If you are going to do the date nights, I’d suggest letting her know you’d like to be asked in advance. And she can drop them off fed perhaps? If you don’t ask, it’s harder to set a boundary later.

I’d try to get an occasional photo of the kids yourself, or hand the phone to stranger when you are out somewhere so you can be in the pic. Then PRINT them and stick them around your house. Kids making “frames” of artwork that pictures can go on is especially great. Make your own special memories and photos that you can enjoy without using a device to see them.

Dear x - if you could find a lovely safe home closer towards me and kids could get enrolled in great school between us, think of how much easier they would have it to be in activities and make friends. If they are with me certain days, I can get them to a friends house or school activity much easier if the commute is low. Same for you. We would just be in “opposite” sides of that common school area perhaps. Less stress for kids if they don’t have the burden of a long commute to one parent - they…

Wow this sounds awful. Is it possible for you to hold off on divorce as she may be dying? Sletp in a different room, take kid on worthwhile outings and help with schoolwork/etc, and keep healthy food in home for everyone? Grey rock otherwise. Housekeeper from joint funds each week to keep things not icky and make some meals for the week. She can seek others to take care of her and there are ways to get to appointments without you. Your paycheck into solo account to avoid her draining it all some…

That really sucks. I hope you can spend some time with a friend. It is really hard to call someone to say you need to hang out when you feel this shitty, but it can help a lot.

I’m guessing the med has big effect. If you go off SSRI please taper. Most have withdrawal syndromes except perhaps fluoxetine that has longer half-life.

If your company is not large enough to fall under COBRA laws, then wouldn’t she be eligible for marketplace plan at a low rate if she is of low income?

I thought a divorced spouse could get COBRA coverage at the time of divorce to continue their health insurance for a period of 36 months. She is not eligible for that?

Who is on the lease? If just you, can landlord change locks or give you permission to do so when she is out of the home?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
