I don't think he actually meant to pick up bodybuilding, but rather to start working out regularly to build a good physique. Building a body. Anecdotally, I found myself getting bigger much faster once I switched from doing a lot of isolating exercises to exercises incorporating as many muscles as possible, i.e. deadlifts, squats etc.
