In the vast majority of sex assault cases, the assault takes place in private and only evidence is the victim's testimony. Here, there's video evidence that it occurred as well as an admission by the defendant. There's also many many witnesses. There's definitely enough here for a conviction.

I was under the impression that statutory rape is a strict liability offense. Meaning that there is no defense, including not knowing the age of the victim or believing they are older than they actually are.

Oh yeah for sure. That whopping 8% of the prison population in private prisons is definitely the reason that rape laws are the way they are
