Yep I agree covid was a giant mess. In Aus we had no restaurants open for like 6 months so it was a lot of going to the botanical gardens in winter... Then they restricted our travel distance to 5km and we were only allowed out of the house for 1 hour. Can't believe we've lived through these times.

It's also hard getting back into meeting people when you're still stuck on that person. At first it feels futile, but even meeting people and getting to know them can help. When you see how much interest you can garner it helps alleviate the idea that the previous person was the only one who could show you interest. Dunno if that resonates with you but that's what helped me!

Out of curiousity - have you been with anyone in between that? Situationships are awful in my experience, they can leave you with a bit of scarring :(

I keep waking up anxious about being alone. Whyyyyy, I've been single for a year and okay with it. I guess I'm still not over certain guys I've tried dating. Stupid.

True true about spending money. I try to go a bit low key and just buy chocolate and maybe a nice top on the occassion. I think you're right about going cold/distant to not encourage yourself to lean into him. It sucks :( I kinda hate running too, but it makes my mind feel good and it helps keep the tummy flat so there are some benefits to the pain lol!

Thank you so much. I knew I came to the right place to get the right encouragement. It bummed me out but now I've quietly switched to full clinical nurse mode and am thinking 'well now if I did an assessment things wouldn't be looking great for you two'.

I told him he had a receding hairline Omg sis you are ruthless, I needed that laugh. Good on you and ew on him!

I feel for you. The two things that get me away from someone is putting them out of my life (which is so hard), and running to the point your body's pain outweighs your mind. Then absolutely spoiling yourself.

Something unexpected and a bit upsetting happened tonight. I've made some online friends I chat with on calls, we've been joking around and getting to know each other the last couple of months. They're aware of my high dating standards and that I'm looking for a relationship and not some casual rubbish. Ironically I met them via a tinder guy who ended up low effort so I said no thanks - and they agreed he was a time waster. Tonight they somewhat jumped me in conversation and started critiquing m…

I went for a massage, then took myself to the beach and ate subway. Buying myself yummy food. Going for a bit of a run.

I sometimes use guys' names while talking to them. This is typical professionalism in nursing filtering over

Same gf, the wall hits them shocking hard when they've never worn sunscreen or moisturiser, worn clothes that fit, stand up straight or had some kind of personality to answer the prompt. Don't know why they bother making an account..

I've had this. Attracted to men I know are gross inside and out. Look into trauma bonding, attachment theory. If you give yourself control by deciding to drop him for a couple of months and do you instead, that sense of control helps reduce the withdrawal. Then often by the time 2 months rolls around time has done its sweet work to get your brain off him. All in my experience.

My nana left her abusive womanizing husband in the 1970s to live with her best friend. She said find someone 'kind and ugly' lol, god bless her it probably worked back then but even now the ugly ones are dicks too.

Routine of self care before bed. Simple but, wash your face, moisturize, do your teeth, get a hot drink and some aromatherapy. Even having lavender in my pillow helps me relax.

I feel you, from Melbourne Australia. Lockdown 6 months. Currently no retail, no restaurants, travel within 5km radius, only allowed outside 2 hours per day. Mental health in this city is struggling.

I did it as former pickme. I wanted to be loved cause I didn't love myself enough. Where this problem often starts is parents enabling their kids, and that's a whole other level of complicatedness.

Likely because someone in their life is enabling the lifestyle, so they don't need to be responsible for themselves.

Seems right. Moving country, dumping LVM, moving house, starting nursing school, changing jobs when bullied - biggest growth moments.

Today as I walked past a foreign guy at the mall he made kissey noises at me. Felt worse than wolf whistling.

I take the chill dismissive approach. If someone comes at me freaking out, "nah, I don't agree". Works well on diffusing argumentative people when you don't react to their bullshit (I work in healthcare). Also uses less energy, and gives you an air of quiet authority. Sometimes you just need to give a look and they know not to cross you.

Feeling unmoveable is soooo good. You feel stable, like a rock. To think I once looked to guys to give me that (lol!?).

Once when I was about 8 years old, my dad (for once) said to me 'you look nice', and I was so over his bullshit I just said "I know" and he scoffed at me rather than being happy in my confidence. I used to take absolutely no bullshit from him and if he ever put me or my mum down under his breath (often calling us bitches) little me would be quick to yell "WHAT DID YOU SAY?". He was really a coward who hated conflict so it unnerved him that I had the strength to fight back. Somewhere along the wa…

When I'm talking boys to my girlfriend she is SO fast at the hintling of a red flag to quip "In the bin!" Took me a while to get over my pickme days but she saw me through it to the other side lol. Now I'm sending her FDS stuff 🤣

He treated me like shit for a year +, then I finally cut it off with him over shuttlecocks lol. Over the last 7 months he's resorted to emailing me apologies cause I blocked him everywhere. I have never replied. When I'm done, I'm DONE. No more nice girl.

Normal interest will feel slow and boring compared to love bombing. After 4 years of that addiction I'm finding it hard to get attracted to good guys. Sucks.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
