If men idolize women it probably has more to do with biological drive rather than literature. If there is a "truthful" picture of women and the society it's that it changes from women to women and the society to the society.

I don't think 90% of the people who commented read the article either. The quote the article pulls from is taken in partial context to embellish it as feminist hyperbole. I'm not a big fan of her thoughts regarding the issue, but it's obvious that the way people are commenting here suggest indifference towards actual context and more interest in jokes. I always like to put things in perspective by gender reversal, as is commonly done in this sub. Basically if a male writer said boys should avoid…

Maher incredulously asks "how can a women rape a man?" Rollins says, "I think an older woman can manipulate a young kid, and I don't think it's really healthy for a kid that's going to be 14 with 2 kids out in the world. I think that those 2 kids will grow up fairly damaged and that kid will grow up fairly damaged." Maher then retorts, "so you're on her side." What a petty fucking dickhead. That is a legitimate response from someone who isn't trying to push an agenda and he just brushes it away …

Whatever your moral proclivities, the law is indifferent to your beliefs.

Its a strawman response. Use a hypothetical that is neutral first to set the tone and avoid being too antaganistic, for many they assume it's condescending.

I did not imply fault for rape but criminal behavior. This should be obvious as the article outlines their behavior.

So I've so ideas about stubbornness, so here goes, our beliefs form the core of who we are, essentially our identity and beliefs form our values. Our values form our moral conscience, and collectively our morals become the ethics of a society. When you argue something, say like morals of abortion you are also engaging the belief that life is sacred. When people argue at the moral level it can be civilized but when you argue at the level of belief, it generally becomes hostile. I think that becau…

What you're saying is too broad for me, and I think it would help if you dialed it in. If you said "tumblr feminists often" celebrate rather than simply "women" I wouldn't disagree. Facebook and other online media is just one window, I do not think you can arbitrarily suggest that all women can fit into a category. I realize that it may seem pedantic to argue this point, but you are pointing out a double standard that only applies to a small population of women. If this issue were excessively da…

Dude your comment is rife in it's own contradiction. You clearly wouldn't want to date a fat chick, just as a females don't want to date ugly men. Simply put, lots of shallow people just want partners whose physical beauty is something they can brag about. This behavior goes both ways. Until you can value someone for something other than looks be prepared to play this bullshit game. Also, I personally don't know many women who are super particular, it seems more apparent on the internet, but tha…

That context really helps in trying to understand your perspective. I wouldn't think that the front page is the best screening method for what is or isn't bad but if that's your measure than I won't argue. Just the same as you, I would be very happy if people felt compelled to learn about the MRM, even if it came from a polished turd. I, however am still skeptical of the benefit of posts like this being a first glance at the MRM. I want people to see the best of the MRM, not the silly. I think i…

Trust me, it is divisive, take a look at the comments. In fact, half of my inbox from this post are MRAs saying that they wish the sub would stick to the issues. r/mensrights need a balance between shitposts and serious posts. I didn't find this sub from my front page, I found it by looking for it. I value the MRM because it usually has a very egalitarian message, and most members are logical people. If anything shitposting says the opposite about the MRM. You may feel that the visibility it rec…

I don't really care what vain things pretty girls say to their her friends as a joke, but the way the guy responded seemed apt enough for me. No need to have these long winded debates about something that has less to do with men's rights and more to do with the next issue of cosmopolitan.

Dude you really should reexamine the tone in which you start an argument. You are hostile right of the rip, call me a feminist whiner, label me a idiot ctfu(I don't even know what that is), suggest what I say is bullshit drivel, tell me to stop whining, and to shut the fuck up. You want me to treat you with what...respect, not call you an idiot or a dolt? Oh fuck off with that crybaby soccer player bullshit. Lol I hope that tldr wasn't for me. We're probably more alike than not. I've always thought of myself as a humanist, and by your outlook I see very much the same in you. At face value, Feminism seems to have undergone a paradigm shift since it's latter movements and many of its constituents have called on an intensifying of specific values rather than focusing on human rights advocacy. I wish it wasn't so divisive a topic but on reddit, calling yourself a feminist is akin to drawing battle lines…

When you say "hardcore" feminist and a men's rights advocate you confuse me, but I will capitulate that I do think you can be both, but I just don't think calling out the patriarchy makes sense at that point. If you are indeed both, I would prefer to call you a humanist.

You must carry a helluva lot of baggage, because you pounced at the opportunity to start a witch hunt and hurl insults. You should try to separate your emotions from your arguments, but I doubt you know how to take criticism.

It's why I said many. I realize that some people, like yourself may have other less disingenuous reasons to feel disgust at behavior aimed at exploiting one's gender, however, watching that stuff keeps the hate alive.

