You know I believe that there is some value in TRP, like being the best person you can be, in a way TRP is about living up to your full potential as a man. But this community loses me with the whole "women generally are unable to think logically." I think a lot of the theories about how to treat women and how you should never lose frame, is bullshit. I am highly critical when it comes to how people view gender dynamics, but I do think the advice about improving yourself has a lot of merit.

TL;DR: in short yes, my upbringing had me gravitate toward people who were highly ambitious and the intellectual scene. The funny thing is, my wife is the only second partner I have had in my life. Growing up, due to the nature of my father's work, I rarely spent more than 3 years in the same country. Which is actually the reason why my parents got divorced when I was 13. Dad was scheduled to move from Germany to China for his next "tour". However my mother, who had spent her whole adult career …

The funny thing is that practically all the women in my life are highly educated and logical. My wife of 5 years (we've been together for 10 years) is a doctorate level engineer and we work together for the same energy corporation. My mother has a doctorate In German Studies and works for the State Dept for the US. My sister is a neurosurgeon. My aunt on my mother's side, teaches IR at a top university on the east coast. Practically all the women in my life are or were extremely ambitious people…

My emotions are under control. That is because I can address them and not keep them pent up. When I swear, often it's in a casual manner, helps with my speaking. Also come back to me when your own father rejects your $20m project proposal that you spent a year on, and tell me how you feel. Who wouldn't get emotional? Now I admit, I have what you may call daddy issues. I come from a family where perfection wasn't good enough. My mom was a doctorate German Studies working for the State Dept. My da…

The guys been dead since 1970. He led the Packers from being one of the worst teams in the NFL to a team that won the first two Superbowls 50 years ago, which is the reason why the Superbowl trophy is named after him. He was a paragon of dedication, hard work, ethics, and intelligence. Before he was head coach of the Packers, he coached high school basketball, his knowledge of the game only coming from a book, and led that team to win multiple state championships if I remember correctly. John Ma…

Well we've been together for 10 years and we don't argue we haven't argued in years because we talk with one another. We don't have kids, not plan on having kids, were both in our mid thirties. We have similar interests. We don't have many friends because we don't spend more than 3-5 years in the same country. Who knows, maybe in 10 years we break up and get divorced, but at this rate it would take something extreme to happen. Look I'm not some soppy emotional type, I'm introverted so its hard t…

You obviously didn't hear a fucking word I said. I as I stated before, she was the one who prodded me ton discuss my feelings about the situation. Our relationship thrives off our ability to gauge each other's emotions and being able to discuss them. That is why we have had such a happy relationship and marriage. Humans are not fucking statues, we are emotional beings. Now I admit our approach to addressing our feelings is unconventional in this community. But it works for us and it helps get at…

I could not disagree with the essence of your argument anymore. I argue that after a certain point in a relationship, both partners need to have the ability to articulate their emotions to their partners or have that emotional vulnerability. Now I don't argue that a man should be the type of person who balls his eyes out to his girlfriend or wife every time he stubbed a toe. However, however, as a person who has been in a relationship for 10 years, five of them being happily married, the ability…

Well i believe you're selling yourself short. If you believe you are worth more, you ought to fight for what you believe your worth is. Make your employees believe you are worth more. I don't know maybe I have a completely different understanding of how you should market yourself. Right after I finished my doctorate, my wife and I had about 15 standing offers from energy corporations. My salary is based off of performance, so it can fluctuate about 20,000-30,000 per year. So I am motivated to wo…

Well it sounds like you feel as if you're are undervalued where you work. If you would present your case, then I'm sure you would have a better understanding of your place at where you work. Maybe they will see your effort and promote you or give you a raise. If not, then you have to ask whether or not the purpose you serve at the company is worth your time. Maybe you feel as if you could serve a great purpose doing something else. Giving your all of your effort should be intrinsically satisfyin…

Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers would have a bone to pick with your philosophy. My father is from Wisconsin and is a diehard Green Bay Packers fan (as am I, due to my upbringing) and so growing up even as I travelled around the world with my parents, I grew to know who Vince Lombardi was and his philosophy, it helped shape who I am today. And basically much like Vince Lombardi, one of the greatest men in American culture, I believe that unless you're not willing to put %100 in what you d…

I think in relationships, after a certain point you need that emotional vulnerability between the two people, whether it is heterosexual, or homosexual. What I mean by emotional vulnerability is not necessarily crying your eyes out every time. But I think when it comes to a long lasting and healthy relationship, is the ability to somehow articulate your emotions with your significant other. I have been with the same woman for 10 years, since I was 25, and I learned that after a certain point the…

Not really trying to brag. But I was trying to provide an alternate look at OP presented thesis of that you should not take your female SO fishing. If I wanted to humble brag I would have said that between the two of us, we make over half a million dollars a year, but I she decides my wardrobe each day and I like to cook the meals for us and garden and she was the one who turned me on to fishing.

My wife and I like to go fishing (we're currently in England on a three year stint for our energy company that we work for, and we've found this nice little lake that we go down about once very few months to borrow this old man's boat and just fish on it), its quiet and peaceful. But at the same time some of our most important conversations have occurred while we are fishing. It's a great place to have those important conversations in a relationship because there is no escape, you're trapped unt…

Oh God no, we don't want any kids. We're both 35, and we like the fact that we can pretty much go anywhere in the world on a moments notice in terms of financials. We like to work long hours together. Every weekend w can do something new that having kids would restrict us from doing. I mean we discussed having a kid the tear before we got married but we eventually thought it was a silly idea.

Yes i can and have commited violence. And to be honest it can really hinder relationships. A little about myself, i am a doctorate level engineer who spent most of his childhood travelling around the world spending no more than three years in one country as i went along with my dad (who is also a doctorate level engineer) as he worked for this international energy conglomerate. When i was 16, my father and came back from China so that i could finish high school and go to a top American universit…
