Just left you another reply. Again, you asked me to provide credentials and I did. Now you're criticizing me for providing my credentials with too much eagerness and questioning the veracity of my credentials while also stating that you no longer care about my credentials. Don't you see how that's kind of dishonest? Seems like you're placing me in a no-win situation here. I think I've engaged in this debate with you earnestly, but you seem intent on attacking my character and you're clearly very…

incredibly anxious to make sure everyone in every sub understands that you're a psychologist Buddy...all I said was "I'm a psychologist so I'm familiar with that idea" and you said "You're going to need to prove those credentials." Now that I've provided my credentials, you're calling me out for providing my credentials... I love my career and it defines a huge part of who I am. I love talking about psychology and spreading information about it. Consequently, I often bring up the fact that I'm a…

Here is a screenshot of an APA (American Psychological Association) member e-mail that I received a few weeks ago: http://i.imgur.com/NWmBCMX.png

I copy pasted? What do you mean by that? And when was I an "angry little twat"? This is all I said: Wow, this sub is crazy Because a comment calling a transgender person a "degenerate" just because their transgender receives upvotes. And then I left the longer two comments. What doesn't add up there? Psychologists have always said "crazy" and other words. We're people. I'm a dude in my 30's...I curse, get angry, act like a dick sometimes, etc. I obviously wouldn't use "crazy" in a professional c…

Uh...why? All I said was that I'm aware of the model you're talking about because I study psychology for a living. As a psychologist, I don't entirely disagree with that model (that transgenderism can be conceptualized as a mental disorder). However, nothing else I said was predicated on whether or not I'm a psychologist. It's too bad that rather than replying to any of my points, you've focused solely on that first sentence. I'm still interested in hearing your responses to them. Anyway, if it'…

I'm a psychologist, so I know all about the "transgenderism as a mental illness" model. However, you're casting a moral judgment on transgenderism. Namely, you're calling people whom you deem as not truly transgender - but instead, as simply trying to be "cool" - as degenerates. Could you explain what you mean by "degenerate"? That's an awfully loaded word that makes me think of puritanical views of sex. I'd like to hear your take on it, though. The bigger issue is this: where do you draw the li…

Sorry you've had such shitty medical training. I'm a clinical psychologist who helps train psychiatric residents and medical students, and all the trainees I work with become quite familiar with DBT and other evidence-based treatments for borderline personality disorder. You mention in another comment that DBT is "a long term treatment and by no means close to a cure" and that it "requires them to be motivated which is problematic". Reading those things makes me glad you haven't chosen psychiatr…

That's complete bullshit. I'm a clinical psychologist who knows hundreds and hundreds of other clinicians and never once have I met someone who refuses to work with borderline personality disorder. There's certainly some intimidation regarding how to best treat it but noways it's considered to be very treatable.
