Ask your boss to let u train to serve. I've worked in restaurants for ten years and I started out as a dishwasher. I can say with confidence servers are much more likely to hook up with other servers. Plus as a fellow server you will be interacting much more often with he. This interaction can build a higher level of comfort which may lead to what you're looking for.
