Awesome post. Planning and executing a delicious meal is an investment that pays off in so many ways. A well made meal is always an invitation for her to enter your frame. Cooking Light magazine and their website has been an incredible resource for me, as has Skinnytaste. The OP is correct that you should print out the recipe and have it propped up somewhere close so that you don't have to touch it. I use printer paper with existing hole punches and put all my recipes in a binder. The binder is …

You have read the material but not internalized it. Go back and read your post. Using the concepts contained in NMMNG, why do you think you felt and verbalized what you did? The whole not initiating thing reeks of a covert contract. Also, you are seeking validation. If she's not jumping you, you're still not there. It's the easiest indicator of progress you have. Go back and read your post. Using the concepts contained in WISNIFG, how could you have used the communication tools the book provides…

My mother saw my grandfather cry ONCE, after his son was killed. She only saw this because she snuck downstairs after everyone had gone to bed the night after the funeral. He was in his study, in the dark, door closed, and sobbing as quietly as he could. My Mom has brought that shit up for YEARS even after he passed on, always with an air of disgust. He had handled everything from identifying the body to the burial without a tear shed. With quiet dignity, he performed his duties as a father and …

Tim, I too was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, and in starting my MRP journey, something you said struck me: I’ve implemented haphazardly and the result has been the same frustrations that always plagued my life – essentially revolving around me not having my needs and wants met. Just this weekend, I was hamstering the fuck out of myself and seething because of the bullshit fantasy-based covert contracts I was creating about how I should be fucked were not coming true. Here's the thing, other…

So I did a brief review of your posts to get some context. Her being verba non acta seems to be a big issue for you. I can understand that when you're doing so much work on you, it can be frustrating to not see that mirrored. I feel the same in my situation, but then I remember that it's supposed to be about making my ideal version of ME. It's hard enough just to control the thoughts and actions of MYSELF every day. How the fuck do I expect to influence hers, an ENTIRE other human being? I can h…

I would have gotten in bed and grabbed her tightly from outside the covers, making sure to pin her arms. Then I would have laid a kiss on her and then, in a low slow voice said "I don't. Is there any reason I should stay?" with a big smirk. Then escalate. She's still half asleep, so the defenses are not fully online yet. This is your change for a pre-dawn raid! Kicking down the door not with a boot, but with game. Even if she wasn't DTF, you bounce out of bed all bed all happy and ready to start…

It's tempting to "Spinkle a little Alpha on it" in these first few months, but you have a clear understanding of where you are and what still needs work. Thanks for the FR

I have a similar issue with my mother. If I were to interact with her on a regular basis, she would quickly start to rely on me as a source of emotional validation and likely, financial support. All of these things siphon energy away from my MAP, so she stays at arm's length with clear boundaries laid out as to the nature of our relationship. NMMNG lays out how to set clear boundaries. Maybe time to go back through the book, get a notebook to write out how you react to the material, and DO THE E…

As someone getting the wheel spinning, thanks for the reminder that momentum will build with effort and patience. Quality post.

"3 weeks into MRP. 1/2 way through MMSL, NMMNG, WISNIFG. " You could spend 3 weeks JUST reading and studying NMMNG. Does reading the Bible in 3 weeks give me all the cool Jesus superpowers? "She can go out on her own testing the market and maybe realize just how awesome I am, and am becoming." The only thing she'll realize is how much time wasted with you and will find herself a real man if she's as gorgeous as you say. You haven't become anything awesome in just 3 weeks. Everything in your post…

39 yo, married 6, together 16. First post also. Still in the first months, so just absorbing the material and STFU. Monk Mode. Just wanted to say thanks , your OYS this week resonated with me enough to finally post. NMMNG was a punch in the teeth. Listening to the audiobook was brutal, as a mirror was held up to my shit self for the first time ever. I simply had no idea. The TMJ thing.... Jesus do I feel you on this. I've always wanted to call bullshit on it, but of course Nice Guy. I hope the A…
