The Simpsons has been criticizing culture for decades. Seems more like they're thumbing their nose at feminism and it's inherent hypocrisy.

Not the way I saw it. I think it caught a lot of flak from those who noticed what I did (or more), and feminists saw a film about a woman being terrorized by men. Lots more going on in that film than surface level storytelling.

If all you do is take the shit and do nothing about it except complain, then the advice applies. I get the issue with the gendered language but I gotta say, there are a lot of people these days (men and women and expanded universe) that just roll over at every roadblock. "Be a man" "sack up" "don't be a pussy" all outdated offensive phrases of course, but the sentiment is sound: "deal with it"

Life is not a tv show, if you think you met the Pam to your Jim at work you're probably wrong and in for a rude awakening. Date outside of work. Don't shit where you eat. Can't afford a wife if you get fired for sexual harassment.

"Be yourself" honestly is the most appropriate advice. More specific advice would be "just exist". There's no amount of preparation that will reduce failure by 100%, if you don't fail you don't learn, and what you do learn becomes part of the "self" so the advice is sound. Anyone that has to say they are "alpha", isn't. And they're peddling snake oil.

If heterosexual cis gendered men exude homophobic behavior due to a desire to not appear homosexual to in turn attract available heterosexual cis gendered females, and traditional concepts of platonic relationships between males do not include sensitivity amongst male peers because it's "queer", then one can make the assumption that homophobic tendencies include an avoidance behavior away from "soft" platonic relationships with men, and are the result of behavioral choices to maximize sexual att…

You're engaged to an unhinged person. There are women out there with the mental capacity for logic and reason. We have to be more selective about who we date, marry, and procreate with. Happy hunting.

Because everyday, you get at least one form of influence telling you that you're not complete without a partner. Even the advice to "be comfortable by yourself" ends with "so you can be a better partner".

Many men don’t feel comfortable talking about their emotions or any sexual insecurities...because those men have always felt in control and safe, they don’t have to. We don't talk about those things because we don't feel safe doing so.

A rapist is someone who commits sexual acts on another person, without their consent. A cis-heterosexual man is someone who identifies as a straight male. No matter what the statistics say, these two things are NOT the same.

Well I don't agree with that entirely, I don't think it's a dick move to bring up emotional problems during a conflict, nor does it deserve a punch in the face (that's ACTUALLY toxic AF), but the whole "be in touch with your emotions" but excluding anger, rage, etc (all very natural) is problematic. It makes the whole "emotional intelligence" quality seem like more of a test to pass than actual self-realization. Too many people attribute violence, anger, and "negative emotions" to what's conside…

Yeah there's really no way out of that trap. Anytime there's a "but I'm worried people will call me (name)" statement, anything you say that doesn't validate the individual's desire is going to be seen as an attack. Especially in this example. We should all go back to not tip-toeing around it. It's slutty. I see no difference between calling this what it is, or stepping outside when it's raining and saying "it's wet"

FDS is PUA for women. Maybe more so a defense mechanism against PUA. The way the term "low value" is used, it appears to have varying meaning to different groups of women, but the core idea comes to "need not apply". There's a heavy sense of arrogance around it, which is understandably annoying, especially having myself been on the male side of the mentality. Both camps exist in an almost hawkish symbiotic relationship. The main difference I see is that a more cunning and manipulative attempt at…

The takeaway here is to focus on WHY you are feeling this way. Why does seeing truths leave you disappointed and depressed? Because you once believed a lie. Really dig deep and try to discover what that lie ACTUALLY is, and where it comes from. It's not that women are monsters, it's not that women are here to ruin your life. It's that you believed they were something they are not. They're not salvation. They're not the answer to your problems. Don't allow yourself to believe a new lie. They're j…

Therapy, my dude. The pleasure from thoughts of inflicting pain on others is alarming. Aside from that, self defense training is a good idea. Just be careful who your teacher is. My advice is to look for a gym that focuses on mindfulness in combat, bonus points if there's discussion of mindfulness in everyday life. You should be less concerned with the goal of "good looking" and more concerned with the goal of "good feeling" (and not from the thought of inflicting pain for the sake of inflicting…

I feel I need to take this opportunity to state that yes, I agree, the choice to inflict physical harm on a woman because of the "incel" label (whether self-given or received) is an absolute poor choice. I don't know where in my previous statements it was found that I might be trying to justify that behavior (especially since I've made statements against it multiple times already), but it seems your whole argument has been on that platform. Which I am in agreement with you on. That was never the…

