the competitive dynamic Seen this in male friendship group too often, even at advanced age. I used to ask an ex partner about it and he said that he felt frustration about it too, but if you 'don' play' or do the 'alright man, whatever', you will be seen as losing the competition or less manly. This was a left wing-ish male friendship group btw, so even when the casual misogyny is much tone down, the competitiveness is still there.

We’ve been told that women are sugar and spice Heard this a lot from Western-raised men (I mean, duh, the 'sugar and spice' as something positive is a big clue, in our place we would probably used 'the fattest grain of rice' as metaphor something) And it is a big problem indeed. Pedestalized view of anyone tend to create a lot of disappointment.

they deserve only the absolute best Is this something wrong to want to have, if pairing is no longer a life - death necessary needs? Of both sides I mean. If the option is between "a quiet and happy peace" vs "sub-par partnership" (again, for any gender. Any sexual orientation.) Won't choosing the absolute best or none at all be the right answer? I did not grow up in the West, mind you. I actually grew up in a place of "the best or none" kind of thinking.

Cognitive Dissonance perhaps? There was a study about inside the minds of domestic violence preps. Sort of the ultimate, big, WHY. Most answers from abusers were simply "because it works". That is all. That is as far as those abusers could think. The damage they done to the one got abused? Did not even cross their minds. It was honest to donuts, a simple "it works". That is often the vibes I got from online and offline men who said that they are happily married, but very much acting very differe…

I can understand the feeling of wanting to have 'the village/the tribe' being there for you when you are going through hard time, especially for people born into families where there are not much support around. But there are enough places offering tribes for guys, I feel? MMA gyms, wall climbing gyms, heck even crossfitters if one is desperate. But the friend sounds like he currently has it all? Fresh degree, a girlfriend, a friend that actually genuinely cares about him?

I am feeling very, very angry reading this. Because this is how I was raised too. That we are just supposed to be the hole. Sometimes the balooning hole. That should be snapped back as quick as possible to go back into a hole that is ready for the next balooning again.

You will say for me that you never treated men badly? Never ignored or ghosted them? Never used them? Women (or people of all genders) who do this are often doing this also to fellow women (or fellow men). Why not thinking of women who do this as simply human thing?

The blame logically fall on the shoulders of the original genes giver though. Or better...why is it that in our species, xy-individuals are often naturally less physically attractive than xx-individuals. In other animal species, it is often the males who look more grandiose, more beautiful than the female (many species of birds, big cats, even apes). Something to do with evolution? Why do you think that is? I do come from a place where ugly men still get women (Asian from Asia), but they both kn…

Two very separate things. Wanting a low count or no count partner? It's preference. Just like wanting a partner with three big toes. You do you. Blaming women who were essentially victims of shitty men? Boy, are you out of your mind? Do you also blame men who are victim of gold digging/paternity fraud too? Cause you know "how stooopiiiiddd these men must have been, to let themselved be financially milked like that. Right?"

most notably Hamza ("Why Men Should NOT Show Emotion") Even if men try this, it is a pipe dream that the 'show no emotion' will work out for a long time, assuming one wants a long term relationship. It will explode out eventually, either into anger (most of the time), or mental breakdown. Unless the person is one of those dickwads who often said "AnGeR iS NoT An EmoTIoN!". So that they can still claim that they did not show emotion...even after some epic anger/tantrum outburst. I was a woman who…

First: STD test. Get it cleared. The amount of acquitances of mine who got cheated on and then got the claps and their ilks, as extra heartbreak bonus is unfortunately NOT zero. One woman I know got HPV from her partner cheating, and needed to have LEEP done on her cervix. Google that if you want. Did not matter if you were wearing condoms and the sidechick dental dams. Do that STI panels. Second: Just be...normal. Like most people in relationships are not cheaters. To avoid cheating, you litera…

you also haven't been manipulated to need food Without food you die. Wtf. Widows and widowers are not usually die after their partners passed if they do not find new partners. One is a need (food), one is a want (relationship). And yes, it is brainwashing. You said yourself, your life just got sucked a little without partner. Now try to go without food for a month.

Chin up, OP. So you have all of those problems and insecurities...so what? All people have their own problems and insecurities. That is just being human. Now...about how you deal with those insecurities...now those are another problems entirely. Red Pillers deal with personal problems and insecurities by hurting other people. Especially people they claimed to 'love'. They are one of those nightmarish male Karens who are afraid of abandonement (the many discussions about 'monkey branching') becau…

Honestly? I don't know. Orgasms? Can have multiple and good ones from sex toys. Companionship? Pets or friendships. And I am not much of a social person, so I self-isolate a lot. Financial stability? I like my work and am compensated well for it. I am married and do love my husband very much though. But yeah...don't actually have enough of logical reasons to be in one.

You said you are in the friendzone...but not close enough to be her friend? Isn't that acquitance-zone then?

the homophobic things he’s said and he said he would work on it I feel that it was already a big redflag when a person (especially if they were growing and living in the West), needing correction on their stance on people who are different than them. My late grandpa from mom's side hailed from a village in Asia that was probably not even in a map, he never really was able to read and write because he had to leave school on fourth grade to work in a farm. Even he understood the concept of live an…

Hey it's ok to accept your lot in life even if it is shitty one. A lot of people are well meaning, but completely incorrect, when they suggested something like: "You never had good experience with people from [insert race, gender, etc here]? Well, just try to get to know more people from that specific group, that will eventually somehow solve your problems!" That is some toxic positivity and putting the burden on random people to solve someone's problems. I think a better suggestion will be, sin…

I've been cold approached a lot and had turned all of them politely down (and luckily so far, the polite rejection has been politely accepted too). Only one person asked me why and when I answered that there's no particular reason, he accepted that. So you see I have never had bad experience from being cold approached (unlike many other people)...and I can still say that this kind of approach is...inefficient to do to a complete stranger? I (personally) need some kind of history to be even open …

Male/female spinsters have always existed at any point and any kind of society/culture of human life. I probably came from a very different corner of the world than you, there are even still something akin to arranged marriage where I am from. But...yeah, you guessed it. Even with that kind of system, we got leftovers. And maybe you are one of those male spinsters? And if you are? Well...so what? You are not the first and not the last. Every culture, at every point of time have their own spinste…

Ehh...no use trying to educate such person. His type is dime a dozen in my country (Asia). You know, old white conservative guy, angry about lefties and women and immigrants, wanting to be called expat and feeling special in Asia. His age fits too. Some people are just destined to end up as those caricatures.

I feel that if someone feels like this when they are almost 50, there is no more talk or convincing to be had anyway. If you were younger, I'd have suggested involvements into those kind of communities who you've seen to be having the biggest piece of the pie (even this notion is problematic), but you are at your age... There is no use. I am from Asia and old white guys running into our countries with similar mentalities are dime a dozen. Even before the 'wokeness'. It is what it is.
