Because arbitrary laws are very hard to enforce, surely? How would they assess each individual case to see if they were sexually mature enough? Wouldn't that put more strain on an already sluggish court system? I agree with what you say absolutely, but we don't live in an ideal world.

My psychology course is like 4:1, if not higher. Girls end up queuing for 5-10 minutes to use the bathrooms but the lads have no such problems. While I'd be very against a situation like the one OP has highlighted, this really is a problem for girls in my class; it's just ridiculous that they should have to wait that long, or walk to another building, just to use a bathroom in decent time. The female bathrooms should be designated more space from the outset because, naturally, they need it.

Agreed, but we are working with the best figures that we've got; it seems sensible to apply the principle of charity to the CDC survey, once the methodological bias is eliminated. In reality, it's always going to be very difficult to determine rape statistics, as there is significant under-reporting from both men and women.

On your second point, I do think it's just your intuition talking. Being made to penetrate has very similar psychological consequences for males as being penetrated does for females. To separate the issues, to see male rape in the context of being made to penetrate as being a lesser crime, is stupid.

Sounds like she might have some very deep-seated issues with males. You're right, it's very strange, dissonant behaviour. "I have never gotten comfortable treating her like that in bed, but I do it for her sometimes." This doesn't sound like a healthy thing man. Ironically, in this case, it seems like you are the one being pressured into doing things you might not necessarily enjoy. Talk to her about it.

No, it's not. An incredibly small percentage of 'trauma' (which is by definition the source of the condition) is experienced by combatants during war; it simply manifests itself more noticeably in this group of people. In reality, trauma includes events such a sexual assault, serious injury, the loss of a loved one, etc. So no, it's not by far the most likely reason at all.
