Sure its not that complicated. In terms of calories, eat your TDEE on days you work out and eat at a 500-800 calorie deficit on other days. Eat high protein every day (at least .5 g / lb of bodyweight, preferably more like .8g), eat roughly the same amount of fat every day but cut your carbs heavily on days you don't workout. The simple way to do so is to not eat things like starchy sides and dessert on rest days. You will lose weight nice and slowly while still making strength gains.

I can cite plenty of well regarded fitness gurus including my favorite Martin Berkhan recommend maintaining year round leanness. B) 20% body fat is a ton of fat. I'm a little past the point where starting strength makes sense but I make sure every exercise has at least one (usually 2) of: Deadlift, Squats, Military Press, Bench Press, Pullups, and Bent-Over Row.