I agree! The issue with this topic right now though is that the only thing being discussed on a mainstream level is the tragedy itself when violence is dealt towards women, and NEVER is the idea that these viewpoints held by angry violent men could be, at even the least bit, a result of past traumatic experiences with women. Hate doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's a reaction. If we (meaning the culture, not just you and I) were talking about physical violence committed towards a man by a woman, the…

Well, I'd have to say that sounds like a hurdle more than an impenetrable barrier. Not to diminish the frustration that comes from being silenced or cast aside. I feel for you. Someone else in this thread pointed out an aspect of this and other related communities as being "branded" to represent hatred/violence towards women. We all know this is not the case, so I suppose the first step would be a restorative branding campaign.

Somehow I'm still holding on to this small glimmer of hope that most of society can't see the forest for the trees, and we're just in this uncomfortable shift in the opposite direction from western culture's past. Or maybe the 'forest for the trees' problem is my own, and I can't see that this is the beginning of the end for true gender equality. In either case, the hypocrisy is astonishing.

I think the difference here is that I'm advocating for social healing and you're advocating for social banishment. Am I wrong? I'm sorry to hear about the abuse you and your mother have experienced. It's truly heartbreaking, and I mean that. I beg to differ. Addiction has a completely different weight to it. Being an addict myself, I can think of countless times where I didn't like how I was feeling/behaving but could not stop focusing on the thing until I had it. The end result was always the focus but that quickly disappears once you've had your fix. It's an obsession and a vicious cycle.

Nothing screams "covert ops" to me more than a mtf transgendered or feminine-identifying individual influencing a group clearly labeled for men specifically. The hypocrisy is outstanding as well. If there was a community named Women's Lib and it was full of men proposing that women act more in line with ANY opinion on how a woman should exist, it would be gone immediately. Not at all my intention. My aim was to point out that nobody starts out that way, and it takes a certain combination of influence and/or abusive rejection from any related group or "mindset" to stoke the fire before the "all women bad" mantra gets dumped on these people like a can of gasoline. But how is the answer to this problem to bring people into the fold of "feminism"? yeah I'm kinda new here so learning the hard way/taking the long road. For all intents and purposes, it would appear to be a community to talk about male-specific issues through the lens of the male gender, but that seems to be impossible to define these days so it's just been lumped in with feminism. Kind of ironic that a socio-political group that claims to believe in the blurring of lines between genders refuses to dismantle the structured fem-centric idealogy. Basically saying "let's not enc…

That's what I'm getting at here as well, my brother had a conversation with his ex about needing to take a bit of time to focus on his mental health, and she agreed to it, but then when he felt ready to start visitation again she pulled the offer and his daughter completely ignores him now. The ex is definitely of the "men are no good" club and I'm seeing that starting to take hold with his kid.

So the message of being kind I can get behind, but you can't go generalizing on what women want. There are PLENTY of women who specifically seek out the "ideal" type, who constantly consider the thought "I can do better". The key is to just not give a shit either way. Just stop caring. Do whatever it is that you want to do with your life. Stop considering what women want into your decision. See what happens when you're truly living life on your terms.

Children(existing or not) deserve the right to... I am still not feeling confident in your explanation, can you try to explain English to me one more time, please? Edit: I see where the confusion is. My original comment said "rights to exist to beings that don't exist" when I meant to say "rights to beings that don't exist". The call-out still stands though. Considering the possibility here that it's not every group of women you encounter, you could just be focusing on specific encounters with generally awful people lol. The snickering and mocking sounds like more of a personality trait than a specific feminine trait. Also, there are women who KNOW they're attractive, and I would assume that most women feel conditioned to present themselves as attractive, especially at a young age. That's just kind of what young people focus on for the most part.

Yeah that whole "alpha fucks beta bucks" mentality is more of a fem-centric idea though if you think about the concept. You have to stop thinking of women in terms of general "good or bad". Instead, think of terms of "yes or no", or even "0 or 1". She either is or is not someone you can see yourself going the distance with. If you're unsure, you either don't know her well enough (or you do and you're subconsciously justifying staying with her), or you don't know YOURSELF well enough. Both could also be true.

You are correct, though I didn't get the impression OP was talking about societies outside of our own.