LOL, you actually made me laugh. You argue like a ill-tempered child. Na-huh I'm not an idiot you're the idiot! How about you cool your roll smooth rider. Again, not the enemy here. Seriously though, I questioned this as an issue not to undermine but to point out that this isn't what MRM is about. When I commented this post only had like 100 upvotes. If you really think this is an issue than you're an idiot. I'm not a feminist, but hey if you want stuff like this to be at the forefront of the MRM than keep on truckin you dolt. Most people don't actually give much notice to the MRM, but when they see this our priority rest assured they'll take movement seriously. Coverage in r/all usually seems to express the opinion of the lowest common denominator, which may explain why you tend to see more of the low-effort posts from this sub. I totally agree with you on the content being piss poor at times. I'm not overly fond of the women shaming, and in my experience this sub is split between genuine recourse and some pettiness. It is still far less demeaning and mean-spirited than subs like r/pussypassdenied. Those guys are usually bitter and ape in their comments.

Not to say I disagree with you but considering that reddit is an open forum and your comment about wet geezers, I'm not sure your less nuanced comment pushes this sub in the direction of nice, logical, and good. Compared to r/pussypassdenied and r/SRSsucks this sub is far less mean-spirited and much more focused on positive changes.

/r/MensRights10/01/17 01:29 PM

I didn't know about this and I'm neither disagreeing or agreeing but I found that a League for Men's Rights was founded in 1926. I don't know if this is technically the founding of MRM, but these guys were far less than egalitarian. From what I read the modern MRM was formed from a divorce reform coalition in 1973 called the Men's Rights Association, which split and merged regularly until it's present form. Based on that information I would be hesitant to name anyone one person of group as found…

It's a old(and untrue) sentiment that women and children are the primary victims of war. Clinton has just added a harpy's twist to it.

Do either 3rd party candidates even possess enough of the popular vote in any swing states to make policy adoption even a thing? Last I heard Johnson is doing double digits in most states.
/r/MensRights23/10/16 11:29 AM

That kind of rhetoric doesn't really help men's rights. Can't we just agree that Clinton is pandering and wants certain idiots to think she cares enough about female issues to vote for her. Between bad analogies and gender issues, politics is about illusions, not truth.

Your mom is misapplying the concepts. Systemic discrimination shouldn't be applied to larger populations because it overlooks many exceptions. Our perceptions are individual and if the dominant group in power can dictate the norms such concepts can made valid, but a basic overview of American society quickly yields various locales dominated by so called minorities. In such cases standardizing these national norms creates a misnomer.

It's also a really poor use of irony. If it were the first time a fembot used that line of thinking to dismiss an argument, but the trope is in the response that it's mansplaining. The real irony is that there is no correct answers to them, only entitled responses.

As a nurse in a labor and delivery unit, it is most often the fathers who want their sons to be circ'ed. It is clearly painful and the little boys always cry. The only objective benefit is it is a little cleaner. There are many reasons not to do the surgery, and yes it is a surgery, 5 forceps, a straight scissor, and a gomco clamp are used on a boy while his arms, leg, and chest are strapped down. Personally, I think the parents should be made to watch an example of the surgery before they opt f…

If she can't see herself as anything but a feminist she will not change. This concept is a cornerstone of her identity at this point. The label itself is the key. If you bring issues up that aren't attached to the word feminism or the like you could have a conversation that wasn't so biased.

While the number of women raped and the number of false claims is nearly impossible to truly get accurate, idiots will get unnecessarily upset over something petty and immaterial, but you made a sweeping generalization that MRA's were just like feminazis. From my experience MRA's consist conservative dickwads as well as open-minded men and women. I personally don't think this specified article is a good example of inequality towards men and I even agree that there are some idiots in men's right,…

MRA's and third wave feminists are fundamentally different. Equality is important to MRA's, the same can't be said about feminazis. Just because both parties can be bombastic in tone does not make them the same. Expecting suicide rates for society, and combat-vets to have proportionately the same rates in relation to sex is moronic, and was probably a way for the author of this article to create more fanfare. The difference between MRA's and feminazis can be likened to one group either ignoring …

By normal society standards, men commit suicide more often. Though in a combat environment I don't think it has been conclusively shown that women and men cope better than the other. Realistically, veterans exposed to combat are probably more likely to suicide than non-combat vets. I'd imagine rates of suicide match the rate of the percentage of men and women exposed to combat, hence why females numbers approach male numbers(combat vets of course). The question then becomes, did they compare sui…

I'm affected in a beneficial way. You seem mad that you are competing against a saturated field but my career selection was based upon such notions. I feel for you, but it's not specifically a men's rights issue. It's a business practice issue.

I'm a nurse. I should probably caveat this with the fact that I am a male and I receive preference over women in the field.
/r/MensRights05/01/16 09:46 PM

Typically I'm disgusted by third wave feminist bullshit and feel a measured response is necessary to counter the misandry that is seeping into our society. However, I don't think that this is a good example of it. Engineering is still dominated by men, and this is not obviously an attempt to undermine men in the field but probably an attempt to staff more women for a quota.
