It sounds like you have had a lot of disappointing interactions with men. I think we all do overtime, I am sure men have similarly disappointing interactions with women. Have you ever had a good relationship with a man? An ex? A friend? A brother? A coworker? There are many men out there that won't meet your personal standards but focusing on negative interactions too much will likely sour you in such a way that you won't be open enough when someone with potential comes along. when I think about…

Hello, when I was young my mother was "absent" let's say. Similar to you I never really was taught how to care for myself and I held/ hold a lot of shame about my hygiene, teeth, hair etc. It is all stuff you can learn as an adult but it is difficult because things that should bring you comfort or confidence seem forever tinged with a bit of sadness and distress. I have found that therapy has really helped in this regard, I have gone from shaking and crying at the hairdresser and dentist to not …

My resting face is very friendly and open which is usually a blessing but yes it can unfortunately leave you open to being a beacon for some "unusual" people! Need to practice my frown for public transport.

I remember someone telling me that there are chess boxing events, I think it is literally a round of boxing then like a speed game of chess then boxing again etc. Brain and brawn and all that I guess!? Could be fun if there is something like that near you.

This is such a difficult thing to advise on as people are so different! My husband has loved gifts like an ornament of an interesting mathematical shape that I know interests him and prizes a fossil I got him but I know if I gave either of those to my brother he would simply be politely confused! When I can't think of something special I tend to book us experiences instead, a short break, a class we can attend together, a gig something like that. We are fairly minimalist so just getting "somethi…

You sound very accomplished already especially for your age. There are different types of intelligence, most people who are worth interacting with understand that. Sweeping generalisation incoming: people who are hard-line STEM disciples tend to be fairly rigid in their thinking, can talk your ear off about "their thing" but having an actual conversation with them/ prolonged relationship with them can be stilted and become dull. You don't need to change your interests, your interests are wonderf…

I am a doctor (UK), it was a mistake to train in medicine as I am not suited to it generally at all. However, I have found a sub specialty that works for me (Pathology), it is very visual and not patient facing which suits me well. I genuinely enjoy my work, I get a thrill out of seeing certain entities and I learn something new everyday. I work 4 days a week and I am currently pregnant with our first. I will take a year of maternity leave then go back 3 days a week. This would be less feasible …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
