%, if that.

I always give this advice to my female friends, and even some delusional male friends, who complain about the lack of success on online dating. Take some time and swipe right on everyone. The guys who take you seriously, want to meet, and look to date long term is what your “league” is. It’s a harsh wake up call, but at least it brings some reality in what you can expect from dating, even outside of dating apps.

Understood. But again, dating app statistics don’t support the notion that women are swiping on guys who are in their “league”. If I assume you swipe like the average woman, you’re looking at the top 10 - 15 percent of men, which is a recipe for disappointment if you’re not in the top 10% of women.

Of course. But there are only a few “Chads” compared to an abundance of average to below average women. Even “Chad” is limited to the amount of women he pursues/dates, lol. If an average women happens to hook up with a Chad or two, then that becomes her new standard. When the Chads dry up, then the woman assumes the problem is the lack of Chads, and not that Chad was out of her league to begin with.

Nah, guys who just want sex are not deterred by someone’s profile saying “no hookups”. Mostly because that can mean anything( sex after the first, second, third, and fourth date, etc.). If a man finds you attractive, he will pursue you and later determine if sex is not an option. You’re probably matching with guys who either have plenty of other matches or are not attracted to you(no offense). But either way, and not to sound rude, but your probably swiping out of your league, which is true for …

Gender norms have a strong basing in biology. Women want strong, assertive, relatively successful men. Men want fit, feminine, and cooperative women. How we attribute that in our society(clothing, jobs, household expectations, etc.) is inconsequential. If it were “masculine” to wear pink, then most men would wear it. It’s less about how we prescribe gender in our society, but more about an individual’s acceptance and application of that gender expectation.

Understandable. But, there are so many guys, good guys, who complain about not getting matches. So it’s hard for me to fathom that an above average(6) girl cannot find a guy to strike up a convo with and meet. Especially if you’re not focusing on their photos.

Are you swiping on guys that are 5-6s, or 8, 9, and 10s? If it’s the latter, it’s understandable why they don’t message you back. Many guys mass swipe, even attractive ones, because it’s not worth the time to look and read a profile that’s probably not going to match with you in the first place. When they do get a match, then they look at your profile to see if you’re attractive enough to start a convo.

Yeah, don’t mean to be harsh, but there is some truth to this. There is no way that a girl who is an actual 6 is not getting loads of matches. The only reason I can think of is that she isn’t swiping right on guys who are 6s, but 8 and 9s. The few matches she’s getting could be mass swipers, but if those guys are highly desirable, they’re only going to put time into a select few women.
