In that case, I don't think you quite understand the meaning of the phrase "may be."

I don't think you quite understand the meaning of the phrase "proceed with caution," either.

Instead, we arrest the man, because he likely "bruised his knuckles on her face". Or sometimes even just because she said she was scared of him.

I can't open the link. The site is either unavailable or unable to handle its traffic. I can't comment on the article, but I can comment on the title of this link. Abusive women "know" we won't come forward because of how often we aren't taken seriously when we do. Some may not think of what they do as abuse but others know, and don't care. They get away with it because of common thought, that we are stronger and they are weaker, or that if they attack it's because we did something to deserve it…

I like how all of the shock is at how blatant her self-injury for effect was, but no one has commented on how she thought it was okay to beat on her husband for having what she thought was porn.

Some cops would have arrested him even if they knew she was lying. Some precincts have a policy of making an arrest whenever there is a domestic call. Glad to see that some don't. If the ones I dealt with were that smart it would have saved me thousands of dollars.

The one silver lining in sexist t shirts is that they give you at least some clue about the person wearing them. You can't know everything about her from one shirt, but a line like that is like a sign. Warning: Contents may be bigoted. Turn back or proceed with caution!

The article has its good points but it is off base. Being protective doesn't mean claiming ownership. That is a sexist approach to why men are portrayed as overprotective of their daughters. Parents are protective of their kids because kids are vulnerable. Some parents of both sexes are more protective of their daughters than of their sons because they see their daughters as being more vulnerable or differently vulnerable. They may be right about parts of that. Their sons may be more equipped to…

You should not even have had to add this. This is what I got from your original comment. It stood on its own merits. Why pander to trolls?

Or, when asked if you're wearing a skirt, answer with the question, "Sarong with that?" Might confuse 'em into forgetting they were about to be offended.

The problem with the liberal concept of equality is that it does not distinguish between "equal" and "identical." It doesn't distinguish between "equal rights" and "identical experiences."

Is Ex is stalking OP, or Ex IS OP trying to troll MR? Hard to tell at first from activity. OP's account isn't used much, despite being a year old. Ex's account is new. Train of thought: Despite anonymity of post, Ex identifies self in it. My first question... how and why? Chance of randomly finding low-rated post in minor subreddit = slim to none. Logic of identifying self if post is all lies = none. When this is questioned, Ex claims post found by anonymous "friend" who works at law firm who al…

I feel for you, man. I really do. You are at a huge legal disadvantage. You may not have had any choice, but having fought back is probably going to bite you in the ass in court. I was convicted of assault just for covering my head with my arms while my ex-girlfriend beat me with a glass paperweight. She was uninjured. I ended up at the emergency room. She was never charged. Judge told me that any physical movement I made during the fight constituted assault even though I did not touch her, but …

Circumcision is an elective cosmetic procedure not recommended by the AMA. Its value can be compared to the value of having your baby tattooed or getting a body part pierced. It does not merit insurance coverage any more than those things do. As for coverage encouraging recommendation, you may be right, or you may be wrong. Facilities in states where it is covered might encourage parents to choose circumcision because it's profitable. Parents in states where it isn't covered might not have it do…

You had to bring up abortion? For future reference, never get oneiorosgrip started on an abortion debate. No one ever "wins" when she's included in a discussion on that topic. Not her, not the other commenters. The discussion will end up being pointless and irritating. One or all of us will probably end up saying at least one thing we don't mean the way it comes across. It also takes away from the common ground you had before the topic was introduced. To your first comment, I agree that the stat…

Looking at abortion from a financial-only angle makes your point, but it ignores all of the finer issues associated with the procedure. Using state financial benefit as a reason to justify using tax funds, taken as from the pockets of pro-lifers as anyone else, to pay for non-emergency abortions through medicaid and other publicly funded services, wrongfully and unnecessarily forces those people to financially support the procedure on the shallow basis that it's the cheaper choice. It's logical,…

It is prejudiced. It's also stupid. Considering that some people enjoy multiple partners shows how stupid it is, if you continue to the logical conclusion. A woman who chooses to have multiple partners can create one pregnancy at a time. A man who chooses to have multiple partners can impregnate all of them during a short time frame if he is careless. It would make much more sense to provide free pregnancy prevention services to both sexes. Even if one were to consider the ridiculous notion of t…

This is what I was talking about. I can't believe you didn't smash these chicks in the discussion after this comment. If you weren't going to follow through, you shouldn't have bothered feeding the trolls in the first place. You know the argument you should have used. This is no different than the vaccine arguments you had on Gather. You should have used Occam's Razor: plurality should not be posited without necessity. For the comment reader, a good example would be this. You leave a sandwich on…

Interesting to see a possible SRS troll claiming to be the ex. I wonder, if the story really is a lie, how did she recognize herself in it?

she hasn't personally harassed me (at least not in the past few years) I take it that at some time in the past, she did. So... she's crazy, she's violent, she lies, and she's harassed you in the past. That is enough that you should be able to get a temporary order, because you can honestly say she's a danger to you. You should get the order. Think of it as a preemptive strike, in case she makes anything else up.

Why not ask them if they have been raped? Use the same criteria as the female studies. That study would indicate that there are as many female rapes of male college students as the female study indicated male rapes of females.
