The book, "When I Say No I Feel Guilty" is a verbal assertivenes guide. It has nothing to do with morality. It's aim is to help people who are too agreeable adopt tools to help themselves in everyday verbal interactions. In your half reading of it if you're shocked to learn that many interactions (especially commercial interactions) are both utilitarian in nature and reciprocity-based, then welcome to the fucking show. Commerce, I'm sure you would agree, is the root of civic virtue. One cannot l…

If you’ve got a 7 month old, first of all enjoy that joyous time with the kid because it goes fast. Secondly, your wife’s emotions are gonna be all over the place, especially if the kid isn’t sleeping through the night fully yet. Are you helping with that at all? I think it’s wisest to offer comfort and stability where it’s needed and to be a good influence where it’s possible. Probably what you don’t want to hear is this: A high earning high status doesn’t exclude you from the hard work that wi…

Whatever you may feel about “monk mode”, there is merit in a needy guy whose entire emotional center is his wife seeking a change of balance. If a dude initiates because he’s seeking validation, and is emotionally devastated when his wife rejects him, it might be a good idea for him to stop initiating for a while. At least until he can get rejected without it bothering him. Outcome independence, they call it here. I do agree that for someone doing the above it requires putting in work to cut cov…

Sounds like you’re an exhausting, judgmental dick who expects and needs constant attention. Maybe don’t be or do those things ? I’m not saying it’s easy, but just focus on your own self realization and try not to base your value on what women think of you. Self realization means finding your own purpose through honest self-inquiry, then fearlessly pursuing whatever that is. You’ll know it’s correct when it feels right. When you’re thinking and living this way girls aren’t the focus. They’re seco…

Guys, it's way better if you read this post in a deep Russian accent.

“Don’t be afraid of other people’s emotions.” That’s profound advice. How does one internalize this? OP describes his wife belittling, name calling, and being extremely antagonizing. What would his behavior look like having internalized the given advice ?

She’s no longer attracted to you and is repulsed by you regrets being with you? Thank her for her honestly, ask what you did to make her feel that way, then move on.

Looks like I’m never having sex again then.

I am STFUing and lifting. I still look like shit. Initiations invariably lead to rejection, or eventually, after much pleading or guilt tripping, completely unenthusiastic I’m-doing-you-a-huge-favor lowest quality possible intercourse. Rejection gets painful. Pleading is pathetic. Guilt tripping kills attraction. Low quality sex is barely worth the effort. So yeah. There are stages of development where it’s better not to initiate. It’s a step on the path forward.

What might a man do for his sexual needs (in the absence of covert contract) during the extremely long time it might take him to reach that point his wife deems worthy of desire?

Yeah but he got better.

You're not being unreasonable about wanting sex from your girlfriend after a month without it. What I don't understand is why you don't just move on. You barely see this girl, and she's clearly has no interest or respect for you. It's unreasonable to stay with a girl who doesn't provide what you need. Just move on to someone who does. Next. Also, dude, you should know better than to argue about sex after a girl rejects your advances. Don't get pouty or pissy about it. Don't show any emotion. Jus…

So maybe a day trip wasn't something worth getting worked up about. And you're right. If she wants to cheat, she will. Day trip or no. I shot it down though because it seemed way inappropriate. My wife, my car, some dude I've never met, me in another country. She'd lose her mind if I ever thought about doing the same to her. Still, it would have saved a lot of drama and worry for me just to shrug it off like you said.

God damnit this is some good advice. You nailed it. Thank you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
