You have to define what kind of crimes and give examples boi. The biggest most high paying crimes are done by those with high education and in high positions through fraud, legal loopholes and sexual assaults. Crimes done by the less educated population tends to get caught when it comes to drug trafficking or thievery.

I didn't know that, thanks for telling. Perhaps I should also then focus more on the critique how just the way prisons are run to account more into the issues it causes. I just cannot support a punishment mentality over rehabilitation, but even then there are probably exceptions that require individualized systems, e.g. people who are just so cold/brutal who cannot be fixed.

The original comment is an extreme simplification of the conversations actually happening. How bout everyone is equally taken care for and equally accountable and responsible for their own success? In my communities this has been the end result as we have taken these approaches. I could not be disinterested in anyone's quality of life and wellbeing, especially regarding a large demograph. Simply too unempathetic.

Imo all prison systems should focus more on rehabilitation like it does in Nordic countries. Nobody wants to end up like America with privatised prison systems. Rehabilitation had proven to be much more effective; to lower crimes and get down to the psychology of them, we should 'take care' of everyone.
